  1. Xavier Biggers will be the 3rd generation of Biggers to play for a state championship for Mayfield. His grandfather was on Mayfields first 2 state championship teams in 1977 and 1978 with 78 team going 13-0 undefeated and considered by most in Mayfield as the best team in Mayfields history and ranked number 1 that year by Litenhouse. Father played in state championship game with the team going into state championship game 14-0 but got handled pretty good by Middleboro I believe in 2000?. HOPEFULLY the state championship will only skip over 1 generation and he will help Mayfield get back on top after several  missed opportunities....this is a pretty cool feat and awesome that 3 generations will be playing in state championship game for Mayfield...good luck Cards.

Hold on, jack James is better than atwell. I’ve had to the privilege of training with Jack and Ian Williams. Jack is legit as strong as Ian. He’s fast as crap. If y’all don’t see these kids in the offseason… you won’t understand. Literally, after the may/pt game watch them train together that next morning. They went toe for toe and jack hung in there with Ian.

Not saying James is not better as a passer but iMO he's not as good of a runner as Atwell and is not ask to run design running plays like Atwell. The Christian County QB also has a different style of running as Atwell and was somewhat effective against Mayfield. Those 2 will help Mayfield game plan against Atwell was my point. MAYFIELD has played against 2 athletic QBs that should help in preparation. We all know what James bring to the table and I am fully aware of his training regime and it was evident in his physique. Total muscle and his running is also what helped PT beat Mayfield. Didn't mean to ruffle anyone's feathers...let the discussion continue...again a chess match for both coaching staffs.

In my opinion, the hardest thing to prepare for in football is a dual threat QB, especially one with his size and arm strength. This could be Mayfield’s toughest test yet.

PT had a pretty good QB that could run but NOT as good as Atwell, Christian County had one that gave Mayfield fits for a minute because he was very athletic and fast...but at the same time don't put Atwell in arms way to much against Mayfield and get him hurt especially early on because Mayfield will hit you and hit you hard...let the chess match begins...

Hayden is very good - if interested, watch this short video of Atwells highlights, and see some of the pinpoint passes he makes too.

Love the video and I am very surprised he only has 1 offer. May I ask who that offer is from? What these colleges look for in a athlete/football prospect has baffled me and with him having 1 offer makes me more baffled because he's definitely a athlete and a heck of a prospect. Tell him to just be patient they'll come. I would probably even pick him as my QB at next level because of his athletic ability. With all that being said I will hold off my pick of whose better until after the Mayfield game. Sometimes video don't give due justice as I was not that impressed with Hayden until I seen up close and personal his QB savyness is what impressed me the most..so let's see what he can do against Mayfield. As good as he maybe as I said with LCA receivers that ran through big bad Boyle Co. Secondary that's not happening against Mayfield and it didn't. OC receivers won't run through Mayfields Secondary either...man again this is the matchup on the backend...

I think if they beat us, it's an upset.

Da Truth: I finally got to watch more than just highlights of OC. IMO Atwell doesn't appear to be the best of the 3 QBs.  (BW/QB is the best) now he is a beast of a looking athlete that appears to almost be OC biggest player now I see why he plays some on defense.  Now his running could I say could be a little bit of a problem. OC doesn't have the running game LCA nor  receivers or passing scheme of BW. OC doesn't appear to be as athletic or fast as Mayfield at the skill positions or as some teams Mayfield has played. OC will have TROUBLE stopping JuJu and Mayfields receivers. If OC wins, yes, this will be an upset to me as well. I will definitely take battle tested Mayfield in this one.

Mayfield beat OC in 94 and I believe in 78. In 78, they had Chris Brown who played for the Pittsburgh Steelers and I was at the 94 and 78 games.

You're absolutely right about 78. Mayfield went undefeated and was state champs that year.  Actually Chris Biggers,  Xavier Biggers grandfather intercepted a pass from QB/Chris Brown who went to Notre Dame and played DB for Pittsburgh Steelers. Hopefully his grandson can get a interception against another great OC quarterback in a victory....go cards...

To me that ball could be moving but For a team that punched it’s Ticket to the state finals you sure are complaining a lot about the so called bad calls! If I  didn’t know who won the game I  would have thought Mayfield lost! I’m sure there are some Beechwood fans who feel there were some bad calls against them but you haven’t seen one Beechwood fan cry and moan about the calls! You won so enjoy the win!

I totally agree if you just read this thread you would've thought Mayfield lost. As a long time reader and recent subscriber I have always notice and recently said in a post SOME Mayfield fans (not all) on here definitely cry when they lose but sometimes more when they win...I was glad Mayfield won and hope they win next week on to the Owensboro thread...

  8. I just read on Beachwood and Mayfield thread that Atwell is best QB of the 3 including LCA's wow...Beechwood's QB was the real deal best I have seen in a very long while, he knew how to not take sacks and throw the ball away, just football savy....but is his receivers better?  Because BW had 2 of the best I have seen in a while including PT. They just knew how to scheme them open...if he's better, receivers and scheme is better then I want to see it and if so then Mayfield could be in trouble. Going with battle tested Mayfield in this one...

This is KHSAA website. Goes back to 2002. I also know that Mayfield beat BW in the 95 state championship game. That would be 9-2 record. Recent success yes, kryptonite no. I can’t see where the games were played over the years but I know the only 2 wins recently were not at War Memorial so I can say BW has never won at War Memorial. It’s tough to do.

Thank you all I wanted to know  was the series record with it being 9-2 that means at one point it was 9-0...not saying kriptonite or ducking anyone but both are pretty good records against a good program like Beechwood...when you factor in Mayfield has won at Beechwood and Beechwood has never won at Mayfield it gets interesting....forgot about the 95 championship also thanks for correcting me...not sure about watering the field but I do remember that being mentioned on this site...again in my opinion Beechwood is KING of 2A with 3 straight until someone beats them.... and beating Mayfield at Mayfield appears to be a tall task even for them...good luck to both teams and it appears the weather is going to be nice....

Beechwood has never moved down in class. They were 1A forever until they moved up to 2A in 2019. Mayfield has bounced up and down a couple of times but I’m not sure exactly which years.

I stand to be corrected if you're right...I do know when they were in same class talk was Beechwood appeared to move in class due to enability to beat Mayfield. I do think make leads in the series and Curious on what the series count is? And I do believe Mayfield has won at Beechwood once or twice and Beechwood has never won at Mayfield. Everything else seems to be correct?

You’re wrong on that. Just look up the scores when they played.

Come on mayfield faithful don't let BW bring up recent success as any type of measuring stick. Mayfield use to own Beechwood and beat them  anywhere starting in 2002 state championship game. Then in the playoffs at Mayfield and at Beechwood. Many Mayfield fans thought Beechwood moved down in class because they just couldn't beat Mayfield in the playoffs. Then in 2020 the year Murray beat Mayfield in the playoffs and Beechwood beat a great LCA team in state game. Beechwood really wanted to play Mayfield because they knew they had the better team and would of killed Mayfield. Then in 2021 that same Beechwood team basically reclassed due to covid and FINALLY beat Mayfield at home something like 35-6. Then of course a 1 point win in state game last year because of a missed extra point, overtime would of been interesting. Mayfield has had the better of Beechwood throughout history. Beechwood has won state championship three times straight and that is awesome and they are the favorites IMO until beaten. It should be a GREAT game but Mayfield does leads in the series and is playing at home.

Murray has had execution issues all year transitioning from option/ running football the last three years to a spread offense. Wilson the Qb for most of the year has had injury issues the second half of the season and didn’t play most of the last few games. He was back vs Mayfield and played well along with the two big WR’s. They played their best passing game of the year Friday. Jones has had to play QB a lot lately and it has changed their offense a lot. A lot of Mayfield fans have been so defensive lately and I don’t know why. Murray played a good game, Mayfield is better and should have won. According to most mayfield fans they should have won by 40 but Murray played really well and it was a one score game with 8 mins left. Some people have a hard time accepting that I guess.

Very well said.. from top to bottom...that's all I've been trying to say...give credit where it's due and not make excuses or talk negative to or about some..everyone knows Mayfield what they've accomplished but in past 3 or 4 years hated Murray has had the most success of anyone against Mayfield and has given LCA a little blue print on how to be successful...anyone that has watch Mayfield football and knows football knows Mayfields weakness....gotta get to the LCA thread and I truly do want Mayfield to win but what I seen from Murray game I be very worried and as a coaching staff it's time to do what you need to do to win...Onto the LCA tread.

Murray threw for 280 and rushed for like 130. Carman had 121 receiving and Jones had 105. Both teams punted 3 times. Murray had a few bad mistakes late in the fourth for it to get to a three score game. Murray does have a young undersized defense and I’m surprised a little bit that they made Mayfield punt 3 times in each of their games with the fire power and experience Mayfield has on O.

That's pretty good stats for a weak Murray high line as been said...now what was mayfield stats...know Mayfield done good rushing but passing?  Of course I still say murray picked their poison and the run got them...that's what you have to do against a good team...late 4th quarter and mayfield only up 8 and Murray with the ball HAS to be impressive.  Where Murray messed up is not continuing to throw to their 2 big receivers especially Carmen. This game does make me more concerned about next week because if Murray can do this what can LCA do...Mayfield will have to pick their poison now...as I move on to next week still wondering about Mayfields stats to see who had the most total yards...

It all depends on several factors, qb development and so forth. Murray beat the weakest Mayfield team in the last 12 years or so. I think Murray will be better in the next few years but I’m not sold on them beating Mayfield. They’ve only won 17 times in over a 100 tries.

How was it that Murray beat the weakest Mayfield team in 12 years and Paducah Tilghman,  Graves County, McCracken  etc didn't that year? Everyone knows who the road goes through but Murray will be primed again to beat another weak Mayfield team and Paducah will beat them again next year as well...Mayfield always got excuses for when they do lose and refuse to give the opponent any credit ie BW in their last 2 wins over Mayfield. Da truth is this Murray coach is better then the previous 2 Murray coaches and this 9th grade class beat Mayield twice with Josiah when they all were 8th graders even with a girl starting at DB...very curious of the total yards for both team  as Mayfield was successful running but not passing against the so call weak Murray line that had Mayfields QB running for his life all night...yes the road does and always will  through Mayfield no one will ever deny that but these next few years will be very interesting...

Jones caught like 4 passes on Biggers last night. One of them being a deflected ball that just happened to fall right in his hands. He did have the one big TD but the other 3 he had no yards after the catch. Yea I would say that’s the first time in Biggers career that he has had 4 passes completed on him in one game but you kinda act like Jeremiah dominated the game. He didn’t. I say that but also admit he is a great talent and a great kid.

I guess I just let everyone talk because if I say anything I'm a secret Murray fan that just talks about Biggers....but thank you guys for saying what I was trying to say which is da truth..this kid is going to wreck Mayfield next year. He's already considered a 3 star on the verge of being a 4 star recruit which hmm has Mayfield ever had one in past 30 years will there be one on team next year...

I honestly thought Beechwood was the favorite over Mayfield in the championship last year. I think some of y’all just hear a few people say they think Beechwood is not going to beat someone and act like the whole world is against you. Rarely is everyone going to be on the same page of who the best team is in their opinion.

This is just a form for people to voice their opinions nothing personal but some people clearly get upset when your opinions goes against theirs....I just love talking football and give me unbiased opinions...it's all good..some people you can tell by their opinions have never clearly played high level high or college football....and speak on feelings and emotions and not true knowledge of da truth about the game. I thus far have always respected your opinions

You’re a secret Murray guy. All season all you’ve talked about is Biggers.
By the way Murray has a pitiful defense and that will have to fixed before they can compete with a Mayfield.

I'm a person that has won state football championship,  played college football and have some knowledge of X and Os...I call out the truth without being biased...nothing to be secret about...if I say something that isn't the truth just let me know please....oh and if I am a secret Murray fan I will just say this...if Murray still have Biggers they beat Mayfield again this year giving them 3 wins against Mayfield....

  18. They will beat Mayfield next year for sure and probably the year after that...Murray had no fear in them against Mayfield and were confident because of their coach...nobody has mentioned the coaching job this guy has done from helping the kids get recruited to his coaching strategy.  I didn't understand why Mayfield never gave # 1 some help. Biggers done good enough other than the one TD and 7 did catch 1 that Biggers had actually batted down but I think that maybe the only TD reception hes given up in 4 years. Even when Murray almost scored before halftime Mayfield was still basically playing man to man and #1  got a pass interference call. Murray was not going to let Biggers beat them over the top so they basically doubled teamed him with safety over top BUT when they couldn't stop the run and the safety started to creep down Mayfield should of hit Biggers on the fly route...A new coaching sheriff is in town.
