  1. This is an outstanding hire by Carroll County. I believe they have hired one of the up and coming young head coaches. He comes from a football family. He has worked for some really good head coaches. But most importantly everyone I have talked to says to things about Coach Smith. 1. Players love him, he knows how to connect with kids. Also has a players first mentality. 2. He has a football mind. Really knows the game and studies it.

I'm not sure what type of program Carroll is or has been, but I do think with some time you are going see good things in Carroll County.

Does anyone have any idea here?

And what is going on at Carroll County!?

Joshua Smith was an assistant at Sayre this past season.

He has had couple of stints at Frankfort as Def. Cord.

Was at Shelby during their last semi-final run.

Had a short stint at KSU with Coach John L. Smith

Played college football at school in North Carolina. Played for Foley at Frankfort.

  3. Raceland is an upper tier Class A program and deserve to be mentioned as one. But like Hard Work stated Sayre is in year 4 of Varsity football and building something in Lexington. I wouldn't knock Raceland and I think it is unfair to knock Sayre. Both programs are in different phases of development.

Raceland is physical and that is number one issue Sayre will have to overcome. I am not sure if Sayre can play 48 minutes in the phonebooth with Raceland.

As for Sayre they will do a great job scheme wise on offense and put Raceland in some uncomfortable situations. They have some skill kids and a kid at QB that is having a great year. Sayre depth concerns me.

Raceland travels to Sayre and the Spartans are comfortable at home. This could be the best game in Class A Friday night.
