I'm excited to see what Hampton has in store for 2024. This is a 200 lb running back that's still officially a sophomore moving some serious weight. And we already know he's fast.

Kid is a beast. I'm hearing he and his brother might transfer to Catholic or move to Lexington. These guys can make or break Owensboro this year. If they stay they will be a year stronger and faster. If not... there's another set of Devils leaving our program.

A few back, they held a coaches banquet,in Mayfield, the keynote speaker was Tony Franklin, Franklin did not say what level he might be interested in coaching, but he did say he was interested. After all, that is w the type of offense Mayfield run,the Franklin spread.

If true, it will definitely be a great hire.

Not sure. Wayyy before my time. Mayfield has only had 3 coaches over the last 55 years. Their combined record is 627-118-2 since 1969. Over an 84% winning percentage amongst the three.

Ranked 3rd or 4th in ALL TIME WINS in the NATION.

This is what Nelson County put on social media

    Nelson County Athletics

We are excited to announce Coach Mike Rogers as the new Head Football Coach for the Nelson County Cardinals. Coach Rogers started his career here at Nelson County and has returned to us after making stops at Graves County, Warren Central, Paducah Tilghman, Murray State University, and Mayfield High School along the way.
With 237 wins and 96 losses, Coach Rogers has an incredible resume by being a part of 8 regional championships, 7 state semi final appearances, 5 state runner ups, and 1 state championship! He was the 2010 and 2011 Kentucky Football Coaches Association State Coach of the Year and selected by Nike as the Midwest Coach Representative for Team USA.
Welcome home Coach!!!! Go Cards, FULL NELSON!!!!

Is this all as a head coach? W-L and the state runners up appearances, etc?

Mayfield has a shot, like OC but until the QB situation gets sorted out then they will be a mild contender. Beechwood will be hard to beat but are they beatable? I think so.

Is Atwell leaving? Not sure what you mean by the QB situation? Catholic is a huge contender.

Beechwood has every single skill player back.  3 of the best 2A receivers in the state, one of the top returning running backs in 2A in the state and one of the top 4-5 QB’s in the entire state of Kentucky regardless of class. They have 4 starting OL/DL men returning and they are getting a 6’4” 270 lb transfer lineman who played at Moeller last year.  Their line will be the biggest and most athletic line they have had there in recent memory.  The only 2 games they lost last season was to 4A runner up Cov Cath in the last minute and then lost in the semis to the eventual state champ Mayfield 31 to 28.  I think the Atwell kid is an exceptional player and I am sure they have some other really good players but based on the information above I think there is a good possibility it may be a few more years for OC.

Then it’s over. Let’s simulate the whole 2024 season now.

  7. I'm a beloved OHS fan but if they leave we are going to hurt badly at RB and LB. Hopefully it's just a rumor. Catholic gets Both Hampton's they will have a RB that they need and another LB.

If they don't win 2-A with these transfers then I don't think it will ever happen.

It's a little more complicated than that. This time of year if there aren't any positions available for prospective coaches on the outside, then districts, especially those where there are more than one high school in the district, don't fully know their staffing allocations for the next school year.

This is also the time of year where district letters of intent are also being sent out and signed. Now and the next couple weeks is when individual schools and districts as a whole have a better of idea of what will be available and what won't. If it's going to be an internal hire, then more times than not that's not even an issue (if in fact they are already teaching in the building and/or district somewhere).

This time of year, depending on the flexibility given to those who are on the hiring committee, can be really tough with boys/girls basketball, wrestling, swimming, archery etc going on where AD's and other admin, along with parents who are representing members of the SBDM that may or may not be on the committee that have their own kids with their schedules (especially those in high school).

Often times, hiring committees, if made up of 4-6 people usually try to have a SBDM at the high school that has some skin in the game. If the principal and AD can get a member that fills the role of a parent as well a a staff member? That's usually a go to move.

In other instances, the hire is placed solely in the hands of the AD & if they have no teaching responsibilities (which, none of them should have to worry about teaching IMO), then they can typically move a lot faster bc they have their days wide open & evening athletic schedules don't come into play.

With all of that said, I'm about 100% positive that the interview process has started (late last week) and/or is beginning this week.

Very good perspective of the process. Appreciate it.

Could’ve been if he actually wanted to play the role. Winstead was an All-Star at the middle school and freshman level but plateaued imo and wasn’t very consistent his junior year. Maddox(sophomore) played some receiver towards the end of the season. Young fast & talented kid just needs to gain a few pounds. I expected him to play a pretty decent role in the Red Devils offense next year.

If it stays just those 3 Red Devils that left then I think the O will be ok. If the Hamptons switch over then that would be disastrous.

If Hampton Or Chadyn Morris transferred I would say it’s a huge pickup.

His best years were due to several players transferred in, so it definitely works both ways

He had some close wins of beating Owensboro in 2020 that I thought were impressive then he gets beat by Apollo in 2020 later in the year.

The guy had a great run at a very difficult place to win.
