Yes individual award, but I think playoff performance definitely should be factored in. A big reason for that IMO is validation of stats. A player can face weak competition and rack up big numbers. When we see that player perform in late round playoff games it is a chance to validate those numbers. Daniel Thomas this year is a great example of that for me.

I can agree with that. I do believe Wood left that game with an injury and it wasn’t a blow out at the time. I do believe it should be factored as well. I don’t believe it makes up for lack of stats.

Carothers had 884 receiving yards and 11 TD to go with it as well.  Walker Wood got blown out in the championship game, Carothers carried his team on his back.  I am biased though, so to each their own.

Championship games are a team accomplishment. Also, it’s a 6A championship compared to a 5A championship. Mr. Football is an individual body of work. 60+ tds in a season and almost 4500 yds of offense is a better season IMO. Even with a championship win.

You have a right to your opinion, but this is inaccurate. Walker Wood rushed 200 times in 2016 for 1320 yards while Jamale Carothers rushed 181 times for 1410 yards in 2016

Jamale Carothers won the award fair and square accounting for 5 TDs in the 2016 5A Championship game. IMO

So he had less than 100 yards rushing is grounds for Mr. Football? Carothers had a great season, but when you add in that Wood had 3000+ passing yds and 30+ TDs throwing, shouldn’t be hard to decide.

  4. I saw that on June 10th a couple of former and current college football guys got together and conducted a High School football SKILLS camp and actually taught skills and leadership. It is nice to see a camp that isn't focused mainly on college coaches seeing you. The Instructors were:

Walker Wood - Former UK and Mcneese St QB

Beau Allen - Former UK, Tarleton St and current Georgia St QB

Devin Leary - Former NC State QB and current UK QB

Matthew Guilfoil - Former Morehead St WR

Quinten Brown - Former Lindsey Wilson WR

Dane Key - Current UK WR

Kash Daniel - Former UK LB

It is a refreshing to see our most talented high school prospects give back to the talent in this state as the younger generation is coming up.

I think he is hosting another one in Eastern Kentucky at Shelby Valley High on July 15th.
