You all are right about those names, but I'll be honest, there's another name that isn't local that I believe to be the front-runner based off who I have talked to. Stay tuned!

The best thing for GC is to not hire someone within or even local in the county. Heard rumblings already that Kasey McRay (Former Mercer County Assistant and Current Centre College Assistant) has thrown his name in the hat.

Also, not sure when the job will be posted. Maybe someone more familiar with the hiring processes can give an idea on when that job posting should open up.

I've heard that part of the original reason to transfer to Boyle was the new Garrard coach's reluctance to keep him on the staff.

I have NO idea if that's even remotely true, but I do know that people in Garrard are saying it.

Completely not true at all. He had a job on staff up until the day they submitted the transfer to Boyle. I’m almost certain Montice and Crutchfield went to school and played basketball/football together. From what I understand they were really close friends.

Why would Montice move his son from a program that is playing for a state championship?  A program that has put his son in the spotlight by being able to play at Kroger Field. No other program in the area could do that. I am just curious.

Maybe Montice wants a head coaching job? I’m just feeding information I’ve received. Do I think it happens? No. Again, just relaying information I’ve gotten from people in the Danville School system.

Has Coach Cooper been a head coach before?

I'm still hearing Parks for Danville.  But I agree, if it's not Clevenger I'm not sure Danville recovers.

I’ve heard Clevenger, Stonebraker, Parks, and a dark horse candidate in Montice Quisenberry, who would bring his son. Also, his daughter is currently enrolled at Danville, but has been ruled ineligible for the girls basketball team.

He hasn’t that I'm aware, He’s a great guy, he will soon get his chance I believe. Just don’t see him getting this high profile of a job as his first job. I’ve been wrong Before though.

Super nice guy. But with all due respect, if Danville entertains the idea of him getting the job then I can guarantee they will not have a football team next year.

Another chat forum has listed Steve Stonebreaker as a candidate. Would be a really good hire, but he's still at Casey County coming off a big year, why would he leave?

He will not be at Casey next year. I think you will see him at Danville or maybe even Somerset.

  7. I think this will be a sneaky competitive game. After getting to watch Garrard and Danville both last week, I’m falling on who wins the line of scrimmage. I think Garrard has an advantage on the line on both sides of the ball. Garrard has to sustain their drives and protect the football. For Danville, you have an absolute stud in Brown who will be the best player on the field and who can score at anytime.

That being said, if Garrard limits Danville’s big plays I think they can pull it off. Danville was undisciplined and very very fatigued against Lincoln last week. If the Golden Lions can keep it close until the 4th quarter I think they pull it out.

If you were an athlete with college aspirations, would you choose Boyle or Garrard? Build it and they will come. All Boyle has to do is keep winning and athletes will pursue playing there.

They don’t make athletic transfers! It’s always been academic transfers and surprisingly they don’t have any issues accepting the really good athletes who are also good students! Duh.

  9. One is a done deal. The other is a hard rumor at this point. I just don’t see this turning out good (Between Coaching Staffs). There is going to be some BAD blood coming from these decisions. I was told that Boyle backed off both when Crutchfield got hired. Now, I think those rumors in themselves were false. It will be very interesting to see what comes of it. This won’t be a subtle transfer from what I am hearing.

This will be my last comment on the situation.  I don't care who they hire, but as a former/proud alum that played on some of the most successful teams in school history it is incredibly sad that Coach Rogers never received a formal interview.  Not only, was he one of the most storied players in school history he has been apart of the program for the last decade as a coach in various roles including offensive and defensive coordinator.  Even if they had no intention on hiring him, that process could've proved valuable for him moving forward, and was merited based on the work that was put in (and results).  If not for a couple injuries to key players, last year's team would've finished with 8 or 9 wins.  To close, best of luck to the next coach, but it will be an uphill battle as various area schools are improving their facilities and investing in their programs and Lincoln County still can't produce a feasible practice facility surface for their players.  The grass quickly turns to hard rock dirt throughout the season, but we want to talk about the pride and tradition.  Invest into the young men that wear the red and white.  Death Valley is a special place on Friday nights, and I hope the program will continue to improve.

You hit the nail on the head! This whole situation was handled as poorly as possible. The administration is completely to blame. The lack of communication between the administration and current coaching staff is beyond ridiculous. The kids are the most important part of this whole situation and I feel like they were thought about last in every decision that was made by the administration. Good luck to whoever is hired as the next head coach. With the surrounding area schools in Garrard, Boyle, and Pulaski Counties pouring money and time into the kids, I would say the high school transfer portal is completely open at Lincoln County.

    Something to think about:

"Supposedly" a candidate was offered the job this week. It's Thursday, and there is yet to be an announcement. That could mean it was turned down?

There is now a shift in who is running the weight program. Does this indicate Rogers has moved on?

Say the job is still not filled by the weekend, it appears as if the process isn't over. So where will Lincoln go next? This thing is just now heating up.

I will say that the next head coach will not be from the current staff at Lincoln.

I'm told that weight lifting will continue. Coach Cooper is going to take over according to the people I've talked to. Not sure what all has happened this morning. Does this hurt Rogers potentially?

I reached back out and heard the same thing. I was going off of what I had heard last night. I believe Rogers has removed himself from continuing the weightlifting until a hire is made.

I don’t think the weight room got shut down because of a no interview, I think maybe everyone is reading to much into the fact that weight lifting has been cancelled (including myself) Could be just another reason why it was cancelled, sometimes things come up in life as well, these guys have families too.

It is shut down until someone is hired.

It was their decision to begin the weight program. They did that for the kids and the program. I think both thought they'd be interviewed, at least.

For them to determine right now to pause the lifting, that shows you how poorly the administration has handled things. Two men working for the program while they don't even know their own futures? Speaks volumes. I think this move is to just hope that a hire is made quicker. I agree it's a shame this happened, but 100% justified.

All the administration did was hurt the kids by the way they’ve handled the whole situation. I think the hire was/will be made because of what one person in the school system wanted. He didn’t want Rogers or Cooper to have a shot at the job.

  15. 10 minutes ago, Seybold24 said:

Very unfortunate, To personal I believe, it happens. Hopefully everyone gets together and works this out.

You can’t blame Rogers or Cooper. Maybe they feel like they are being used by the administration to keep the program up and running while they go hire someone else and keep them in the dark.

I will say from what I know and have heard, looks like it will be Jaggers job to have.

I’m leaning towards Foley or Rodgers. Rodgers just makes more sense than anyone listed. Maybe him not being a teacher has came into play and will keep him from being the head man. I figured he would travel down to Lancaster and be one of Crutchfields assistants if he didn’t get the head position. With Garrard County already having 8+ coaches on staff it’s hard to see where he will fit in on the staff. I’m sure Coach Crutchfield would find him a spot no doubt. But the more I talk to people around Stanford it seems like Rodgers might stay regardless if he gets the job or not. Surely this thing will wrap up by the end of the week or first of next.

He isn’t going to stay if he’s not hired. I’ve heard from someone close to him that he’s been offered a DC position and an OC position at different schools if he isn’t hired as the HC. Also, he’s more than likely going to have a spot on Crutchfield’s staff if he wants to be there. So he’s got options.

I’m not sure what your getting at here. You names off 4 other kids, all I’m saying is it’s going to be tough sledding, is the ceiling there winning district or competing for state titles? Why would you leave LC to be in the same situation minus just winning district, their is a pretty good possibility that Boyle drops down to 3A again, Catholic will probably follow suit in 2023, then if their is a district realignment your going to sit here and tell me they are going to compete for it? Not gonna happen. Don’t get to comfortable with the district you have right now, it could change soon, and then you have one really good year (this year) and poof all the talk is gone about competing for their district or even competing for state titles, even if you win your district and it all stays as is, you have to deal with Paducah Tilghman, Belfry, LaRue County and cutter Boley, etown, their is a lot of really good teams in 3A I’m not sure Garrard will have the talent to compete year in and year out, next year will be there year to do something special if they can make it all work, and again I hope they do, but to sit here and downplay LC like their is no chance in winning is kinda ridiculous with the same thing could very easily happen to Garrard after this year.

It doesn’t matter who you have to play, if you are good enough to win state, you are good enough no matter who you play. Any school can win at anytime. You have to have great players and great coaches. That’s why you play the game. If you aren’t playing to win a State Championship then why play?

I think they will compete but I also saw Hilton own Crutchfield at Log Mountain. 100% out coached and thats not a knock on Crutchfield but Dudley and his staff are on a different level. A lot of poor personnel decisions when LC played them and the game was bad in all phases. So not getting it done with the talent he had at LC doesn't make me optimistic about GC.

For you to know so much about Lincoln football you’d also know that Lincoln had 3 linebackers out that also included Lee Amon at RB, and also Lincoln had 2 practices that week because of being out the previous week with Covid. Not taking anything away from Bell County but come on…

Any football player who played at LC for Crutchfield last year, will be ineligible to play at GC regardless of moving etc.  That's a KHSAA by law.

Simply not true… there are ways around that. If a kid wants to attend a school they can do it. Crutchfield is not recruiting any kids to play at Garrard. I know him and his family personally. He is not that way and I guarantee he has encouraged kids to stay at LC.
