Take away their district play- which they have no control over. (They are in a 6 team district which only leaves 5 non district games)

    2 (6A TEAMS) - McCracken & Henderson = Henderson has won 5 of the last 7

    1 (5A TEAM) -  Graves 2 of last 5

1 (2 A Team) State Champions  - Mayfield has defeated Tilghman 17 of last 18

1 (1 A Team) - Was in the finals three years ago!

Looks very similar to the same schedule they have played for the past several years give or take!

Agreed it is very soft and stat padding season to say the least imo, but the tough schedule we had a couple years was from coach smith and we only had 4 district games in 3A so we had south warren and with Russellville we had Henry county tn witch would help us going into the playoffs but not our rpi and Russellville doesn’t help us in any way and Henderson the last couple years was a good 6A team and there just down now so those are the only two that could be replaced. McCracken, Graves and Mayfield won’t. But wished we could gotten a Louisville area and a top bowling green area school again. But it’s all about stats…

Congrats to PT qb Jack James on winning the state championship in wrestling in the 215 lb class this afternoon. Lb Uriah Virzi finished 2nd at 190 lbs. Lb Jimmy Mooney finished 3rd at 285.

PT finished 4th as a team, in large part to the football guys who also wrestle.

Wilson the running back placed 4th

PT has everything they need to win a state title. That is also true of the other teams still contending in 4A. The question for both teams will be not be who has the biggest strength/ advantage it will be who can expose the others weakness. I have watched very little Cov Cath this year. For PT they have really good size up front but I am not sure they can control the OL to establish a consistent running game against good competition. So being one dimensional I think could be a weakness.

The long trip will also be a factor. It is nice that school is out so atleast you can leave Paducah as needed.

My guess is a really fun and competitive 34-24 game with the home team winning. But I really hope that I am wrong. Neutral field I would take PT.

We definitely can run the ball when needed. The back is a sophomore with an 1000 yards and averages 7-8 yards a carry . I don’t believe that’s our weakness.

Mayfield's two young running backs, one a freshman - one a sophomore, picked up big chunks of rushing yards leading to the Cardinals victory. Way too many penalties on both sides.

Lol Since when did mayfield care about jv I couldn’t tell you the last we lost a jv game to mayfield and that was half of our jv kids

I’m not saying one way or the other and before I say this I realize a game is 48 minutes long and every minute counts but with 6 minutes left Mayfield was up 38-17 and had the ball in Henderson territory driving to possibly make it 45-17. The QB drops back to throw, rares back and the ball completely slips out of his hands and he throws it about ten yards backwards. Henderson recovers and goes down and scores. Mayfield then just runs the clock out to end the game. Like I said, take that for what it’s worth. It’s all part of the game. Penalties were also atrocious towards Mayfield but that’s also part of the game. With all that being said, Mayfield probably has the best non-QB skill player in 2A outside of maybe Brady Hensley in Xavier Biggers. The Mayfield coaching staff refuses to use him. He has 7 catches on the year with 4 going for TDs. He’s an absolute stud on both sides of the ball. If they don’t use him on offense then have no chance to win a state championship.

Maybe should have stayed a tiger, with a good chance of beating them. Looks like Murray is playing good football….imo

Don't you play about the same schools we play? ..........That's what I thought.

Look at schedules the last few years we have played teams from Tennessee, Louisville and bowling green area etc.. if we played just the local area school our record would look a lot better. Us or McCracken are y’all toughest regular season opponent year in and year out

Oh yeah a school with 500 kids should be scheduling and beating schools with 2,000 kids every year. Makes sense. Mayfield has always played up. You will never see them schedule a school in their class or below it. And yet they still have the third most wins all time nationally. Pretty impressive no matter how you try to discredit it.

well, we have to play all the slack schools in western Ky like Paducah. would be nice if some of the bigger schools in west ky would play UP to Mayfield's level that way we wouldn't be having these conversations. I would be ashamed being a 4A,5A,or 6A school and get my tail whipped every year by once a 1A now 2A team. what is Mayfield supposed to do drive 4 hours every Friday to play the bigger, better schools?  at least mayfield doesn't have to pay for our players like PT did. must be nice to have a rich booster 🙊

Come on now graves is one of the biggest counties in kentucky y’all have been stealing the county kids for years so saying we’re on ky 1A or 2A sounds good but you get the pick of a 5A or 6A program and look y’all just got a kid from Murray but no one speaks on that and yea his parents maybe from there but it’s odd he comes to mayfield for his 5th year of highschool and further more y’all was booming with money when y’all had the tire plant down or did we forget about the jobs given and we haven’t paid no one nothing that kid had ties to Paducah his farther coached at heath high school… mic drop boom!

If I’m not mistaken, I remember my uncle telling me that back in the day only 1 team made the playoffs per district . Tilghman and Mayfield used to play on Thanksgiving. Winner of the district got in. Others went home. The setup was different back then …And The Cards are actually #3 Nationally

Third sounds nice but it isn’t like y’all play a jaw dropping schedule either

I think Mayfield would love it if PT used Carter to try to take Biggers out of the game because regardless of what has been said on here, if you take them two off the field Mayfields skill guys are deeper and better than the rest of Paducahs and I don’t really think it’s even that close. If Paducah wins this game it will be in the trenches. If Paducah went with a run the ball down your throat game plan then I think they would win this game but they’re too caught up in the passing game and putting the game in James hands to ever do that.

I don’t see how I think they are deeper at skilled and yes we definitely need to run the ball more I totally agree. But the film I seen biggers is the man. I seen the zoom give up some big plays to some graves wr and their back had over 100 yards rushing and he wasn’t even the feature back against us.

Hold on now...in 17 years this has never been a problem for Mayfield...

Tilghman has not played kids one way the last 17 years but last year we did. And being undisciplined lost that one but mayfield was beat last year mentality and physically , but that was last year. Also I understand the hype with biggers but has he ever locked someone down like Carter? Or has he ever been guarded by someone like Carter? Matter fact the legion of zoom? But I believe if coached right he will take him out the game but that’s coaching.. so we’ll see and from what I’m hearing we’ll have 4 starters out so that will make difference I'm sure but hey that’s football next man up!

I wouldn’t go that far. After 17 years it’s definitely lost its prominence. 🥱 More excited for the catfish sandwich from the concessions!

Don’t do that you know y’all mayfield fans, the whole town and players take this seriously, I know y’all get the hype about being the top 3 in the nation in wins but come on now this game is majority of the time the toughest game on your regular season schedule.

I'm gonna let you PT guys in on a little secret, if you're a junior or you're a marginal recruit the D1 schools aren't going to offer you this early in the season. Now the Carter kid is an exception, he has the size and speed to play SEC football. Too many things can happen.

I guess you know all the little secrets, the blue grass Mel Kiper jr.

The qb is a decent to good qb. He is a marginal prospect at this point. Just be cause you say these guys have D1 offers doesn't make it so.  I would say Mayfield has 4 players off the top of my head that will get D1 offers. Starks, Dabney, Jackson and Biggers but I'm just guessing. I'm talking Murray State and the like.

    “You would say” but haven’t
