You guys have left out Nick Saban, the ghost of Knute Rockne, and various successful youth coaches. Otherwise, the over-inclusive group seems to have captured the likely candidates.

It has been a quiet process but I’d guess we’ll  know something before the end of the month.

I can name some pretty great little league coaches from the 80s, 90s from Lincoln that would be on that list.

Yeah, we'll have to agree to disagree on that one.

We can agree to disagree on this . The senior class and sophomore class has had no problems competing with and beating the Boyle county teams until “the you know who’s in roll “. There’s some good talent in the program now and has some freshman that can be big time players for Lincoln county.

I’m sorry like I said we can not agree.  A 6”5 240 running and throwing QB would be my pick as best Casey Co. Football player in years.  Not exactly a powerhouse program.

Best player I would say going back to 2016 when Casey had DJ White.

Five high schools - Stanford in the county seat, Crab Orchard, Hustonville, McKinney, and Waynesburg Memorial all in the county. Only Stanford played football. Basketball has long been very strong in the county. I've spoken with multiple football coaches from Lincoln County over the years who said their roster was primarily Stanford kids with a much small percentage coming from out in the county.

You’re right on the nail with this comment. I’ll say this the biggest down fall to Lincoln football was the parks and rec taking over youth football. The high school football team had a killer feeder system back when it was at the school ran by the lions club. Travis Lefew started the school based youth football his last year here and it showed producing over 200 football players 3rd grade - 6th grade.

This couldn’t be more wrong. Don Story, Athletic Director at the time, brought Larry French to Lincoln County.

What hires have been wrong/bad? The coach after Larry French was highly-accomplished and sought after. If his wife at the time was not from Lincoln, I doubt he would have come when he did.

The Coach after that was already on staff and was a known entity with the admin at the time. He’s a football guy, through and through.

Then, the most recent coach was cherry-picked by his alma mater after being seen as successful at Lincoln.

Hindsight is 20/20 but the losing seasons at Lincoln over the last twenty years are not a product of hiring wrong coaches, or having coaches who are incompetent.

Personally, I hope either Levi or Daniel get the job, turn it all around, and stay for 30 to 40 years and becomes a coaching legend. That’s what the program needs—consistently and success—from a long term  coach (and a feeder program that is pumping out Jimmys and Joes like the good old days).

Ask Don about the parent community who meet with him and off school grounds and push the hiring of French and Jackson. Now Don made the hires yes but he listened to everyone involved with the process not just the administration.

I'm just glad the administration is doing what they feel is the best for the kids and not who some parents of players want.

Well the parents are the ones who got Larry French here and we see how that worked out compared to the hires of the administration. Lol !

80%? Do you watch the football/basketball games? By my count only 4 play football Davis, Horton twins and Lane. That tells me about 19% play football.

Cody Carter and Landon day and Lee Amon  quit basketball, the twins and lane both Davis brothers, Conner has played every year but last and 3 of the freshman are playing that would’ve been 4 this year last year 8 played both.

  8. Let me just throw these numbers out there.
with Levi and Cooper running the weightlifting, there’s 80 kids working out  not counting the 3 incoming freshman that’s still playing middle school basketball, 5-6 high schoolers playing basketball. Your looking at almost 90 kids when we’ve been averaging 40-60 kids in 4A. To me that speaks loudly of what coaches is leading them right now.

Whoever takes it needs to get the basketball kids out. Those are some good looking kids!

80 percent of the basketball team plays football. Only jaxson smith and alcorn don’t. The freshman threw juniors have a ton of football players playing both.

You have talked down on kids that tranfer schools, you was the main one complaining about kids leaving Lincoln County to play baseball at Danville, and kids leaving Lincoln to play football elsewhere, because parents thought it was the best thing to do for there kid. Tables changed quickly now you're talking about moving your kid elsewhere.

Oh I don’t wanna leave. It would be a tough pill to swallow but at the end of the day I’m going to have to do what’s best for my youngest. Yeah I’ve busted some balls on transfers and I’m sure I’ll get it back. But if you wanna call me out use your real name not a screen name ! And really we don’t have to leave he can stay here and just play baseball or basketball . I won’t transfer to Boyle or Danville just to buy a championship……… there’s more options like Casey, or garrard!!!!

  11. Let’s start here!
1- Spencer did good but he only changed the winning attitudes of the players he had in highschool. Kids would run threw a wall for him.
2- nothing and I mean nothing has been done to fix our little league program here since Travis redone it 6 years ago.

In that 1 year we had almost 200 kids playing little league. Since then nobody has kept the work up and we are licking to have 50-60 kids playing now.
we have dropped the ball and our coaches haven’t fixed it period. That’s a problem.

When I say we make the right hire I’m saying we have to hire someone that comes here ready to make a farm system from the little league to middle school and with fixing those problems will eventually fix your high school program. They gotta make a hire who wants to change the culture not just come here win some games and eventually leave for somewhere such as Boyle.
Kids could stand behind Levi knowing he’s done it threw every level of Lincoln football and would do everything to get it back to that level.

Times have changed, and I get that, but thinking that kids would move to a different community and change schools over a coach they don’t know or haven’t met, is foreign to me.

The boys I played with, played because (1) we loved the game, (2) we loved our school, and (3) we loved our community. We just so happened to love and respect our coach, but we would have worn the Lincoln uniform and played even if Pee Wee Herman was the coach.

It’s a free country and you are free to move wherever you want and send to your kids to whatever school will accept them. I never begrudge anyone for doing what they think is best for their kids. I always did that for mine.

I guess if Levi or Daniel are hired, people can say their threats worked. If not, we’ll see if they enter their kids in the transfer portal.

Rogers or Cooper, EITHER ONE, will be a hire that the community supports more than Foley or Jaggers. This is the message I constantly receive when I contact people associated with the program. This is not an insult nor a comparison of resumes, it's just the opinion I constantly receive. Cooper already teaches. He's not being discussed enough but he's been just as important to the rebuild as Rogers was. Regardless, either assistant needs to be the guy, or things for Lincoln Football go south. Just opinions I get, thought I would share.

I can honestly say that this hire will result if I move my child or not. Spending the last 14-15 years helping with little league and raising money with Travis and helping with Spencer only to see we are at square 1 again. Honestly if we don’t hire Levi I’m afraid of who all may leave. A lot of people are standing behind him and Cooper in the area. If the hiring committee don’t see that than it’s a slap in the face to the whole community. Also point out with those two leading weightlifting theirs been 79-85 kids coming out to get ready that speaks volume to me who the kids want to play for!
