Consolidation is the most anti student thing that could be done in carter county, which is why they will probably do it.

Shelby Valley's top receiver, Anthony Pallotta, is reclassifying to class of 2022 and will return next year.
Do you know of anyone else on the Wildcats roster did? I know their biggest obstacle to a district title was denied the opportunity. Tip of the hat to pike county schools for serving kids!

5-7 wins.

I can’t comprehend how anyone can think a schedule like this would help improve anything. I tend to believe this type of schedule, in it’s entirety, will destroy more than it it rebuilds.

Enrollment is down Einstein. Districts who denied access not only put the screws to those which they are supposed to serve, while placing their athletic teams at a great disadvantage.

I cannot fathom how any board of education could not give any students of their district the opportunity of this. I guess those boards that denied it know better than the students and parents who applied

If they need to be disrespected to get up for this game then they are in trouble. I’m pretty sure Beechwood isn’t disrespecting this team. They know it will be a tough game for them.
Nah man anyone with a brain respects beechwood, what that program has respectfully accomplished is outstanding. As far as the Comets being in trouble though, that’s how they approach everything.

West Carter has played against 3 decent QB's this year - Paintsville senior QB Jake Hyden, Walton-Verona junior QB Trey Hatmaker, and Shelby Valley freshman QB Russ Osborne.
Hyden is the best of the three with the best combination of experience and talent. Paintsville beat up West Carter 34-12 on 10/17. As good as Hyden is, he's no Cam Hergott.
It's a matchup nightmare for West Carter simply because they haven't seen a diverse offense like this all year and, ultimately, you have to choose which of the two areas you're willing to get beat in - on the ground or through the air - and pray you can bend and not break. I just think what Cam brings to the table is going to be too much for the Comets.
Keep in mind too...Beechwood is loaded with weapons, led by emerging junior tailback Avery Courtney and one of NKY's top game changers in sophomore WR/RB Mitchell Berger.
1. Who in the state is a better qb than Hergott?
2. Paintsville beat up? Their was a minimum 12 point swing on one questionable call, which to my understanding the explanation did not support to replay. That td stands, there is no pick six, and paintsville is chasing west instead of being chased.
3. A heartfelt thanks to each and everyone who has taken the time to disrespect and delegitimize the accomplishments of this Comet team. Those hard nosed young men thrive on adversity.

I am a maroon bleeding comet fan, but I have a tremendous amount of respect for Prestonsburg! Hope they keep improving...they are on the right track! They showed up and competed...which is the exception and not the rule considering all the “red”/yellow teams!

I think West is still 2A top ten material, easily. But they're looking way up at the top tier of that class.
Game turned on 2 turnovers, a spot, and two questionable td calls. There are 4 teams in 2a that the rest of the class looks up to, as Russel does to Ashland in 3a

Should be an interesting and revealing night for both programs.

Sept 11 is a big game for more than one reason isn’t it?

Looking forward to seeing schools survive and overcome the many economic issues in Eastern Kentucky. The schools inside Boyd, Greenup, Carter, and Lewis can make it and hopefully they will!

There will have to come a time when everyone will need to either watch Animal house or YouTube “Blutos speech,” and get going. The consequences of the foreseen and unforeseen consequences of not playing this fall are non-recoverable.

No concessions? I have been overwhelmed with the gloom and doom negativity on here but just exactly how are football and band programs supposed to make it without any financial assistance. You remove financial sustainability, you remove sports. Remove sports and charter schools are the only option.

Herd immunity will come quicker than relief from scientists or people I will not mention on this board.

Disagree. There should be numerous treatment options coming in the upcoming months. As to a vaccine, I am confident the majority of the population does not take part in the flu vaccine. The last numbers I seen, flu was still in the lead for most deaths.
I am not advocating ignorance, but am against the extreme that a vaccine and its timeline are the only cure all. I as with anyone eagerly await a vaccine, but it’s not the only option on the table.

I would think another issue would be busses, you would be putting lots of folks together in a very confined space with older coaches and bus drivers.
If that’s an issue then public schools are dead. Turn out the lights the party is over!

I think we will see sports again in Kentucky in Fall of 2021.
The NFL could provide testing for high schools nationwide if they want to save their sport. Lowe’s could sponsor the The streaming of all games, and following Lowe’s lead we know their business is exempt from any restrictions.

One things for sure, I hope the vast majority of posters/experts on this thread have no say in the decision as to whether or not there is a season. Never have I seen a more pessimistic thread about such a sacred topic. Gloom and doom cash it in.
With the spread of the virus by July we will either be better or be worse...but ideally there are multiple items that could be discussed to solve the problem.
One thing that I believe wholly, as with everything else, people are just gonna have to go through it without any assistance from the government or science. By July hopefully people just do it, with possibly some attendance restrictions and technological off site viewing options

Looking forward to East carter and Shelby valley games. I believe these two games represent both old rivalries and new.

If we want to move something, how about Soccer to spring?
Forget the original post....moving soccer to spring would be awesome. Football players having access to soccer and vise versa.

West Carter had 4 seniors and four sophomores apply. They were denied access to the opportunity. I don’t know how many east carter kids were interested, but they were denied by 3 board members as well.
