  1. To me, the biggest things that stick out about the program are that the kids do not appear to be having "fun" playing the game of football. There is also a reluctance to make any philosophical changes based upon the players currently in the program in preparation for the following year. There are little to no in game adjustments that occur, with the belief that "We are Highlands" and this is what we do. If a kid plays freshman football and then does not come back for varsity competition, nobody goes and finds out why. This is the first year that I can remember that kids were kicked off the team for not coming to practice during the bye week, but yet another kid was permitted to go on vacation with family of girlfriend and miss the first summer scrimmage. Inconsistent treatment and hurts team chemistry. What occurred leading up to the playoff game should never be condoned and that assistant coach should have been shown the door right then and there.

I, as a former player and parent of a player, want to see the discipline restored to the program. If you are not all in, then you are out. There is no "I" in "team" and that goes for the coaches and the players.

    You gotta elaborate on that!

  2. This really makes me happy. I was never thrilled about him coming back when he did, but he probably was the best coach available at the time. Either way, Jurich should have never given him the pay that he did, but that’s water under the bridge and they have things figured out.

He was only rehired because he and Jurich are great friends/Montana boys. No one else (at a Power 5 program) would have ever given him that kind of money, so he definitely outbid himself. Brent Venables would have been a better option (and will be for this year). Thankfully AD Tyra is able to get a fresh start with both major programs. Also, glad the nepotism is done on the coaching staff. That was an absolute joke to the program to have those three on the staff.

  3. Maybe the most impressive punt I’ve ever seen from a high school punter.

There’s a good one going on in Newport!

Desales probably needs to commit to their pass game. They’re good on the timing routes.

Newcath probably needs to commit to the max-protect passing game. Catch the snap and throw deep to Posey or throw a slant to one of the inside receivers. Put Kelly out to run routes if you’ve got another back that can help in pass pro.
