From what I have seen, Suiter has an accurate leg but not a big leg. Kickoffs will be returnable for Beechwood. Suiter is 5-7 on field goals and 57-60 on extra points. Mayfield has returned 1 kickoff and 1 punt for TD's.

On the Beechwood side, kicking was impacted dramatically when Berger was injured. He was a weapon punting the ball. Many punts over 50 yards and a number of punts downed inside the 5 yard line. He was putting kickoffs into the end zone. He did not miss an extra point and was 1 for 1 on field goals. His leg was strong enough to kick 45 yard field goals. Punting, the Tigers have only punted the ball 4 times in the last six games but the new punter has been solid. After the Berger injury, Beechwood players recruited a classmate who wasn't even on the team to place kick and he has done a nice job. He has enough leg to get kickoffs inside the 10 with hang time. His leg is strong enough to kick a 40 yarder. He is 26-31 on extra points. He has not attempted a field goal. Beechwood has retuned 1 kickoff for a TD and no punt returns for TD.

To your point on punt returns, Beechwood has fumbled SEVERAL. It truly is one of the few weaknesses in their game that I hope coach Rash has addressed.   It didn’t affect games bc they were up, but in a tight game like what I expect tomorrow, that could be the difference.

  2. Beechwood - 21

    Mayfield - 10

In a CLOSE game.  I think Beechwood wins, but I also think both teams will be in this game through the 4th quarter.  One of those kinds of games you love to win, but hate to watch…. Where there’s just a knot in your stomach the whole time.  I needed a few tall boys  after last years state game just to chill myself out.  I have to work this year, so I won’t get to go.  I’m sure my liver will be happier for it.

Beechwood controlled the entire game but Carroll County came out and had some success early. Beechwood scored first but then Carroll County scored on a 2 play drive with some great play calling on a truck play that got them down the field. Beechwood then scored the next 41 points to make it 48-7 and the clock began to run.  JV came in and gave up a touchdown and then scored 2 TD’s on runs by Cash Harney one of those was a 70 yard TD run.
The game was marred by an ugly scene in the 3rd quarter when 2 Carroll County lineman began to fight each other on the field. One players helmet came off and the other player was punching him in the face. It was an embarrassing moment and should never ever happen. The worst part was Beechwood’s coaches were out there before any Carroll County coach arrived to break it up. The officials looked like they didn’t know what to do it was chaotic.

Truly embarrassing for the players but even more for the coaches. That wasn’t a playful fight or a tussle. That was a freaking brawl. People around me were looking around saying is there coach going to stop this???  It went on for that long

Second point to that, where we’re the refs? Delay of game at minimum, expulsion for the players SHOULD have happen. A personal foul is a personal foul no matter which team your committing it against.  Luckily nobody was hurt.

    Halftime 48-0 Tigers.

I saw the post by the folks who thought the more teams in the playoffs the better, but after looking at this score, and I’m not trying to cherry pick this one, but after looking at this, could we AT LEAST maybe go to a 3 team from each district playoff and give the #1 seed a bye?  Is this fun?  Are the kids on Trimble CO’s team going to be super happy they made the playoffs?

  5. The 1988 Pikeville Panthers have entered the chat.

Dual speed demon running backs in Hackney and Dramus, and they ran a misdirection offense to boot.

If memory serves they had a huge d lineman and a linebacker who had a D1 scholarship.

Also if memory serves they were rated in the top 3 in the across all classes.

Those were men playing against boys.

Agree to disagree on that one. Scott was good but in my personal opinion he isn’t the best of all time. It’s  fun debating this though.

    True! (On the debate)

I guess it’s just pretty amazing to have so many people be in the discussion (and ALL legitimate contenders) for our made up award. 😃

I would ask the Guru to weigh in, but he may need to remain impartial on this site.

It would be a good topic for debate at the Saddle Club though.
