What school would want to take a chance on him now?
-
He’s leaving Hazard before he even got there? He wouldn’t be head coach at Fairview, to my knowledge that coach is not stepping down.
-
His uncle hired him before they ever hired a HC. My question is if everything was on the up and up why was McPeek not given the HC job 3 years ago?
The McPeeks always leave a mess where ever they go, not just Fairview ask anyone involved in football in NEKY during their time there. Fairview just got the worst of it before they left the area.

I don’t think the tomcats will have any problems winning this one. Greenup is struggling this year.
-
Only eight freshmen for the Rams this year. It's been a decade or more since they had a frosh class that small.
That is the class that parents held their kids back in middle school for sports. There were somewhere around 10 or 11 kids who play football held back. That is why you see 22 8th graders and only 8 freshmen. Half of the 8th grade team should be freshmen. Boyd Co done that also a few years ago for basketball. The parents all got together as a group and held their kids back (most were honor roll kids) to give them another year of development before entering high school.

Brecken Thomas-Eastern Kentucky University

Greenup is graduating a lot of football talent this year. Largest senior class in many years with at least 10 key starters. They’ll have a lot of work to do. Should have a fairly large freshmen class who has had a lot of success. I think Greenup will go through some growing pains this year but still see a winning season 6-4.

Greenup will have to learn to play team ball. They have been so used to getting the ball to Hughes for years that going back to team ball will be a challenge especially for the seniors. Should be an interesting year with a new coach and a new philosophy.
-
Congrats to GC middle on a hard fought win.
-
Thoughts, predictions. Should be an interesting game, a difficult game for both teams.
-
I think Greenup takes this one, but they can’t take a whole quarter to warm up like they did against Russell.
-
Is this an educated take based on what you've seen from Ashland? Because I'm of the mind that Johnson Central will be better than they were last year. Ashland could be too, but Aroq did a lot damage against JC last year, and he's moved on.
Ashland will be good there’s no doubt but their luck with beating JC has ran out I’m afraid. Ashland has some significant injuries this year in preseason and JC’s number 1 RB returns this year after taking last season off recovering from ACL tear. It’ll be a battle but I see JC coming out on top.

When that coach left, a lot of kids did not come back out.

Khsaa scoreboard will have rosters as long as each school has it updated at the time of the grid.

Greenup Co won day 2 of the Air Raid.

I expect they will have a good season. Impressive group of seniors this year to lead the team, a few who are college prospects. The D/O line will need some work to fill in the gaps left by last year’s group. LB group will be lead by 3 year starter Thomas who has an eye for the ball. Halstead, Kelly, and Thomas should have a great year on the offensive side of the ball. I think we’ll see some kids step up to the challenge this year as well. The boys have been working hard in the off season and are anxious to get started in a few days.

To even out the numbers on both sides.

If true, that would be a peculiar move on his part. He just came to Ironton from Wheelersburg a year ago. The Pirates return their all-state QB, so he'd have to sit a year.
He’d be smart to stay put at Ironton. Most likely starting QB there. You’re right, he would not start over their QB now.
-
The QB you speak of was a Ram in grade school and has wanted to come back since he left and each year it's been talked about that he was. To my knowledge he hasnt officially enrolled at Raceland yet. The lineman has and is fitting in well on our side of the pond. As for the QB, theres alot that goes into him transferring. He is a former Ram with a great set of parents trying to get him in the best situation possible. He himself is a great kid and I for one would love to see him back in RamLand.
He played for Raceland one year, two at the most. Sources tell me he’s decided to go to Wheelersburg.

Looks like Scott Grizzle has been offered the job, haven't heard whether he's accepted it yet.
Any word on the Ironton situation?
-
That is old news.
An offer will likely will be made today.
Are they going to announce it first or actually wait on the guy to accept it?
-
Completely agree, it will have to be a young coach with a backbone. I think the new AD can help a young coach navigate the waters with the baseball program. They don’t have as much power as in the past. Besides after this group graduates (from this past season) you don’t have a whole lot of baseball players who play basketball.
-
I heard yesterday the plan is to keep Vass and hire all new assistants. Pretty reliable source but we won’t know for sure until Ironton makes an announcement.
-
I hope they look for a young coach that wants to invest in the program and want to coach the whole team and not just one kid. It may take a couple of years but a lot talent coming up. But who knows what Greenup will do. Not a lot chatter amongst the old faithfuls.
Greenup County at Mason County Predictions/Updates

The win over Lawrence Co has boosted Greenup’s confidence. They seem to do well on the road and they are hungry for another shot at Mason Co. I would like to see this go Greenup’s way.
