  1. I'm thinking there is some confusion here between District and Conference.

I know of no restriction obligating all of your school's sports programs to accept a District fourth seed, BUT there is very much a requirement that if you withdrawal from NKAC competition in one sport it carries across the board for all of your sports.

You either compete in conference play in all sports or none at all.

But, the 37th District is seeded by prior agreement between the schools. (They file their plan with the state.) I don't think Calvary can now decide on their own to not play a 37th district school. That would mess up the seeding process. So they approached the others for a solution. A solution could not be worked out.

  2. I don't know if it's right to tell the bottom of the bench to hold up on scoring. Wouldn't it be better to mange the regular rotation players. Tell the girls that usually get an opportunity to score that for this game they need to hold up on scoring and for this game they are going to reward their teammates for being there for them. Cap the regular rotation at 30 and let the bottom of the bench have at it. What the heck start the bottom of the bench. Campbell's starters gained no benefit from this game.

  3. The conference as I understand it is for those schools that belong to the Northern Kentucky Athletic Conference (NKAC). NKAC is divided into 3 division based on school size. Schools may choose to participate in a higher division if they wish. During the season you play each of the schools in your division of the NKAC and the best record in division play is declared NKAC division champ. I suppose you could choose to not play a division opponent, but that would limit your ability to win the division. That may not matter to some schools. It's probably more important to the smaller schools. The divisions are as follows:

    Division 1

Boone, Campbell, Conner, Cooper, Cov Cath, Dixie, Notre Dame, Ryle, Scott, Simon Kenton

    Division 2

Beechwood, Bishop Brossart, Highlands, Holmes, Holy Cross, Newport, NCC, St. Henry

    Division 3

Bellevue, Calvary, Dayton, Heritage, Ludlow, Villa, Silver Grove

  4. NKY Bluegrass Results:

  5. I thought I would restart the preview and include the non-9th region NKY teams. I'm stealing Big Red's original info and hoping others can add to that analysis as well as cover some of the rest of the girls teams in NKY

Across the area there are several very strong and athletic goalies that will play at the next level - St. Henry, SK, Highlands, not sure if Dixie's goalie is back, one or two others.

Highlands has everyone back, a few D1 players in midfield and forward, should be fun to watch. I'm told a good Frosh group.

NDA graduated a large stud class, but still have a bunch of high level club players, should be really athletic in the midfield, one of the few teams that need to find a goalie. Also, supposed to have big frosh group.

SK, like NDA, has a bunch of solid club players and athletes, very athletic and good kid in the goal. They won't have another Abby Zoller, but my guess is one of the most athletic and balanced teams SK has had in a while.

St. Henry - won't have the depth of athletes, but have enough to be dangerous. If you like soccer worth going to check St. Henry play to see Riegler in the goal.

Dixie - Has a really talented group of incoming freshmen, but a few of them may play DA and not high school. I'm not sure what they return.

Boone - Have a couple of studs in the middle, but I'm not familiar with other players.

Ryle - Not sure if their basketball studs will play soccer again or not. Ryle typically looks like an athletic basketball team that plays soccer, struggle scoring, but are long, athletic, play hard, and give good teams fits.

NCC - Should have a solid SR class, Vogt is a dynamic player, another team that I believe returns a very good goalie.

I do not have commentary on Cooper, Conner, CC, Holy Cross, Beechwood, etc.

No predictions or rankings, will just say Girls high school soccer has been at a high level last few years and should continue.

Got anything to add to the above? What about Cooper, Conner, Campbell, Holy Cross, Beechwood, Scott, Brossart, Villa, Calvary, Pendleton, Walton, Grant, Gallatin, Ludlow, Dayton, Cov Lat, Bellevue, Newport? Anything of interest among those?

  6. I don't disagree that games get contracted out, but it is normally a two year contract. My point is that PC should never play Calvary. I don't think it does anything for either program. That's my opinion and may be wrong.

Why never Calvary? They won by 25. Other outcomes this season for PC:

    Bracken +43

    Nicholas +36

    Augusta +23

    St Pat +44

    Harrison +21

    Bourbon +32

    Mason +22

    Robertson +27

    Williamstown +49

    St Henry +32

But it's Calvary they should never play?
