Highlands defense is much improved from what I have seen this year, but I expected the offense to better. Maybe that will come later. I don't anything about LexCath except what I have read.
Highlands 30
LexCath 27
Highlands offense has struggled because they refuse the put the best player on the field. Huddy needs to be part of the offensive game plan. He doesnt need to be in all of the time, but he has to be a wrinkle in the playbook that D coaches have to prepare for. They NEVER practice with him on O, so I don’t look for this to change anytime soon. We heard all offseason about a couple of the best guys going both ways but up to this point, no one has done it. Maybe not in the cards, or maybe they just haven’t used it yet...

Another part of the story that has not been mentioned from the Ryle game is that the Ryle running back Kyle England had 148 yards on 14 carries before he went out with an injury in the 2nd quarter. Also, Catholic's running game is suspect at best. Should be an interesting game.
England had 27 yards against Highlands with about 15 of the them coming late in the 4th against Highlands reserves. He never could escape the birds Dline and LB group. Unless Lex Cath has the Scott County O-line, I don't expect them to be able to run with success against HHS.

How does the Lex Cath running game look this year?
-
42 to 14 LexCath.
Is Lex Cath is a good team? Will it be a “good” win if HHS gets a win?
-
Lexington Catholic was up 50-14 sometime in the 3rd quarter against Ryle before the subs came in.
Thanks for the clarification. This tells a different story.

Given the fact that Ryle put up 36 on Lex Cath, I’ll take Highlands by 14+. No way HHS D gives up more than 30 points and it doesn’t look like teams struggle to score on LC. Great special teams and creating turnovers have been in the Birds favor all year.
-
It was clear Ryle is struggling this year.
You predicted Cooper would beat Highlands. You predicted CC would beat Highlands. You predicted Highlands would beat Ryle by 7... Ugh, the Birds won all of those games by a total of 110-17. These teams averaged just over 5 points/game. All of these teams you thought were “good enough” to beat Highlands until after the game.

Any update on Schriver for CCH?
-
How healthy is Beechwood?
-
-
If they do, they should be ranked #1. Has a KY team ever defeated 2 Cincy GCL powers in the same year?
-
Western Michigan I believe.
Name? Number?
-
They have a tough game in 2 weeks.
Who is that?
-
Sorta was I was saying but Okay. They haven’t given a “Single” point this year!
Lol

Highlands JV has yet to give up a Touchdown this season. Ryle had it 1st & 4 from the 4 yard line and couldn’t get it in. I like what I’m seeing in Cake Town. Emphasis on Defense 1st.
Correction, they are yet to give up a point this season. Every game has been a shutout and I believe they’re approaching 140-0 combined scores...
-
The RB that was supposed to run all over Highlands. Until the backups came in I really think he had negative yards. Maybe a long of 3 yards but the majority were 0-1 or for a loss.
Looks like he had 27 yards. 15-20 came against the backups in the 4th. Nice job D!
-
Hergott 10/17 142 yards 2 tds.
The kid is a player and will be a stud as he matures.
-
How many yards did England have? I think he was negative yardage until he picked up a couple first downs against Highlands backups.
-
Who on oline will replace Jones?
-
Highlands beat Campbell 46-6 last night. Another talented group of young Birds coming through. 44 is a really talented kid. He Will see varsity time next year for sure.
-
Ryle has some burners that make make England look slow. Should be a great game.
Who are those guys? I’d be shocked if the list is very long. And I doubt any of them have his size/power with the ball.
-
LB Jackson Saladin. He plays outside LB and is really good at covering receivers. He did a lot of this against Lex Cath. He is also good on the edge. He'll take on the blocker and hold him in place then throw him aside to make a tackle on the RB or QB going around the end. He also is a good tackler. He is definitely among the top 3 LBs in NKY. He is also a stand-up kid.
The only thing I have against him is that he lived in a neighborhood that looked like he was in the Boone Co school district because he went to Middle School where 95% of the kids wind up at BCHS. Unfortunately for us, the way the school district line is drawn, he was one of the few that rightly goes to Ryle H.S. No matter, I am a big fan.
I’ll keep an eye out for him. #?

What offense does Ryle run, it’s not wing t is it? Ouch!
Birds D will be fine against Ryle. Not much of a threat outside of England getting loose. I think our LBs will keep him in check. Key will be getting our O rolling early.
-
Still waiting for Huddy to get some offensive snaps. That would be the biggest difference maker and so far he has 0 offensive snaps other than special teams. I just can’t figure it out.
Which 6A teams would you rank above Trinity?
in KY Football (High School)
