  1. Fredrick outplayed Kunkel big time in the last meeting. Not big on head to head since this is a 9th Region thingy, but the body of work certainly leans CJ, and CJ dominated Kunkel all summer, and in Vegas I am positive Belmont would offer CJ if hadn’t signed withca Big 10 team.

Two different player's with different styles of play. Two different coaches that expect different things out of each one of them. AK can do somethings better than CJ and CJ can do somethings better than AK. The big problem is that people only get a small sample size of games to make their judgement instead of getting to see each of them play in every game. Two great players with different expectations from them by their coaches.

  2. He played full strength against Highlands. He played bad and coach took him out. There is no way Frederick shouldn’t win! Best player against best competition, on the best team!

Wrong!!! Just shows you don't know what you are talking about. He broke his nose the weekend before they played Highlands on a Tuesday night. Because he is such a tough kid and competitor he tried to play with it. He had surgery after the Highlands game and the Boone and Cov. Cath. games were his first two games back wearing the protective mask and trying to get acclimated to it.

I could only imagine the soap opera that would be going on if this would have happened to CJ God forbid.

  3. The only thing that slowed Kunkel down a little was a broken nose and being hampered by having to wear a protective mask until he started getting used to it. Any player whether it be high school, college, or pro would be hampered by it also until they got acclimated to wearing one. By the way, Kunkel is playing at a high level himself. Believe he dropped 32 on Dixie tonight.

  4. Sorry the foul differential was 25 to 14 Boone lost two of their starters including Ethan Haynes so to say this game was equal is an underestimation

So tired of Boone fans always blaming the refs when they lose a game. Boone should have never lost to Ryle with or without Ethan Haynes. I'm sure Boone took them too litely and got beat. Accept it. Learn from it, and move on.

  5. It was hot in the gym last night, Sweat pouring from underneath Kunkels mask was crazy. Having the flu and playing in the hot gym was no bargain either for CJ. Whatever the basketball gods throw at you the game goes on. Adjust and do your best is all that can be asked. If there is a round three it will be a defensive battle for sure, no one is going to change at this point in time. Like it or not.

I would rather not feel good for a couple of days instead of having to wear a mask for 3-4 weeks. It's just a shame that he has to wear it, but as they say, crap happens. He will make the best of it and will hopefully have it off come districts.

  6. Cooper could have won this game by 30 plus if Sully wouldn't have pulled the starters to make his point. Chris McNeil was having a really nice game. Cooper was in a little funk last year when they came back from those tourney's and that is all it was tonight. Sometimes you have to let your starters play through it, but Sully felt it was in the best interest of the team to sit them. He knows his team the best and knows what is going to make them better in the long run.

  7. Led by Jaden Springer...consensus 5* and #7 player in the country for 2020.

Jaden Springer, Rocky River, Shooting Guard

I believe the Jags held him to 11 points. Maybe if Rocky River worked harder on their game instead of their smack talk and intimidation tactics that the Jags were not having any of it they could be a better team. I blame it on their head coach. Thank goodness that the Jags have a coach with integrity in Tim Sullivan that teaches his team to respect all opponents win or lose.

  8. I wonder what Skills Factory's take on the 7-41 discrepancy is. I don't know that I've seen such a large discrepancy.

It doesn't matter what there take is on it. Have you seen Skill Factory play? They are athletic but not disciplined at all defensively. They try to make up their defensive inefficiencies with athleticism and it doesn't work against a disciplined Cooper offense. And if you haven't heard yet, Cooper is a pretty good fundamentaly sound defensive team.
