  1. I heard something bad happened at Valley...not sure what. But something went down which caused the vacancy.

You are correct. I heard from a reliable source exactly what happened and could not believe my ears. If you look at the local news you will see vague stories about it I am sure.

  2. One must understand the lay of the land in Jefferson County to get why Manual has such great potential.

    1) Jeff. Co. is the most talent-rich area of the state.

    2) Only 4 JCPS schools have the opportunity to accept students from any part of the county and provide them bus transportation: Male, Manual, Butler, and Central. Of those, Male and Butler are "traditional" meaning they are supposed to only take kids who went to one of 3 "traditional" middle schools (though there are ways others can get accepted). The rest of us basically get the kids who live in our 'resides area.'

    3) Manual is ranked as one of the highest academic-achieving schools in Ky. because of the high caliber of their magnet programs. Add to that they've recently added a program ("High School University") that can accept kids not in their Math/Science/Technology, Visual Arts, Journalism, or Performing Arts magnets and it really opens the door to many of the best athletes in the county.

Kids graduating from there whether in a magnet or the "HSU" get a diploma from "Manual High School" -- one of the top schools in the state. Pretty nice thing to be able to tell a parent who wants the best for their kid. Has helped them pull some of the better kids recently that you might usually see go to a private school (pretty good pitch: come to maybe the best academic HS in the state and save $10K a year).

Another plus to a lot of coaches is that your Principal would be a former head football coach (Jerry Mayes).

Have you thought about throwing your hat into the ring? ;)

  3. LEX, disagree it was the reason for this outcome. It was Centrals ability to shut down Boyles run game, making their offense try to be 1 dimentional, But the biggest thing is Centrals ability to run on Boyle. This allowed Central to be very balanced on offense. IMO

Outside of a few big plays I don't think we ran the ball well at all against them. I actually think their running game was way more effective against us.

  4. 4 of the interceptions came really late when Boyle started passing the ball much more due to running out of time. It felt like they were in quicksand, the more they struggled and reached out the deeper they sunk in. Boyle is a great team. I enjoyed watching them and talking to several of their fans. Class acts, the whole lot of them. Hope to see you guys next year!

  5. Originally Wednesday's forecast called for Thunderstorms. Not sure what happened there. Central's field will still be awful. I believe Central does not have a practice field, so the game field is used everyday (someone correct me if I am wrong). Having watched the Western Hills game from last week, there isn't much, if any grass between the hashes.

Centrals practice field is attached to the school. Other than games there is no activity on the stadium field all year. Field should be in pretty decent shape (dry). If you think its rough trying to play football on it try coaching soccer on it. Gonna be there Friday Rebel?

  6. No insult was intended and my apologies if I offended. I was under the impression that Central, after the lawsuit about the quotas, was predominantly neighborhood kids. That said I was attempting to defend your program, if I misspoke then I do ask your forgiveness.

I understand. No worries and no apology needed.

  7. Here is a rundown of our stadium. Overall is a great stadium/atmosphere. Great concessions on both the visitor side and under the home side stands. The past several weeks we have been frying really good fish on the visitor side. The field is in decent enough condition. If you venture to the home side concession area you will see our wall of fame featuring plaques with bio's of notable former students and athletes. As for parking there is small lot on the south side of the stadium. You then have several blocks of street parking, as well as smaller pay lots across the street that are usually open. I personally have never felt unsafe outside the stadium or in the general area. I have also never witnessed or even heard of any incidents happening at or outside our stadium during a game or any other time for the matter. We are a good group of knowledgeable fans that want to have a good time and watch some great football. I hope to meet some fellow forum posters there and watch a hard fought game. We welcome you Boyle and good luck!

  8. Bunch of inner-city kids and families, not all of them even have cars. Travelling outside of Louisville can be a huge challenge for them.

I wont jump to conclusions by what I think you meant by this so I offer this retort. Central is a magnet school. We draw kids from all areas of Louisville. We do have a lot of kids from the inner city but MANY are spread out across the city. We may not always travel well so I guess its a good thing the games aren't won in the stands.

  9. Waggener's speed is by far Boyle's biggest concern. I agree with your original statement that Waggener is a faster team than Lex Cath.

    #9 Very, very, very fast-excellent player-D1 offers

    #1, #5, #21: great speed and skill

If I am not mistaken 3 of those players were used both ways against us.

  10. I was at the Central vs Waggener game mid season. Waggener has some SERIOUS speed. They gave us all we could handle till the 2nd half when we opened it up with a pick 6 and some other big defensive plays. I really hope to see Boyle at Central next weekend but would not be shocked at all if its Waggener we are hosting. Overlook them at your own peril.
