  1. None of that is relevant to my comment... Just stated a few CovCath supporters need to win with a little more class... Glad the trophy is in NKY

I couldn't agree more. I was taught the only thing worse than a sore loser is a sore winner. I'm glad the boys that won the game on the field have enough class to win and still show good sportsmanship. Be happy you won, why pull a comment out from the past. Again Comgradulatioms Cov Cath.

  2. Yes!!!! very exciting to see them live up to their expectations for the first time ever in CCH history! in all of NKY history at that! Being an all boys private school I can't believe this is the first state title win. However like I said way to represent NKY!!!! comgradulatioms!!!! nothing but positivity in that but I know you would look for something negative of course.

If you want to read negativity into facts that is completely up to you, really nothing backhanded meant but also no retraction being made.

I'm very happy for the boys on the team.

  3. I take your first quoted sentence above as a negative comment at CCH.

I take your second quoted sentence above as making an excuss before you are even accussed, which is the definition of being guilty.

If it was not meant to be negative, a hit on cch, please explain what you mean by your first quoted sentence above.

Actually my first post was " Congrats CCH!!! way to represent NKY!!! ".... But then someone couldn't take that positive encouragement without trying to be smart and turn it into something negative.

  4. Stepover, I'm wondering if you finally got an answer to the question (see below) you asked about 3 weeks ago before regionals started? Calling out a team sometimes helps provide extra motivation so thanks for that. I'd say it's been asked and answered wouldn't you?

"The big question in my head is will Cov Cath choke again?"

  5. Using this logic I guess you could say Scott proved they are on the same level as Cov Cath this year having tied beat Highlands 1-0 and then CCH beating highlands 1-0 and then going into PKs? My only problem with your statement is that I disagree with you saying CCH was better than Scott last year. Scott beat Trinity last year in the elite 8. Scott was not the better team. They found away to win, but they were not the better team. The assumption that CCH 2015 is better than the 2014 Scott team is wrong too. Atleast when you compare the offensive side. No team will compare to the combination of Morgan, Treadway and Schnieder. CCH had 36 goals against Fern Creek and only scored 5? Treadway, Morgan and Schnieder would have put more of those in.

***36 shots not goals. Hard to type on this tiny screen.

  6. 2014 CCH was better than 2014 Scott.......proved it on the field.

  7. I assumed soccer was like basketball in that the time colleges see players is when they are playing club ball. No?

if you're lucky, you may catch a local D1 coach at a high school game maybe once a year. Unless that coach is extremely interested in a player and they had already contacted eachother. Club is where the top players are recruited by colleges, where they're playing the top competition. Most college coaches could care less about anything being related to high school soccer. Some are even against it, due to chances of injury against first year players.

  8. as for Morgan, if sources are correct he plans to sign Febuary 3rd.

Jonathan Huerta - Oldham County is committed to Eastern Illinois University.

Jonathan Laise - Kentuxky Country Day is committed to Coastal Carolina University.

From what I have heard is that Ricky Clemente from Dunbar has plans to play at Evansville University but hasn't made a commitment yet.

This makes no sense to me, explain how you completely take the most important part of the season, the post season out of the equation when considering who the best players awards should go to. ASnow (if he hadn't already) locked up the OPOY the year Vs St Henry last night during the Regional game, but this game had no baring in the voting, crazy.

    Another example;

Last year S Rowland from S Oldham did not win the Miss KY award, complete farce. She dominated post season, almost single handily winning the State Semi final and finals. She had the lone goal in the semi final and all 4 goals in the finals. Yet she got zero credit for these performances in the Miss KY voting, what a joke.

Just an example to give my reasoning for why this wouldn't be fair to all players is as mentioned, Wends season was cut short. Another example would be Morgan. The goal keeper for Scott recieved a red card directly before the first game of post season, and I think because of that, Morgan's and the rest of the Eagles season was cut short.

This isn't me saying I totally disagree or agree with your statement.

If this vote would take into account all of the games including post season then I would need to ask how anyone could not have voted for Treadway last season. He IMO is one of the top 3 best forwards to come out of NKY. He carried his team all the way to the state finals last season, scoring a hat trick against Trinity to put them in the final 4, then scoring the lone goal in the final 4 game. Who won OPOY last year? Chris O brien, great player, really helped his team have a good year, but if post season was into account, he couldn't compete because his team wasn't at the level as some of the other teams.

  10. CCH is a good balanced team, but is there no respect for HC? I do not believe HC will win this, however they are better than what everyone on here believes.

I couldn't agree more. I think Holy Cross will lack any sort of attack, but defensively I think they could keep it closer than what is being predicted. I would think somewhere around 3/4-0 but I do not see a 10-0 score here. Maybe I will be proven wrong but I think it will be closer than what is being expected.

  11. Tonight at CC @ 7:30. Could this be an early end to Scotts season with their goalie standing on the sidelines? Scott won this game early in the season 2-1 but if I remember correctly Morgan had 3-5 break aways that he couldn't convert on. If Hegerty and Morgan play good, I say Scott in a close one, but wouldn't be betting on this one.

  12. I also feel that Morgan is very dangerous with the ball, once he faces the goal, the defense is usually at a disadvantage. I believe that you could make a very similar statement about any of the other boys that continue to be mentioned as the top few offensive players.

I can't go along with saying he is by far the most dangerous, I have not seen anything that truly separates him from the others, I do not see stats that support this claim either. With the schedule that Scott has played, and using him as their lone striker, I would expect to see him put up numbers in the neighborhood of what Wend has posted for Conner.

I think another stat that does not help this claim is that 14 of his 24 goals, and half his assists, were tallied in 4 matches against teams that were not ranked in the top 100, I also think these teams had a negative scaled rating. With an aggregate score of 21-2 in these matches, it also appears that they were pretty one-sided contests.

I know this is old news but just want to throw this out there. When you look at stats, Morgan had 4 goals against Calvary. This game was 0-0 at half time and Morgan came out and scored 4 in the second half to give his team the win. These obviously weren't easy goals to score for him. I don't think it's fair to say this was weak competition for a weak Scott team. Morgan had to work for those goals.

  13. I first would like to say that I know nothing about soccer and will not pretend to know anything. My son plays football so I usually just read the football posts. That said, my son wanted to go to this game so I drove him and a few others and I decided to stay and watch instead of driving back and forth. I peeked over here in the soccer forum since I figured there would be some talk of what happened at this game. Having read a few of the posts I couldn't help but sign on and weigh in. First post ever so please go easy.

The first half of this game was actually very exciting. I was amazed at how quickly the boys on both teams could move the ball and a few had some amazing foot skills. There was really not a whole lot to talk about, no scoring, no ugliness, just a good fast paced game.

Then the second half started and suddenly things were very different. I noticed right away that the bench of Montgomery County were saying things to the Scott goalie (Scott goalie was now at the other end of the field right in front of their bench). Then there was a rough play or 2 between the goalie and a Montgomery County player but honestly they both had a shot at the ball and both went after it. For whatever reason the referee gave the Scott goalie a yellow on one of those plays(which my son later told me was a caution). Not sure what the goalie did to get a yellow card but who am I to say. I could now hear the coaches from Montgomery County jawing at the Scott goalie. It really surprised me that a Coach would jaw at a kid but I thought, oh well, maybe this is how soccer is played. The Scott goalie even seemed to ask the referee on several occasions about the comments being said to him and the referee did nothing. This surprised me too since I could hear the Montgomery County coach from the bleachers. Not sure what he was saying but there was no doubt who he was yelling at. As the game went on the opposing coach never let up as he continued barking and yelling at the Scott goalie. I've just never seen a coach jaw with a player.......in any high school sport. Seems odd and wrong to me. So then the referee pulls out a red card and throws the Scott goalie out of the game. At the time I had no clue why the referee would do that but my son later told me that the Scott goalie must have done or said something to get a 2nd yellow which means an ejection. I'm guessing he said something since I didn't actually see him do anything wrong.

My apologies for the long winded post but it just seems to me that everyone is really coming down hard on a kid that seemed to be provoked by adults. I do think the goalie's reaction was rather animated but who is really accountable here?? if the goalie did something to earn an ejection then fine.......I don't see a problem with that. But where is the accountability for the adult coaches who seem to be provoking it. And what about the referee who seemed to ignore what appeared to be repeated requests from the Scott goalie to stop the nonsense on the opposing sideline? Is this normal in soccer? I think I honestly find more fault in the opposing coaches for their actions and the referee for his inaction. If you push anyone far enough....sooner or later you will get a response. Unfortunately for the young man playing goalie his response eliminated him from the game. That said.....none of it seemed right. Especially from the adults coaching and officiating the game.

    Just one non-soccer fan's opinion.

I was at the game and if I was to summarize what happened it would go something like this... I do know the Scott goalie was taunted by the entire bench who felt the need to stand up off the to the end of the field. There were probably 2 coaches along the group of players as well. The goalie and a few field players mentioned this to the ref but nothing was done. They antagonized the goalie the entire game. I think his reaction was just built up frustration over time and while I agree it was completely inappropriate, he was egged on the entire game up until this point and I think the ref should have handled the situation differently before it got to this point.
