  1. Brennan Canada is the newest member of the GRC basketball program. (Canada previously played for Montgomery County) This is a huge pickup for GRC.

No one can say that they are surprised by the addition of players to this program. This will be a common occurrence in future for this program just check the track record of this type of thing for this staff

in this day and time it all about the quick fix or stock piling, forget about building a program from the bottom up.

Enjoy the future 10th region fans

  2. In reading the excerpt from The Cats Pause 12th region preview you would think they need to close down shop for the season.

As a parent it ticks me off that it makes it sound like "the brothers" left because Wright left, nothing could be further from the truth, they were gone regardless.

Our kids had a great June and basketball is going forward with players like Cromer, Cundiff, Gover, Dykes, Stevens, Matt Jones and company in spite of the coach and players who are gone.

  3. Been looking to see if any of our 16th region kids are being looked at and don't see any.

I've been looking at the season stats on all the players mentioned and one thing I noticed about Broughton is that he only made 16 (3s) all year. How can some of the schools mentioned be considering a 6' 4" perimeter if he doesn't shoot the three. I'm not being critical because I've not seen him play but just a question

  4. Please bring back the sat championship!!

Looking at the last 15 championship Saturdays for the boys "sweet 16" prior to moving the championship game to Sunday.

The bottom bracket team who played the 2nd semi final game won 8 championship game and the team who won the early game won 7.

Was there ever a championship game won by a team of lesser talent who got to play the first semi final and they won the championship because they were fresher than their opponent who had to play the second semi final?

I don't think so, the 2 games being too much on Saturday is way overblown!

  5. It's pure political and if a coach isn't liked he nor his player with get POY or COY award. Many Coaches will plot together if they feel a coach is running up the score, or getting a lot of transfers.

Coaches plotting with each other against other coaches and players, are you kidding...Is there some politics-yes...but I don't believe for one minute there's some covert plotting of votes.

Subjective voting is what it is and there is always going to be a well deserving player or coach not receive this award in some region.

I think the KABC by and large does a pretty good job of trying to honor the players and coaches of our Commonwealth

  6. Weird that I heard that yesterday at work. I have some good friends from there and they said it was between 3 people.

Some guy from Bath Co, Stacy Reed or Jeff Shepherds wife, and Bernadette Locke Maddux.

If your information is legit, then the "some guy from Bath County" as you referred to him would have to be Troy Lee Thomas and if that's the case then South Laurel would be crazy not to hire him. Good X and O guy and no one is going to outwork him when it comes to putting in time with his players

  7. I'm just genuinely interested to see who gets it considering the circumstances. I'm also interested to see if the next 4 seasons are as successful as the last 4 seasons.

Bath will not find a Coach to take the job that is more dedicated to his trade than Troy Lee Thomas

  8. I also will not talk bad about any player, and I truly hope that all who were selected play well. However, I do not agree with the coach of an all star team representing the state of Kentucky having the right to take care of his own to the exclusion of others who, at least on the surface, appear more deserving of a spot on the roster. It would be one thing is there were tryouts and perhaps the less-heralded player showed in the tryout that he was deserving of a roster spot. Of course, that did not happen. I haven't seen all the players at issue, but some pretty good players were left off the team.

I think it's unfair to look at one player(player A) who made the team and just because he's not a marquee name to most people we say how did that young man beat out (player B) who everyone knows. With that being said in this case I saw the Tyler boy play several times throughout the seaon and he doesnt have to take a backseat to any of the players who made the team and I saw several of those players play multiple times as well.

Is there any chance the young man turned down the opportunity to play?

  9. Lack of scoring is for the most part a product of poor officiating the other part is the volume of poor perimeter shooters.

When a good legal solid screen and a hard sharp cut are blown up by a big and strong forearm chucking the offense off their cut and no call is continually not made then that's a problem with officiating.Sadly the game has become one of brute strength over the utilization of fundamental skills

Shooting is work and becoming a really good shooter is even more work. Alot of kids want to play the game but not work on their game.

I also think that besides dropping the shot clock to 30 seconds they should consider dropping the 10 second backcourt violation basck to 8 seconds like the NBA
