  1. I would say by numbers yes, North Carolina has more football teams and quality players then Kentucky. Now, with that being said, Highlands, St.X, Male and Trinity have been Nationally ranked forever. Either one of those teams can beat North Carolina's 4 best teams. Problem for KY schools is North Carolina has probably more then 4 teams that have been Nationally ranked in Top 25 the past 20 years.

No they cant beat North Carolinas 4 best teams not even close, My team was Shelby they are 2a have a lot of titles top 50 in the nation in all time wins, and could beat any 5a or smaller Kentucky team. The only team that would beat them is trinity, but it would be a close game. North Carolina even has a better college basketball team to.

  2. Glascow lost their star player for sure, other than that I'm not quite sure about anything else. You can't always be sure about comparing scores of last year because of so many factors like graduating players, etc. But I do see your points. The loss to GC was definitely considered an upset, and a blowout upset at that.

Sometimes comparing scores is a bad way to do it, but not really nothing else to use especially since I aint got a clue what these teams lost, and returned.

  3. Campbellsville has a senior class of 16+/-, which is large for a Class A school. In years past their main weakness was lack of field experience, but now that is no longer the case. The junior and senior classes are very well prepared to take the field. Here's their schedule:

    @ Glascow

    Vs. Washington

    @ Taylor

    Vs. Green

    Vs. Larue

    @ Danville

    Vs. Bethlehem

    @ Fort Knox

    @ Caverna

    Vs. Kentucky Country Day

Glascow and Danville are probably their most toughest opponents on the schedule, but has an even chance to win them. Going undefeated in district play is what they are certainly looking forward to, and after the new district realignment, I believe the best scenario for them is playing vs. Russellville for a regional championship at their place. This team is going to be scary good. The line is probably their kryptonite, but with Kendon Young along with MANY more athletic and tough support players, this team will shock a bunch of people. Be on the lookout for Campbellsville in Bowling Green.

    Thoughts??

Don't know much about most of the teams they play, but a quick look at maxpreps, I saw they got beat by 2 of those opponents last year. They were Danville, and green co. Id be curious to what those 2 return since both beat Campbellsville by about 40.

  4. In other posts you claim to know nothing about KY HS football yet you have made claims that, as wrong as they are, could only be made by someone very familiar with KY state football.

We know you, we've seen your type before. I'm looking forward to the amusement factor.

Not hard to research teams from past years with sites like this, maxpreps, and others to see schedules, and results. I cant agree that 3 east was strong up until last year. Breathitt, and bourbon were just not as strong as claimed period.

  5. Many of y'all completely discount just how talented Bourbon Co has been over the past few years when referrig to a "cake walk" on the east side of the state. I'll readily admit that besides Belfry...3A East wasn't on par with their west counterparts in 2014. However...Bourbon Co...was definitely the third best team in 2012 and IMO, the 2nd best team in 2013.

3A has historically went back and forth regarding a balance of power so to speak between East and West. I do think Boyle and Lex Cath bring excellent brands of football which should drive 3A football to new heights.

You are a nut. It doesn't take someone with 20/20 to see that the east side of 3a has been weak for years. Only takes about 5 minutes of research to see that that side of the bracket has been garbage. Truth be told 3a as a whole has been garbage in Kentucky, but guess im used to north Carolina football. The 1a champ in NC would whip the Kentucky 3a champ by 30 most years. I could take a girls basketball team, put them in pads, and they would beat belfry.

  6. Caldwell Co 3A

    Mayfield 2A

Both just moved up 1 class

Mf has won 4 state titles in the last 5 years and Caldwell has 1 runner up 2 years ago Mayfield was ranked #1 last year wire to wire and Caldwell was ranked at #1 or close to #1 most of the season.

Both are likely to be ranked though I am not sure where CC will fall. MF will be top 5 and could be as high as 1 or 2. MF returns a ton at skill positions and on defense but lost most of its line. If they can develop a line they will be one of the top teams again this year. CC lost their Mr everything QB who won Mr. KY football last year but return some of their other top players.

Overall, CC has won 2 state titles, MF 12

MF is 5th nationally in all time wins

Both communities are big time football communities. On a Friday night it is the thing to do for many and a great tailgate atmosphere at Mayfield. You will not go wrong with either.

5th in all time wins is awesome, and especially 12 titles

  7. A brief comparison for MF and Caldwell Co

    14 - M 40 - 12

    13 - C 48 - 41

    12 - M 48 - 7

    11 - M 62 - 14

    10 - M 49 - 0

    09 - C 14 - 10

    08 - C 35 - 7

    07 - M 25 - 6

    06 - M 35 - 7

Prior to this the teams did not play for a number of years

If I were you Andy, I would load up Barn and Gomer and go watch Caldwell given that it is 20 minutes closer but with the loss of their MR KY football QB to graduation this year I suspect they will have some growing pains this coming season. If you truly want to see what has arguably been the best team in the vicinity the last several years it is Mayfield in KY but Henry Co, TN is about as close and they are I think a class 6A in TN and have been just about unbeatable lately winning several big class state titles lately

I prefer small school ball, so Mayfield sounds alittle better as long as its within an hour of confederate id be willing to make the drive. Lyon county unfortunately doesn't play football. Looks to me like I have talked to some Caldwell county homers. Looks to me like Mayfield usually crushes them, and when Caldwell wins its a dogfight. What classes are these 2 so I don't have to look them up again. Id rather drive 20 minutes extra for good ball. Do either team go deep in the playoffs much, I want to still be watching football in late November. I do think I seen Mayfield had won a couple recent titles. I like a school with tradition like the 1 I used to watch back home.

  8. I can tell you really don't anything about Kentucky High school football.

Back to North Carolina for you.

    Or you're just a stirrer

My knowledge is very limited of Kentucky high school football, just learning who is strong. If I wanted to stir id say something like north Carolina high school football is way better than it is in Kentucky, which wouldn't be a lie.

  9. No, I'm talking about saying that Caldwell County is better than Mayfield.

The first I talked to in this area told me Mayfield hands down, but I had about 3 or 4 since say Caldwell, when I asked 1 of them he said Mayfield used to dominate us years ago now we have made a habit out of whipping them like hot apple butter." He said Mayfield is on the downslide, and Caldwell is the best around now. What classes are these 2, and who would you say is better. I just figured about 4 telling me Caldwell, and 1 saying Mayfield id go with what the 4 said.

  10. Can't go wrong w/ Mayfield or Murray.

Yeah I've heard of them the locals I've talked to say they are both pretty good, and that the Paducah Tilghman or something like that is good, but the few I've talked to in these parts say Caldwell county is the best small school, followed by Mayfield.

  11. Might not be the best comparison, but still same principle that more numbers means more talent, but I agree the difference in the same class is neglidgable, and besides you have to play in the class you are in no excuses. I lived in north Carolina, but now im in Kentucky, can anyone help me out to pick a good place to watch high school ball at. I prefer small town atmosphere a to aaa don't know who to watch that is good. In the area of lake barkley.

  12. What does the # of kids on a roster have to do with the talent of the top 30 kids on the team who will see the field? De Sales and Mayfield will both be very good in that sweet spot.

Cause the top 30 out of 90 should be better than the top 30 out of 50. If you do an all star team texas versus Kentucky high school kids who wins. My guess is the team with the most to pick from even though both teams has 11 on the field and only 20-30 see the field. I bet the toughest man in Louisville is tougher than the toughest man in a town with a population 0f 200.

  13. We'll dress anywhere from 85-95 players this year.

I figured Mayfield, and desales to be a preseason tossup for no. 1. I figured desales should get the nod since they are the defending champ in this particular class. Now that I see the numbers id be embarrassed if I was a desales fan, and didn't win the title with those numbers. It really shouldn't be close, but for some reason I think Mayfield will give them a descent game if they happen to both make it that far.

  14. Did some research for some poster. Hope no one is offended with it and hope many can give some good feedback.

    1 Mayfield

    2 Desales

    3 New Cath

    4 CAL

    5 Murray

    6 Bardstown

    7 Shelby Valley

    8 Owensboro Cath

    9 Prestonsburg

    10 Somerset

Several teams could crack it later on.

Glasgow,Leslie County, Danville and Walton Verona.

Pretty good top 10, but I'd have DeSales at no. 1
