This is what I came across:

All Thursday Night Football games are streaming on Prime Video. Local stations for the two teams that are playing on Thursday Night Football in a given week are also going to have the game (check local listings).

So I assume if the Bengals are playing the Steelers (eg.), it will be an AFC game and  broadcast on your local CBS affiliate that regularly telecasts games. Not sure if it will be a CBS crew or just a simulcast of the Prime coverage?

Pretty sure NBC is doing all of the production for Amazon.

I would say his Umass teams, Memphis teams, and his 2011, and 2014 teams beating teams that were suppose to be better than them.

I think he was a way better coach back in the UMass days.  His Memphis teams had a bunch of talent and he still had more NBA players on his teams in 11 and 14 than most of his opponents, even the ones that were ranked ahead of them.  He "Loves BEING the Coach" but I don't think he "Loves TO Coach".

  3. Honest question here:  Why don't they make it hard for receivers to get off the line anymore?  You never see a DB trying to make contact with the receiver at the line.  Everyone in the country knew that the ball was going to Hill and Kelce on that last drive in regulation but they did't even try to make it hard for them to get downfield.  Especially when you have all those guys playing cover 3 or 4 deep.

Wasn't relevant to my point of him ripping the organization, like many players before him have also.  Are there any other organizations out there that get ripped by former players as much as the Bengals do?

The Texans are running a close second at this point!

Down 1 and then down 2 with under a minute left and we see 3 shots from deep to end the game. Get the ball in the lane. Nothing wrong with trying to get to the free throw line and play for overtime. I just don’t get it...

That drives me nuts.  See it all the time now in basketball.  Often times they are contested while guys are standing wide open in the lane in a 1 point ballgame!

Are UC fans happy for Mick? Or bitter given the current turmoil in Clifton?

As the song says:  "Don't know what you got 'til it's gone"

They ran off the best 2 coaches they've had in recent history.  Yeah, Cronin didn't get to any Final Fours but he's a heck of a coach.  Tough to get kids to buy into his system but he knows what he's doing.  Hopefully he does well at UCLA.  Good guy and puts everything into his job.  Tells it like it is.  Not many coaches doing that now.

Great QB, motivated coach, only a few players away, capable of beating anyone on a given Sunday, biased fanboy.

I'll give you the potentially "Great QB."  However that is totally reliant on him getting back to 100% and getting a line to protect him.  Past that, you are reaching:

"Motivated Coach" just means the he hasn't done enough to have a secure job.

"A few players away" is correct if by "a few" you mean about 15 that are substantially better than the current players at that position.

"Capable of beating anyone..."   Any team in the NFL is capable of beating anyone on a given Sunday.  Good teams get that done, the Bengals do not.  "Coming Close" to winning a game, isn't winning a game.  On the PGA Tour, if you come close, you still win a bunch of money.  In the NFL if you come close, you are just a Looser.

  8. In addition to the revenue sharing and salary cap mentioned above:

    -7 inning games

    -Pitch Clock

-Extra innings start with runner on second

-If they can't get a salary cap with the union, then make the Luxury tax 31times whatever you spend over the threshold.  In other words, for every dollar you spend over the limit, you give that same amount to every other team.  Works the same as a salary cap in the end without "capping" a players ability to earn.  The current luxury tax means nothing to the big market teams.

  9. It's not that surprising that Shepard would say that.  He grew up in Georgia.  I'm sure he doesn't have the same affinity for UK that folks born and raised here have.  Like many former players, they would do anything for their coach and that's where their loyalty lies.  Based on the way that some of the top kids in KY have been treated (or looked over) by Cal , it's not surprising at all that he doesn't want his kid to play for him.  Tom Izzo, Jay Wright, Bill Self just to name a few are all coaches I would rather see coach my son than Cal.

  10. Belichik isn't exactly Mr. Nice Guy and he's done fine in the NFL.  The good thing about this situation for Meyer is he doesn't have to call plays.  He can manage the coaches and I think the players will respect him.  Most of the guys in the league were playing in college while Urban was coaching and winning at the highest level.

I might argue that Urban has adapted as well as Saban.  He changed his offense quickly when JT Barrett went down and Jones replaced him.  Went back to more RPO with Barrett the next season and then changed his offense again when Barrett graduated and Haskins replaced him.

I think he will adapt just fine.  He is 100% all in on everything he does.   That would be the only thing I see stopping him from being successful.  His intensity takes a big toll on his health.

I don't think it is all about money. The penny pincher take is old and tired. He pays his players. He is paying AJ Green $18 million this year. He just paid Joe Mixon. He paid Gino and Dunlap. He has given many big contracts to the players he has drafted. I think Mike is a loyal person and patient to a fault. He wants the people he hires to work it out and find success. That is more the issue with letting the head coach go than the money. That and poor judgment. Poor judgment on talent may be the biggest problem.

Brown only pays his players because he is required to spend 89% of the cap this year.  The best financial thing that ever happened to the Bengals was Carson Palmer's holdout/trade demand.  He didn't have to pay Palmer but that still counted towards his cap requirement.  He cuts corners everywhere else.  Coaching staff, scouts, facilities etc...  It is laughable that several Ohio high schools have indoor practice facilities and the Bengals don't.  He's playing in a Major League with Minor League infrastructure.

He gets his 1/32 cut of the shared revenue so why spend more?  Sellout crowds could make some more $$ but in the big scheme of things, it doesn't make much difference.  Last year was the lowest season attendance since 1993 but they still had $49 million in gate receipts.  That's only $6 million less than their best year.  The difference between Zac Taylor's salary and the average NFL Coach's salary makes up that loss in gate receipts.  Last year the Bengals received $296 million in revenue share.  Salary cap was $188 million.  2019 operating expense was 60 million.  Thats about $50 million in profit in one of the worst years the Bengals have ever had.

  12. One that could go either way for me are the Buckeyes.  I like them with tons of chocolate and only a little peanut butter showing (just like a real buckeye would look).  Can't stand them if they are mostly peanut butter with the chocolate only covering half the peanut butter ball.

It could just be me, but I think it's been a very quiet six championships. He's building his own legend while following a Mount Rushmore caliber coach at Beechwood, plus several other guys around him on the list of titles won are contemporaries that are either still coaching or recently retired. On top of that, he seems like a humble, unassuming man.

I couldn't agree more with this.  Class guy that probably doesn't get the credit he deserves.  They have talent but he works with what he has every year and each team looks a little different.  Don't know that I could even put a finger on their "system".  He adapts to what he has and makes it work.  Congrats o Beechwood!

The Bengals first round picks have all been injured or missed a significant amount of games for 6 consecutive years I believe. While the Bengals don’t always do things that help themselves out, they are also extremely unlucky at times too.

Ced O. (Injured when they drafted him wasn’t cleared until halfway through.)

William Jackson (Tore something in training camp, missed whole rookie season.)

John Ross (Injury when drafted and then just kept getting hurt)

Billy Price (Drafted when injured, then hurt his ankle during the season missing games)

Jonah Williams (Injury in camp led to missing his whole rookie year)

Joe Burrow ( Tore his Knee up halfway through the year.

Drafting injured players in 3 of their last 6 first round picks is all you need to know about the Bengals.

Tie game. LSU ball 3rd and 10. LSU completes a pass short of the first down and the receivers shoe fell off. Florida player picks up the shoe and chucks it 20 yards downfield in celebration. 15 yard penalty that sets up the eventual game winning 57 yard field by LSU. The best part was his own teammate slapping him upside the head for being such an idiot.

I also liked the Refs explanation of the penalty when he said the Florida player threw the shoe "20 yards downfield!"
