  1. No the 38th is a seeded district. As far as I can tell there are only 4 that are draw Districts.

    39th Bracken (12-18), Mason(15-10), Augusta(1-12), & St. Pat (2-11)

    44th Berea (1-17), Model (13-22), Madison Southern (17-16), Madison Central (29-7)

    54th Buckhorn (12-17), Perry County Central (29-11), Leslie (12-15), Hazard (29-11)

    64th Ashland Blazer (19-15), Fairview (6-24), Boyd (19-18),

    Ok

I did a quick google search & saw an article from January, 2015 that had 9 or 10 districts listed that seeded. The 38th & 39th being 2 on the list.

Is seeding/draw per sport or across the board? As the article could have been referring to basketball based on date of article.

  2. Fact is that the smaller schools will always be taking there beatings. Occasionally they may win or even keep it close but very rarely. Unless all sports go to the class system that is the way it is. So by having the Districts be a draw smaller schools can limit the number of beatings they take. They can play other small schools all year long instead of being forced to play larger schools twice in the regular season and once more in the District. Class system takes care of this. Also what would take care of this is realignment. Using the 37th (Harrison, NIcholas, Pendleton & Robertson) as an example. Harrison has probably won the last 20 Districts championships in a row. How much more fair would it be to have 4 small schools in a district and give them a chance at winning the District and going to the Region instead of always being someones stepping stool for another title. All sports need to be realigned by classes. Smaller schools might have to travel farther but I would be willing to bet they already are to play someone of comparible talent.

Doesn't the 38th draw for districts as well?

  3. I don't think you can hire someone from the previous staff. It seems as though Carr is gone for things that some might feel should have been brought to administrator's attention earlier. Not my opinion but some might feel this way. I would go outside the current staff to completely wipe myself of the situation.

If this were the case, wouldn't the powers that be have made it known to those who were on staff? Therefore, they wouldn't have applied or be interviewed.

  4. You think you at some important figure up at Scott HS, guess what, you aren't... You have zero insight on who applied or what is even going on... I've seen the list of who applied, who was in consideration, and the select few applicants who the comitee chose to interview...

Not at all. Looks like you're the important figure.

  5. First three members appear logical, knowledgeable and appropriate. The last two are current player parents. They might be outstanding people; however participation on this committee would be 100% inappropriate, conflicted with bias, and a terrible message to send to all the stakeholders.

    100% agree.

I know there are several alumi (former players) who would have been on the committee, As they would have the long-term interest of the program in mind. Not just the next few years.

  6. Is this speculation? Or, the actual committee? Could not imagine what a wrong message a committee of this make-up would be sending to all stakeholders (applicants, players, other parents, etc). Any applicant that would consider this job with that interview committee would be walking into an absolute swamp filled with snakes and alligators. To give players' parents this type of power and influence is a mistake that no competent school leadership would or should ever let happen. "The inmates would be running the asylum!"

I've heard same names from several different people.

  7. Your assumption maybe wrong. Heard some complaints came from starters parents whose kids got sacked at the BOK when Carr was not happy with their effort?

Based post #249 1 parent complained numerous times that a player wasn't getting enough/any minutes on varsity.

The NKU ordeal was a different group complaining & perception not being reality. Unfortunately the effort or lack thereof of the top 7-8 players that night made Carrs decision easy to sit them.

The issue there was the parents from the other side of the floor decided Carr quit because he sat down on the bench. When in reality (I was right behind the bench), he sat down to coach the group on the floor, because every time he walked down by the top 7-8 he turned his attention to them & not the group on the floor.

  8. Who are these folks? Which one if the parent?

Based on last names, I'm guessing:

Mark Gaskins - Teacher at Scott (former Carr assistant)

Andrea Sullivan - Teacher at Scott (wife of Tim Sullivan of Cooper)

Dr. Sapp - Principal at Scott

Meister - Parent (Son is currently a freshman, who played JV & sat Varsity)

Jolly - Parent (Son is currently a junior, played Varsity started 75%)

  9. Gaskins Sullivan Meister jolly sapp

I'm guessing that Meister is the one who made numerous complaints about varsity playing time then, as Jolly got significant minutes.

Unfortunately he just wasn't quick enough to get varsity minutes as a freshman imo.

As stated numerous times, there should be no parents of current players on the committee. I'm sure there are several alumi that would have joined the committee who have the best interest of the program in mind as opposed to what's in the best interest of a player.

  10. I'll bite...you don't have to bait me twice. I like Shannon, great coach, may be a little volatile for some tastes, nothing against him, has done a great job in the environment he is in....stepping into the situation currently at Scott may not be the best move for him or the system, that's all.

Enough "guts" for you ? No disrespect, but like others have said, just because you coach doesn't mean everyone has to know all your business.....

Didn't ask anyone to delve into his personal life.

People seem to know or think they know about his past coaching stops & have taken backhanded shots but with no substance, just sizzle.

Everyone that I've heard who is interested & applied (Minor, Fromeyer, Stapleton, Sullivan) seems to be of the same mold as Carr, intense & demanding.

  11. Il take Shannon. He's was a winner when he played. He's been a winner as a coach. I believe he was coach of the year. Seen him coach would love to see him coach my son. Probably no one on here truly knows him. He knows the game better than most and he's a true gym rat. I just hope the parents who complained don't get to do the hiring. I want a true coach not a politically correct coddling coach who holds no one accountable. We lost a great coach and mentor in Coach Carr.

Agree on Carr, Shannon & parent....s.

  12. Just because you coach a sport at the High School level doesn't mean you lose right to privacy to the general public. As the old story goes, there are two sides to every story and the chances of you getting both are slim. Most the time Coaches aren't even told why they are let go.

Don't disagree. But a few seem to think "they know", just curious if they got the "guts" to say it

  13. I love the "the whole team is transferring because the coach is gone" posts. You watch the Scott team will be back and wait to see who they hire first. I remember the same posts when Biggs was hired at Mason. How did that end up?

I don't think he meant players leaving

  14. No, the school has clearly indicated that they want to bring in someone new. Stapleton and Fromeyer are two outstanding coaches and neither of them have made any lead way into the coaching job.

    That's not what you said.

Stapleton won't get the job, he had indicated he won't get it

From what I've heard, a vast majority of the basketball parents are not happy Coach Carr is gone.

I've gathered only 1 parent has indicated they want someone new. Grass isn't always greener. Guess we'll see.

  15. Fromeyer has applied for the job. Stapleton won't get the job, he had indicated he won't get it and he has applied for jobs around the state... School is looking to bring in new blood. Behold is the best person as of now.

So Stapleton applied for a job he indicated he won't get? Interesting
