  1. Sorry we disappointed you and didn't live up to your expectations.

IF you were there you saw some pretty impressive individual efforts and a tale of two different quarters in the second half. Brossart built a 12 point lead at 48-36 after three quarters and the Breds came roaring back, feeding off of our turnovers to outscore us 24-13 in the fourth quarter to just miss. 3 of 10 shooting from the free-throw line nearly contributed to our demise. Not pretty, but exciting.

For Harrison County, I really like sophomore Tyler Harris. He played the majority of the JV game (which the Mustangs won 32-29) and then came back and played a whale of a game in the varsity event, leading the Breds with 16 points. Long, lean and athletic, with a summer spent in the weight room everybody in the region will know his name next year.

Not impressed by Zach Hamberg who led the Mustangs with 18 points including three 3s and stood in and took a pair of charges. Don't know what more you can ask of him. How about sophomore Bryan Duffy??? 5'10" and 205 pounds - solid as a rock - imposed his will on the Breds and scored a career high 13 points tonight. Not impressed with Bryce Kremer, who came off of the bench and knocked down four 3's and scored 17 points. How about Bryson Wieland and Bryce Donnelly who BOTH played with broken fingers - Wieland on his shooting hand and Donnelly on his left hand. I'm giving these two an E for Effort.

Understand also that in some senior laden programs these two teams would be the JV teams. Both have two seniors and a plethora of sophomores who contribute. Both are building, learning, and gaining experience this year.

Again, sorry we didn't meet your expectations tonight. We'll try to do better the next time.

    BB: Wieland 0-0-1/2-1, Schumacher 1-0-0/0-2, Donnelly 2-0-2/3-6, Duffy 5-0-3/8-13, Kremer 2-4-1/2-17, Hamberg 2-3-5/8-18, Bell 2-0-0/0-4

    Totals: 14-7-12/23-61............7-13

    HC: Turley 5-1-1/3-14, Haris 4-2-02/4-16, Gilkey 2-2-3/6-11, Price 0-0-2/2-2, Bryant 2-0-3/4-7, Free 2-1-0/0-7, Midden 1-0-1/2-3

    Totals: 16-6-13/21-60............3-15

    JVs - BB 32-29

    Freshmen - BB 34-21

It's okay Mustang. Maybe next year you can sport a record over 7-13. Not to mention a weak schedule and wins over Bellevue, the Grove, Ludlow and Calvary. Once again, not impressive win over a 3-15 Harrison County crew. Goodnight.

  2. Paris played In the same Christmas tourney at Catholic w Scott..if I'm not mistaken Scott exited stage left real early to the losers bracket...The team that beat Scott (South Laurel) got beat by Fayette, Ga...Paris goes on to beat Fayette, Ga...before beating A Ga team and Henry Clay...lose to Catholic at home and controlled the game til the last 3 mins...loss to Layfayette n the final 4 of Traditional Bank Holiday Tournamnet ..worst game Paris has played...not interested at all...what I'm getting at is how is Scott strength of schedule tougher? Those side county teams that Scott plays can't match the likes of Scott Co..Clark Co..Henry Clay...Lafayette...Mercer Co...Bryan Station...Corbin..Catholic...possibly face LCA in the All A state tourney...come on man.

Scott lost to South Laurel in the first round of the Lex Cath tournament. Second time this season they lost to SL (one of the best teams in the state and that also beat Cov Cath) after that loss they won 3 games in 3 days against two region contenders (Muhlenberg and Sheldon Clark) and Manual. Then proceeded to go on and win three straight against two NKY rivals (Simon Kenton and Holmes) and a tough Boone County. So your statement is wrong, Scott should be ranked above Paris due to Strength of Schedule. Unfortunately we do not have a measure to rank these two teams against eachother because they only time they'd see eachother is the Regional tourney.

  3. I don't have a dog in this fight..... or any fight for that matter. But over the years watching Kenton county schools never ceases to amaze me. The current Superintendent has no love for athletics. I can go on and on regarding their closed door policies but for such astute (sarcasm) academies, they fail to understand the impact athletics have on kids lives. From being awarded college scholarships when they may have no other avenue to better their lives, to preaching eating healthy but restrict a facility that promotes healthy activities are the things that makes them laughable. When you go by their schools at dark, they have every light out to save a few bucks. They clearly have missed the boat of safety for kids and developing kids to be successful in life as they absolutely do nothing to encourage all kids to be active participants in group settings. Go by these schools after hours and you will see how inviting. Lights out, doors locked kids triping over parking blocks because they can't see, coaches terminated for being to hard etc.... Just absolutely ridiculous that this community sits in their hands and allows this group of administers continue to make the "best choices for you" Because they know what's best.

It's time for a change in Kenton county and they need to start at the top and eliminate a very top heavy organization that is more worried about their jobs than supporting all their kids to grow healthy, intelligently and successfully

Obviously you do have a dog in the fight.... LOL

  4. Granted there are only 4 frames here but the flagrant foul on this was a joke. Ohmer's off balance air routines often have him hitting the deck.

This wasn't Jakes best flop of the night. That would be on the charge on Kelch in the post that Coach Steiner was T on. Refs bought that one. I only wished Trent would have flopped all the way when he was demonstrating. He has seen enough Duke games to know how to flop.

Intentional or not you can't put your hands on someone's back and pushing them as they're going up for a layup? Did you see how hard he hit the deck?
