That it the youth camp for the kids, the High School team camp for SK is June 6th from 6pm to 8pm, June 13th at Summit View Academy from 6pm to 8pm. June 15th at Towne and Country Sports Complex from 6pm to 8pm. June 20th and June 22nd at SK from 6pm.
Simon Kenton is hosting a few out of town teams during these dates also so should be some good basketball to see.

Lot of complaining about physical play. SK usually is the aggressor.
SK plays aggressive defense but does not throw obvious blatant punches
-
Shocker is that Stinson played the entire game after throwing a punch in the 2nd quarter got warned which was a clear punch motion, then came out in the 3rd and then punched a Simon Kenton girl in the face and got called for a common technical. I don't blame officials that much but this was home cooking 101.
I thought any contact to the head especially non-basketball related should be an ejection. But SK never gave up played overall good defense, some shots just didn't fall. But they played their buts off and if the rest of the 8th isn't scared I would be now that SK is coming off a loss they are going to want blood the rest of the way

Congratulations. Does this point count start from her sixth grade year at Scott?
Yes they include her Scott Varsity points. For career stats they include any Varsity points scored no matter what school they are for.
-
Last night at the LIT SK's Ally Niece scores her career 2500th point. I do believe that after talking with some of my SK friends she stands to be at 2503.
Congrats Ally

Yes in the LIT in Louisville
-
I believe that Conner had shot something like 20 3's tonight there were a bunch shot but just didn't fall, I know of 4 made
-
Per KHSAA scoreboard the final was 70-44. Per the SK's Girls Basketball Facebook page there was a scoring error on the scoreboard and the Final score was incorrect on the scoreboard.

Simon Kenton will travel into Hebron this Thursday. Who wins this game and why? Conner lives by the 3 and can sink shots, Simon Kenton is just on fire now rolling through the NKY scene. Does Conner have enough to throw some water on the firestorm that SK is right now?
Give me your Thoughts and GO!!!!!

Final from Florence, SK walked into that gym and just dominated, it was a 34 point game at half. Boone just couldn't handle the aggresiveness of SK.
SK will go into Hebron on Thursday to Play Conner before heading to Louisville Friday to play in the LIT.

Yes it is being held at Oldham Co.

Kenton Co. School District has Cancelled all Kenton Co. Events

Congratulations to Niece, Meire, Harmayer and Harney for making the all tournament team as selected by the tournament committee. Jones and Gilliam were also worthy of consideration. Good job ladies!
Sounds like it was based by stats and overall play if they had a Tournament Commite selecting the team

Final from the Gateway Classic at Montgomery County, the Lady Pioneers look to defend their Championship tomorrow against Dunbar
-
Final from the Gateway Classic at Montgomery Co.
The Lady Pioneers came out strong and never held back.
Bush was still starting, Meier came off the Bench and had another heck of a game. I think she is getting a little fire under her belt

is this really scheduled for 8:00pm why so late?

You can insert any coach's name you want in there. Other than very small local schools, colleges just don't recruit from high school anymore. It's no different at SK. If a big school is in a high school gym, 99.99% of the time it's because they already discovered the kid and they are "courting" her or him. The reason you see big schools in there now are for two reasons. Neice and Harney. Bigger schools just don't show up at practice and high school games to recruit randomly. If they are there, they are there to see someone they are already on the trail of...in almost every case. Everyone can come on here and give me an exception, but the norm is what I'm describing .
Let me ask you this...Niece used to play for Scott. If she would have stayed at Scott, are you saying that she wouldn't have the same exposure she has now? No, the recruiters would be in Scott's gym instead of SK.
Harney is a JR and has a lot of interest...do you think her stock just went up because she transferred to SK??? No! They are in the gym because those kids are in the gym. Not because of who their coach is. And almost every high school coach had very little to do with the kids foundational skills. So I'm not buying that kids go to a certain school because of the exposure or what that coach can do to help them get in college. Do some coaches have relationships with college coaches...sure! But at the end of the day, that recruiters job depends on the quality of players they pull in. So they are going to make the right decision for their program...regardless if a high school coach is their best buddy!
Dude you're kidding me right??? You think that there is no exposure difference at SK then at Scott???
Look at the past couple of years with different tournaments that the schools have been in
SK has been playing in the LexCath Tournament since I think this is 5 or 6 years maybe even longer. Which is traditionally an invitational, tournament with huge exposure to college programs, SK is in one of the biggest tournaments in the state this year with the LIT,
I don't see where you would even think of there is no exposure difference at. As for your other comment I don't know what type of exposure MC has done with Harney, I am sure she has already gotten offers on the table,
But what you are describing is completely insane Playing games that make your team better and getting out there in the view of other programs is what you fight for.
Just take a look at SK's Schedule besides conference, region, and district games that they have to play who do you see on their schedule, Other top programs from around the state, They play the Mercer Co., Sacred Hearts, Elizabethtowns, Scott Co.'s. they don't schedule it safe and build the record up. The prepare for a run for the state tournament.
-
I'm just not sure that would be enough for me. Heck, both my girls live and lived in the SK district and didn't go there!
And another thing that was lacking that I was looking for...academics. So they all went to SK because of Stowers?
And just one last thing...kids and parents today know that your high school career have nothing to do with getting recruited in college. If that was true, I would guess they would be knocking down the doors at HHS to get in with Jaime (walz) Richey there and a b-line to Louisville with her brother coaching. What connections do you think that staff has!!!
Just a few reasons why I just don't buy the "coach" thingy.
Then why aren't they knocking on the doors I don't want to speculate. I know that Coach Stowers has been getting calls for several of his players. Not only calls but I have personally seen college coaches in the gym at SK games could they be looking at other teams I would like to think yes but these are not recruiters but Head Coaches showing up to the gym.
-
Agreed! No issue with that. I don't want them if they don't want to be there.
However, if there is influence from the other school, staff or anyone associated with the program, then that's where I have an issue.
Outside of that...it's up to them.
I still don't like it because of situations like Gilliam and many others. In general (not just at SK), I think high school is not the place to build powerhouses. High school programs should be filled with kids that grew up battling together and get to have your school go against mine. With a lot of transfers, you really lose a lot of that. Some teams don't hardly have any hometown kids on the floor half the time. That's just a little sad to me. But I get it. Kids want to play with their buddies and some will transfer. But I still feel for the hometown kid that busted tail, just to see their spot taken by a transfer because they wanted to play with buddies.
If you are referring to they Harney situation it's been posted on a previous thread that they were going to be moving up here even before the decision to play at any school. Family issues came up and it was time.for them to come.home as stated before. So someone was going to lose time it was the matter of where. I don't see where the decision came from playing with "buddies" had to come with that would this be said if she deciede to go somewhere else? It is all about being comfortable where you are. Would you want your kid at a school where they are unhappy or doesn't like? I would I would try my best to find a place that where my kid can succeed.
Simon Kenton's Ally Niece Injures Knee
in KY Girls Basketball (High School)
Posted
OK before rumors fly and others start the gossip tree. Yes Ally Niece suffered a knee injury tearing her ACL, MCL during summer games. Injuries happen it's part of the game. She has had the surgery and is recovering comfortably. It will be more than likely that the lady pioneers will have her back in uniform mid January.
