  1. Tri State Internet Sports Radio will be broadcasting the entire 9th Region Girls Tournament starting tonight with the first round games.

For an in depth look at the 9th region draw for those interested, Click on the link below. This is the draw video we did with our GoPro. We were in the back of the room (won't do that again) but you can hear and somewhat see what is going on.

Ah, next time, you may want to tell people this is a download and it is a rather large file at 761Mb!

  2. They are just so well rounded as a team. Granted I have only seen a few girls games this year and have not seen Highlands or NCC, but I think they have to be favorites.

Forgive me if I am wrong but I believe it is Ally Mayhaus who is the starting center? She's tall and long and finishes well around the rim and uses her length to disrupt shots in the paint without fouling.

Does NCC or Highlands have height to combat what she brings to the table?

Englemon is a poised point guard who plays angles really well and is always in control. I think she is the most important piece for Holy Cross. She was terrific tonight.

Turner is a solid scorer and can knock down 3's. Tucker plays under control and will make open shots. Hassert sp? plays her role very well.

One chink in the armor for Holy Cross that I see, is I don't think they are very deep.

They just are hard to guard if they make perimeter shots. They can stretch you and open up the paint for Mayhaus.

Plus they have the experience. Region finals last year? Won the All-A this year. Experienced group.

Englemon? Think you mean Dajah McClendon.

Yes, Hassert is how it is spelled.

No, thev weren't in the region finals last year.

  3. HC also played Laurence North IN which last time I checked was ranked in the top 20 in the nation by ESPN

True - but I was replying to the comment "Which teams have been scheduled to play six or more of these teams during the regular season? Six seems to be a fair number to determine strength of schedule." The ones I listed were teams in the Top 20 listing. Plus it is hard to gauge outside teams since likely no one else in the Top 20 has played them.

  4. Which teams have been scheduled to play six or more of these teams during the regular season? Six seems to be a fair number to determine strength of schedule.

Here are the results of the (7) games vs. top 20 teams that Covington Holy Cross has played:

    (W) 51-47 #2. Holmes

    (W) 47-46 #9. Murray

    (L) 44-55 #10. East Carter

    (W) 40-39 #12. Highlands

    (W) 61-54 #16. Allen County-Scottsville

    (W) 54-46 #17. Sacred Heart

    (W) 39-31 #17. Sacred Heart

  5. Have no dawg in this fight, but with a 6 and 1 record against top 20 and a win head to head to me Holy Cross should clearly be ranked above Holmes. I dont think it is even close. That being said it doesnt mean that HC is clearly better. I would say a team ranked 3rd and 4th for example should be fairly even. Realistically there are four teams that could win the region this year. Gonna be fun. Also, I like the fact that HC has been through the All A, I think it gives them a leg up come tourney time. Who ever wins the region this year could go a long long way, until they meet Etown, no one in KY is beating them. Good luck 9th region!

We all know the (3) teams but who in your opinion is the 4th ("Realistically there are four teams that could win the region this year.")???

  6. In one of the HC threads someone commented about the boys and girls banners. Couldn't find the original post to attach this to.

Cinder blocks used as the scale.

Not sure what the issue is. Each team has a team liaison and a group of parents for their own kids. Typically, the school provides the posters but usually the parents chip in to offset the costs. Each has their own fundraisers, too. If a particular sport splurges, then this will be the result. The girls' team was expected to do quite well this year with a larger than your typically year performance, hence the larger posters. Even though I don't have any children on the basketball teams, I am not angry the football posters are smaller. In fact I think they are cool! They thought of it, let them do it.

I think everyone needs to get over the fact that everything doesn't always have to be equal for everyone. My goodness, the issues people bring up.
