  1. Boxcore says Harney had the 26. Is this not correct?

  2. No, Maggie Jones' sisters all played at Simon Kenton. Maggie is a young freshman (won't turn 15 until the summer) and is the real deal ... she is stuck a little bit in the shadow of some really good older players at SK, but her ceiling may be the highest on that team IMO.

Not that it is a bad thing, there are several younger players who are a little stuck in some of the shadows. They are eager when they get out on the floor. This, I think, adds depth to the roster that they have not had in the past. At the same time, those younger players have more confidence playing now than they did earlier in the year. Stowers and staff have done a better job with that this year.

  3. Jones was out of the starting line up again. The rotation and subbing seemed to be off tonight. Shooting seemed cold tonight except for Meier underneath. 3 point shots were probably less than 50 percent. Just not falling. Stamper out of game early with an injury. Harmeyer possibly injured. Did not play hardly any of 2nd half, could not get going and tearing up at times on bench. Jones didn't see a lot of action 2nd half as well.

  4. SK doesn't lose much when they go to the bench. They're loaded with ballplayers. Niece had an efficient 15 or so, and Meier was a handful in the post. Williamstown kept it close for a quarter and change, just too much SK in the second half.

Congrats to Madi Meier and Morgan Stamper both had double doubles during the Williamstown game. Meier with 14 pts and Stamper with 20 pts off the bench to lead SK scorers.

  5. Good win for Butler.

Simon kenton, imo, has taken a couple of steps backwards over the last couple of games in the tourney both in play and coaching . Players were distraught after the win and visibly upset after loss on Thurs. Coaches going in a couple of different directions. Gone were the games with more balanced scoring and passing the ball and playing as a unified team.

They need that back if they are going to be successful at the end of the season.

  6. I do hope that #20 Strunk for Walton Verona recovers from her fall tonight.

Simon Kenton played a strong defensive game from the start. Quite a few deflections and steals during the game from SK.

This year's SK team is quick, has very good ball movement during the game and more balanced scoring from starters and importantly from the bench.

SK had three players scoring double digits: Ally Niece -14, Kendyl Gilliam -13, and Morgan Stamper -10.

S/O to Morgan Stamper who also had 20 points in the JV game, if i heard the announcer correctly.

  7. I would love to see Maggie Jones move into the starting lineup. I think that she has really matured and become the top 3 point shooter. She also brings the ability to sit down and guard on the perimeter. With the attention that Harney and Niece will garner Maggie should get a lot of good looks.

There are several that could comfortably fill in the starting line up. Each bring a little something different.

    Harney

    Jones

    Stamper

    Buckner (injured)

  8. Ockerman and Highlands played tonight in Fort Thomas. Highlands 6th grade won big, Ockerman 7th grade won by double digits. 8th grade game was won 42-40 on a last second shot by Highlands. 7th grade game Barth played well for Highlands, while Cole Shumate, Donovan Robinson, Teon Neale and Corbin Fletcher played well for Ockerman. 8th grade game Clukey, Muller and Fahlbush all played very well Parker Fields led Ockerman with 17 points and double digit rebounds. Highlands may have moved 3 or so players up to freshman, but they have several nice players on this team.

I believe a couple of 7th grade kids from Twenhofel and Summit View moved up to the freshman level as well for Simon Kenton.
