Anyone know who CC is scrimmaging in the preseason?
-
A new school in the 11th region with many of the programs that Fredrick Douglass will offer in order to attract all types of kids to school is a step up from mercer county. Can't blame the guy.
-
Believe it starts 12/21
-
Looks like Luke Johnson was the best player on the floor.
Scott County couldn't do anything with him. Got anywhere he wanted.
Moreno kid is a star in the making.
Great game. Have a feeling they will meet again down the road.
-
Didn't see updated rankings. A little better.
-
How is Luke Johnson from Lex Cath not on this list? There certainly not 33 players better than him. And Hollingsworth at 17? Wow. Disagree whole heartedly with order but not a terrible list.
-
Pretty sure u don't get offers if u don't play defense at that level . Kid can knock down shots as well.
Nice player. Solid. don't remember him being overly athletic or great defender or great shooter. Good for him. Maybe I saw him on a bad day. Congrats.
MuWV- did he start as sophomore last year? What were his stats? Look forward to watching him this year. Put anyone of quality next to the Johnson (most under rated player in state) and Payne kids and LC should be pretty good.
-
Not gonna beat Dunbar if they make shots like they did tonight. Really playing well. Have to be the favorite in Richmond next week.
Congrats to LCA on a good season. They will be better next year.

I refuse to believe that there's 5 players in the 11th region better than Darius Williams. The 5 kids listed in front of him don't even believe that. As far as him not attacking enough, how can he attack when he's double and triple teamed EVERYTIME he touches the ball. When he does attack he has 2 to 3 defenders hanging all over him and doesn't get a call. Game after game he gets hammered when going to the basket. Every coach screams "GET DARIUS!" Why? Because they know what he's capable of doing. People say he doesn't facilitate enough but how can he facilitate when he's smothered by everyone else's man and the bench. He's been boxed and chased since the 6th grade. Have you ever seen Darius's arms after a game? The kid looks like he's been cat scratched. Go back and look at the Madison Central and Doss games if you wanna see him facilitate though. He's never been 0-20! As a matter of fact, out of 30+ games last year he took 20 plus shot attempts in only 5 or 6 games. One of those games he was 14-21 with 40 points. How many of those 5 listed in front of him are capable of that? Don't worry I'll wait? Not to mention he shot 50% from the field and 40% from long range last season. He can't guard? Everyone I've seen him guard doesn't keep the ball in their hands long. They're awfully quick to give it up. I've never seen anyone of the 5 listed in front of him stop anyone. I can go on all day but I won't. I'll leave you with this. People should start reading the entire book instead of judging it off of one chapter. Darius has the total package. This is the year you'll see him put it all together! Mooremiller said it best, there's not coach in the state that wouldn't start him on they're team. I'm really look forward to this season though! The 11th will be a battle zone!
If Darius is so good how come Dunbar has not won a regional tournament game since he has been there?
Think the kid is a nice player but no one that knows about basketball cares if you can score 40 points or if you have been box and one since you were in 6th grade. Best thing Darius can do is not worry about rankings, what other people think or how many shots he gets and lead his team to the state tournament.
A lot of pressure on the bulldogs this year!!!!

I agree that those should be the top 4 teams, but I think there is a noticeable gap between the first two and the second two.
I see Dunbar as a legit State Championship contender, with Lafayette possibly in the mix as well. Henry Clay and Bryan Station could make a run at winning the region, but I don't think either of those will be in the picture as top teams in the state.
Players:
Williams
Hollingsworth
Jenkins
1. Dunbar
The rest: Lafayette, HC, Station, Lex Cath
IMO Dunbar is head and shoulders better than everyone. Class of their own. Hands down the overwhelming favorite.
Lafayette, HC, Station, Lex Cath all about even. Lex Cath is the sleeper in my opinion
Players:
Tavieon Hollinsworth
Darius Williams
DeAndre Dishman
Luke Johnson (kid is a star, but no one has seen him)

Does anyone in the state, let alone 10th region have a harder regular season schedule than Scott this year?
Other than Cov Cath, Holmes, Mason, Scott COunty (maybe) who is any good on their schedule. Id have to whole heartedly disagree and say that there are some team in this state that would love to have that schedule.
-
What AAU team does he play for? He is not on any of the teams around Lexington. Also I'm pretty sure he is 16. Older for a sophomore. My son knows some guys TC goes to school with. Looks like nice role player down the road for Coach Salsman.

For a small holiday tournament, the Best In Hoops Classic at Oldham County has been really competitive the past couple of years with another good group coming this year from what I hear. Some of the teams from the past are Owensboro, Eastern, St X, Male, Manual, Fern Creek, Lou Central, and Simon Kenton.
Who is coming this year?
-
Preseason favorite has to be Dunbar, best group of starters in the 11th. Their schedule is a work of art, tack the 43rd district and 11th region tournaments on the end of it and you could have one of the toughest schedules ever. Hope they don’t peak too early or burn out, but glad to see how much coach Chalk believes in his team in setting this up.
Sleeper has to be Lafayette. Experience and depth at every position, lots of senior leadership and hungry from lots of “almost-there” the last couple of years, very balanced – can beat you multiple ways, a quality big, a good coach. No big names also might mean better chemistry.
Players: Taveion Hollingsworth had an amazing AAU season at the national level. He, Williams, and Brown will get lots of deserved headlines for Dunbar. Really liked Station’s DeAndre Dishman at KBA in May, he could break out big – hit the books, kid, someone might want to pay your way to college. Ross Jenkins from Lafayette will put up big numbers. I think Brown at Dunbar and King at LCA still have lots of upside potential. Haven’t seen the Price kid at LexCath, but having college interest before hitting the varsity floor makes me eager to check him out.
jmo
Ill take Scott County or Lexington Catholic or Lafayette. Plain and simple. The first two (Scott and LC) have won 8 of the last 10 region titles combined. Lafayette has the best coach in the region. Pre-season rankings are meaningless. One of those three will represent the 11th region in Rupp next March.
-
IMO I think the 12th Region can make a valid argument for toughest region in the state.
:no::no:
This is comical. No chance.
-
In the tournament, Mercer beat Grant, Southwestern, Bryan Station, Lafayette and Henry Clay. Can't recall a time where this could be said in the past, but Mercer's athleticism matches that of any of those schools. And their size is superior to all of those.
You failed to mention the game they lost to an average LCA team?
Mercer played well Sunday but caught some good breaks. Nontheless, congrats to them. Nice team. See if they can do it when it matters in February and March.
-
How'd Mason look?
Mason is solid. Played very well both games I thought. Should be tough in the 10th. Montgomery also appears to be pretty good.
-
Justin Kelly who started every game last year, Vince Clark the first substitute off their bench, and Cameron Thomas
Cameron Thomas is not going to be playing with Dunbar this year. Probably a good thing for Coach chalk and company.
-
Dunbar was missing 3 kids from their normal rotation today.
Who were they missing?

Lex Cath had a 10 point lead in the 3rd quarter as well. Nice win for Beechwood.
