Old Referee

Thanks Snakeshot! I was there too...I was on the on the officiating crew. We use a game card to keep track of time outs, who the captains are, Unsportsman Like Conduct, etc. It was so close to a first down, the Referee, who wanted to really make sure he got the call right, pulled out his game card to see if there was any space between the stick and the ball. He was a FANTASTIC Referee. But this was bad mechanics. If it is that close - and it was - he should have called it first down and moved the sticks. There is huge respect between the programs. What tradition!

Looking for any & all information on this game, including date, winner, details, and any recollections. On a crucial 4th down, the referee used his game card to see if there was any gap between the downs marker and the tip of the ball.
