  1. Next season's schedule is not as frontloaded with top tier teams as this and last years were. So there should be some games to take advantage of developement. Most of the freshman class played on a travel squad last fall that went undefeated in several state tourny's, then went to Dallas and won the FCS National Championship. Maroon's have 6 or 7 solid sophs and most in the freshman class have good skills, they have been together on this travel squad for about six years. So I am really looking forward to the next few years.

  2. Madisonville went 4-6 last regular season and lost to Franklin-Simpson in the first round of the playoffs. I look for them to win 5 games this year with an outside shot at a sixth. Their offense will be somewhat improved this year with a more solid offensive line to work with and some speed in the backfield.

The defense should be much improved with a solid looking secondary that added a few kids from the basketball team.

District will probably come down to the Maroons and Calloway Co. battling for second place behind Hoptown. I think Coach Burgett and his staff will have a lot of ups and downs this season but, the future looks very bright. They have a ton of talent coming up in the Soph. and Fresh. classes.

One of the Fresh. off/def linemen was just voted Defensive MVP of the KY/Tenn Future Stars game this past weekend at WKU.

  3. U of Cincinnati camp is a good one to attend. They have a lot of small schools in attendance with several asst. coaches per school. Right now the smaller schools are concentrating on this years recruiting. They are trying to pick up the kids the big schools missed, and secure the ones they have been hard after. Keep sending them the info (all of them) is what I recommend, it helped my son tremendously. Sometimes a small bite can turn into a frenzy.

  4. Madisonville has always been a place with potential. I have always heard the parents there are a nightmare. This is the reason there has been so much coaching turnover. They have produced some great kids over the years. I have never heard any complaints about Mad-ville kids, only parents.

There is nothing wrong with the parents at MNHHS. Granted there are not enough that are involved with the booster program but, they don't have an out of the ordinary issue with problem parents. Everybody has 1 or 2 who think their kid is an all american.

As far as talent goes, they will be down a little the next year or two but, when the incoming Freshman and eighth grade classes get their turn... I wouldn't want to be on the schedule.

  5. Agreed.. I love Harris, but he should just accept that he didn't win it and move on. I believe he is the best player in the state, but just like your draft rating, injuries affect awards you win also. That said, he's still a teenager, so let's not beat him to death over a Twitter comment.

I was really referring to Elam chiming in. After his stupid remarks last year, you think he would wise up and mind his own business. I'm sure his coaches will not appreciate them.

  6. If Madisonville wins tonight, I see them running the table the rest of the way. If and WHEN they meet Owensboro again, I see a totally different out come. The Maroons came out tight against Owensboro, worried about all the accolades everyone was bestowing upon them. When they settled down and figured out they could play with them, they dominated the rest of the game but, it was a hole a tad to deep. It took a game winning drive and two ghost penalties for the Devils to win the game.
