I think that would be a great staff. Coop as HC Spencer OC and Kevin as DC. I heard he applied, would be great if he got the job
-
I think Feggins will get the most out of his players and make this interesting

Bill Letton would be an excellent candidate!! Where did he go after leaving Lexington Catholic?
I don't think he is coaching any where right now. It would be great if he was on the list of canidates. I like the list being Letton, Bert, Poynter, Leffew, Cooper and M Jaggers.
It would be nice if they could get any one of those

I can confirm that it's not true.
I think that is where the search should start

I heard Chris Cooper is on the short list of canidates. Can anyone confirm this?

Understood completely. Just think it's a bit of a rush. I'm surprised that Haddix got the nod because I didn't think that he was very high on their list of candidates. Haddix will be a GREAT coach in time. I just don't know if a guy that hasn't seen the age of 30 pass him by yet is ready for the bear that is Corbin athletics, especially Corbin football.
I'm not sure whether you could correctly consider Corbin a football or a basketball school if you had to choose one over the other. I'd call them a football and basketball school, but they take each very serious.
Anyway, back when the basketball squad hired Pietrowski in the early 2000's, they got a guy who'd starred as a Corbin athlete and had roots there, but the natives were still restless with the product he was putting out on the floor.
Haddix doesn't have any ties to Corbin that are immediately apparent and you'd have to agree is still a little green when it comes to coaching in general. Compare that with his not having the advantage of knowing the lay of the land or having been a star athlete for the school in the way that Coach Pietrowski had and you might have a recipe for someone who doesn't get to stick around long enough to build the program and enjoy the same success as Coach P.
If the Redhound faithful are patient, then there is no reason why Haddix can't succeed, I just don't know how they'll handle the speed bumps along the way.
Jewell took Corbin to a State Championship game. They had lost (badly) in the playoffs on the road to the eventual State Champs 2 out of the past 3 seasons.
If we go 3 out of 4, you'll see a bad home loss to the eventual champ (who beat the their opponent in the Championship game just as badly) in the semis. That was in 2A, which Corbin doesn't appear to be in under the proposed alignment that will take effect next.
Even from there, we can go 4 out of 6 and see that they lost to the eventual runner up in the State Semi. The NCC team that beat them 26-7 went on to lose to a good Fort Campbell team in the finals 26-23.
If Corbin fans weren't happy with what Jewell was doing, I'm not convinced that they'd have envisioned turning the reigns over to a young guy in Haddix who hasn't been past the 2nd Round of the 5A playoffs.
Again, I think Haddix will be a GREAT coach one day. I just don't know if Corbin fans (boosters, administration, parents, etc.) will be patient enough with him, especially through the installation of a new offense, for his biggest wins to come on their sideline.
In the grand scheme of things, this is a huge risk unless each plans on making this a long-term project. Unless Corbin has some major talent coming up that really fits his system, you are throwing a guy with 4 years' head coaching experience (at a basketball school) into the cauldron if you expect him to have the kind of success that most fans thought they should have had over the past few years in anything less than 4-5 seasons. Over time, I think Haddix will be great, but I'm not sure if he's going to be able to have the kind of leeway that will be required.
If it's a rebuilding job, then so be it, it's a great fit and they got their man. I just think it's going to take some real time for them to completely re-invent their system, implement that at the youth levels, then start to see some real results against the likes of the new 3A with Central, Boyle County (with Smith), Lexington Catholic, Belfry, Bell County, (or even western schools like Elizabethtown, Fort Campbell, and Paducah Tilghman).
I wouldn't call corbin a "basketball" school
