  1. I agree. It's fine to brag about a child, and you're right to be proud of him, but a public forum like this might not be the best place to do it. It's only high school soccer... In a few years no one will remember anyone from this graduating year.

This blog might be a nicer place if people spent a little more time talking or "bragging" about the good things and a little less time talking down about other people's kids or teams.

  2. The CCH defense deserves to have their shutout streak ended as they need to learn how to play without fouling the best shooter on a team. You have some real resentment issues towards a 17 year old kid...I wonder who you will focus all this hate towards next year? If you are looking for him you can find him at Marshall. Have a nice night.

  3. Scott scores on a gift/flop free kick but other than that no real threats. Michael Wessels and Griffin Lamb both with hat tricks for CCH. Lot of reserves in the game second half.

Gift/Flop...what a joke the only gift I saw given was your player only getting a yellow for taking Morgan out as he was headed to goal at the end of the game. It really bothers you that much that Morgan scored on your team. Especially after an 8 to 1 win. You are a piece of work. As for the rest of the CCH faithful I wish you all the best of luck with the rest of your season.

  4. Unfortunately I don't have time right now to get into everything. I will try to dig back into this later. I did want to address a couple things. While I appreciate stepovers love for the Eagles a few of their statements are incorrect. The score ended 7 to 0. There was only about 5 minutes left to play we really don't know the exact time as no clock was viewable and the AR would not respond when asked. I personally would have finished it out but I was not in the conversation that the two coaches had together prior to the decision being made. Unfortunately player safety was an issue. It is a real shame when a few players verbally threaten physical harm to a player on the opposing team especially when the team making the threats is winning 4 to 0 at the time. I do not believe any NKY team would do this. Baring this, Oldham County is a quality team and there is not a scenario where I think the Eagle's would have come out ahead of this one with the overall talent level we are at this year.

  5. The eagles came out slow and West Jessamine scored in the first 5 min. WJ second goal was actually an own goal. Scott''s defense which struggles anyway is missing our starting center back due to ACT test day. Scott''s first goal was actually scored by Hegerty off an excellent cross from Morgan that scimmed the goal mouth right to Hegerty''s foot for the touch in. Second goal for Scott was a PK that was awarded to Morgan and buried. Morgan was man marked heavily the whole game and was brought down in the box by 3 WJ players to earn the PK.

  7. Morgan is a very good player. Day is an excellent player. I've been watching these two play club together for many years. Morgan has some great tricks and skills. Day has some great tricks and skills, but with an added finesse and athletism built in. Now, if both these guys were on the same high school team... Wow.

No surprise to anyone that I don't completely agree with your opinion. As far as tricks and skill go, I believe they are both very technically gifted players. As for finesse I agree that Day has the edge on Morgan. As far as athletism goes I disagree with you, I too have watched them both and believe that they are pretty equal on this front as well. Morgan has incredible strength on and off the ball which is where I believe he has the edge over Day. When it all comes out in the wash they are both extremely gifted at exploiting their strengths on the field and therefore are both excellent players with different styles. They compliment each other when they are team mates and I know that they both admire and respect each other for their strengths.

  8. I just saw this article:

Colonels up to the Ninth Region challenge

    Marc Hardin, prepsports@enquirer.com 10:12 p.m. EDT August 13, 2015

    Players To Watch

•Bryce Day, Covington Catholic: All-around standout registered six goals and five assists as a junior

    •Nathan Roe, Ryle: Two-time first-team all-region defender as a shutdown sweeper.

•Devin Morgan, Scott: Senior scored 16 goals and recorded a team-high 24 assists for the state runner-up.

•Adam Snow, Cooper: Junior forward was named all-state honorable mention last season.

•Charlie Wend, Conner: Senior midfielder scored 15 goals and had five assists in 2014.

Looks like a good start for a top 10 list to me.

  9. Why did this go to PK's? This wasn't a district game. Heck, neither team is in the same region.

This game is set up like a cross-town shoot out between the two schools, there is a traveling trophy sponsored by ISC therefore a winner is required. There is no overtime the game just goes straight to PK's.

  10. Did Scott start with their "Regular" rotation last night? Anyone not play the first half?

We did have one starting defender out with a concussion but other than that the "regular" rotation was playing...to be honest given our numbers there really isn't much of an option in that regard. Scott's coach did try a different formation that obviously didn't work for our team. Live and learn. There was one thing interesting that happened in the game that no one has mentioned. At one point in the second half, Hegerty was driving into the box when two defenders moved towards him. Hegerty fell to the ground and the CR blew his whistle motioned for a PK and carded a Calvary player (would have been his second yellow). Hegerty said that the kid didn't touch him, he tripped and fell on his own. The CR reversed the call. I commend Hegerty for his sportsmanship and honesty in this situation especially considering the flak he has gotten in the past for getting an occasional card himself. I have never in all my years watching HS, club, or college soccer seen a CR change a call based on something a player says.
