  1. Is it possible for Chris Wolfe to apply and interview for the Boyle County job and not inform the AD at Male in an effort to keep him in the dark about his desire to leave and go coach/teach at Boyle County?

I’ve been told by different committee members that there have been 3-4 coaches inquire or apply about the job and ask for their names to be kept private.

  2. I haven't seen list. I know Brando is number 1 on list. Haddix is in the next 3 and depending on who you talk with who the number 2 choice is. That came from someone on the selection comm. and maybe that was their choice.

I guess you’re right it just depends on which committee member you talk to, we must not have talked to the same one .😁

  3. Brandon Smith is of course number 1 on the Boyle want list. Haddix is number 2 and then several other good candidates. Hodge is not on the list.

Have you seen the list, I’m being told there’s bigger names on the list than Haddix, no disrespect to Haddix I think he’s a great coach but from what I’m hearing he’s probably 4th or 5th on the list.

  4. Coach Mason told me yesterday that he thought we would hear something by the first of next week, kinda sounds like they’re looking at 5 coaches 4 of them have won state titles at other schools and the other has a great resume.

I want to clear something up about this post the only thing coach said in this post was that he thought we would hear something by next week, the rest of the post is pure speculation on my part coming from different people I’ve talked to about the coaching position.

  5. I currently coach at Boyle and when I applied I was told by the administration that the same Job I applied for must be posted for 30 days even though I was the only candidate. Any job that has tax funds spent on it, therefore, any school job teaching or not must be posted for at least 30 days according to what I was told.

I could be wrong and I am ok with that as I stated that is just what I was told when I was hired.

I’m sure you’re right that it has to be posted for 30 days.

  6. If this job is like any other school job then it has to be posted for at least 30 days before the official hiring process can take place. It was posted on December 17th and if my math is right that means it will close Jan 16th. I don't think there will be any info available until at least that date.

I asked the same question and was told no it doesn’t have to be posted 30 days because it’s a non teaching job.

  7. I'm somewhat doubtful that Jaggers is interested to apply. Based on the response that Boyle County fans gave him in here, either they can't get their heads around having a Danville grad coaching their Rebels, or they're expecting Boyle County to take the step into FBS in the next alignment and need someone with a proven bowl record.

Funny you should mention a Danville coach at Boyle County not sure if it’s true or not but I was told that Sam Harp has applied for the Boyle job, as far as Jagger’s goes I just don’t see the appeal.

  8. I personally believe that if it isn’t Brandon then Travis is the logical choice. Boyle county has a system that few can repeat and will take someone who knows the way to keep it going. I think that Travis has coached under chuck for two years now and seen how he runs the program. Travis first stint as head coach was going based on what he knew as a player of Chuck so I believe this time you would see a different approach. I just think that the program needs a coach that will continue to lead and run it the way it has been under Chuck. Change happens and sometimes it’s for the better but I like the if it ain’t broke don’t fix it way better.

No disrespect to Travis I’m sure he’s a great person but I believe that would be taking a step in the wrong direction, he just doesn’t have the experience way to much time and money spent on the program to take a gamble like that. IMO

  9. Not surprising. Writing his own story there.

I think this job and who gets it is real interesting now. Boyle’s “wish list” and who they actually get might be two different things. They’ll get a good coach, but who the chatter is about and who actually get offered, then pulls the trigger to pack yo their families and move?

Whole lot of factors in these decisions nowadays on the coaches end of things- more so than ever before.

Pardue is retiring also, Hester is retiring from the classroom but staying onto coach at least until his youngest son graduates in a year or two. Are there not any assistants that want it? Bill Mason has gotten into administration while still helping out, Mike Settles has to be getting close to retirement age/years like Hester and might not want to ride that horse again?

    This will be interesting.

I was told that Settles retired about a week ago or so ago.

  10. My guess/prediction is Travis Leffew.

Just throwing a dart to see if it sticks. I have no info at all on if he is even applying.

I do hope Josh Jaggers applies.

Not sure if he’s applied or not but definitely don’t see that happening, was told last week that they have a long list of applicants and that people may be surprised at some of the names that have applied for the opening, I definitely don’t see them hiring one of the current assistant coaches.

  11. Don’t think they can talk Lanter to go back to QB, he kind of hates it. Loves WR / DB/ KR

Bodner lacks size and arm , would make good RB, very tough. If Sims puts in the work this off season I think he can get it done.

Cole told me that Pardue asked him to play QB next season and he told Pardue that he would if they wanted him to, now things may have changed since the end of the regular season but Cole told me this himself.

  12. Sheperson, Zeismer, Logan, Clark, Alexander,Sims,Tiller and Jackson Smith have all shown the ability to be at a level from great to very good receivers. Then add Will McDaniel out of the backfield who has great pass catching ability and is a threat to score every time he touches the ball. I want to have my dual threat weapon like Cole Lanter touching the ball on every play rather than a few times per game at WR. I like Cole Sims and Avery Bodner very much as future QB's, but in my opinion, neither is ready for the starting job and especially not while we have Lanter.

    Agree totally, well said!!!

  13. The rumor I heard is that it will be Cole’s. Not sure how true it is and I haven’t heard it directly from him or his family but I heard he is very adamant about not playing QB.

I talked to Cole at one of Boyle middle school games towards the end of the season and he said Pardue had asked him to play QB next year and he told me that if they wanted him to play QB that he was going to.

  14. The upcoming Jr class at South Warren were middle school runners up in 7th and in the semifinals in 8th grade. At least 7 sophomores started at south this season. The Spartan pipeline rivals any in the state. Highly doubtful that Smith will leave.

I guess it all boils down to how bad he wants to come home.

  15. Talked to Boyle’s Super Mike Lafavers at lunch and asked him about the coaching search he said he didn’t really know anything other than they already had a long list of applicants and Boyle’s AD was handling everything.
