  1. While this is not a scholarship offer, Cameron Bailey from Lexington Catholic, Offensive Lineman (Center) was offered a preferred walk-on position from the University of Louisville. Not bad considering Louisville is now part of the ACC probably the 2nd best Conference next to the SEC. Opportunity to earn scholarship is there with hard work.

I don't know about the 2nd best conference the Big 10 may have something to day about that. Never the less the ACC is a strong conference. A preferred walk on means Lvle believes he is good enough to play D1 ball. They along with other schools will watch his progrss during the season and access their needs. It will just a matter of time before a D1 school offers scholarship. Good job young man.

  2. We seem to hear alot about Bailey, but the rest of the returning o-line deserves some mention.

    Dominic Castlen, rising senior

Dom's a big strong kid who can play both offensive and defensive line. He plays with good aggression and is very coachable. He continues to come into his own with more and more experience.

    Hudl

    Noah Tubridy, rising junior

Noah's an undersized but gritty kid who can play both guard and center. Very good technician and was named outstanding freshman (along with Andy Hickey) 2 years ago.

    Hudl

    Colin Carpenter, rising junior

Colin is another big strong kid and like Castlen saw time on both sides of the ball. He's agressive with good technique and drive. Named as Honorable Mention on the Herald Leader All City Team last year.

    Hudl

All are very good players. I would not be surprised to see most if not all these boys playing at the next level.

  3. He was the one doing all PAT's last season right? Yeah that is a lost for the receivers. Besides that JJ kid, how about that Hickey kid? Heard he has potential as well. So if I'm counting my eggs correctly, Lex Cath has Letton, JJ, Hickey, Thompson twins as receivers. Anyone I miss or up and coming from the frosh/ JV team?

    6'5" Jordan Hatton

  4. IMO that Bowling kid, his calling card will be on the defensive ILB spot. He has the size, instinct, toughness to plug and fill in the gaps. Those other linemen I mentioned before will fill in the other guard spot and the rest will rotate on the defensive side. Whatcha all think?

There was another lineman that played early in season but got injured and was out most of the season. He was a transfer from St. X . don't remember his name but I think he played defensive tackle. Anybody remember?

  5. Chase Bowling rotated every other series with Brown so I counted him as a starter, a little bit of cheating on my part.

In terms of the schedule everyone flips besides the first two games since they were bowl games. I believe Bowling Green will be their opponent for the Bluegrass Bowl, no clue who will be the first game

Technically you did not cheat. I believe Chase started the Madison Central game when Marty was out with injury.

  6. Clyde hit the nail on the head!! PWO's being able to attend the 1st day of practice with the scholarhip athletes is huge vs. having to, in most cases, waiting another 3-4 weeks when the general student population starts school before you can ever see a practice. In D-1, being part of the 105 players that a team can field on a roster is a tremendous advantage.

Does this allow the PWO to work out off season with the rest of the team?

  7. Nailed it.

No you missed my point. The original comment was that Catholic would be foolish for not hiring Perry. All I am saying is that Lexington Catholic doesn't have to go begging for a good coach. If he is the choice he should feel flattered. His overall record does not jump out at you. By the way I was curious so I checked. Over the last 10 years Catholic has won 102 of its 135 games or 76% average without a single losing season. If Perry is the coach he will inherit a strong program with a strong returning lineup.

  8. I believe he is saying some of us Net girls will be critical of Coach Petrino and of U of L for hiring Coach Petrino.

In the words of Hillary "what difference at this point does it make". UL knows the risks and will just have to accept the results of their actions. Which evidently they are willing to accept the risks for the rewards.

  9. We have attended several of these NUC combines. There is considerable trianing and instructions, with one on one lineman competition, and 7 on 7. You can start with local combine, then move up to top 100 regional, and then national competition. There is also a 5 star competetion and an All Amercian event. They do provide statistics and and overall evaluation of top players from the competition.

These are good one day events that give players and parents a good independent set of statistics for use for recruiting purposes.

These are not 'training camps' but combines. So there can be a lot of standing around but this is worth it for college bound or potentially college bound players.
