If the descriptions given are accurate I would say straight red as well. Intentional denial of a goal scoring opportunity, whether that is by handling the ball or pulling someone down is straight red.
Was this a home or away game for St. Henry?

Without being critical of those three players you have mentioned (because I have not seen them play), what makes them top notch? Foot skills? Size? Speed? Agility? I can't say that I am the best judge of talent because I don't feel that I understand the game well enough to say who the better players are in this area, but I have watched plenty of games and I feel that I have seen a number of players that are very good. College good? Maybe not, but still good players and fun to watch.
Size, speed, agility.....all good things to have and those three have them in my opinion but if that was the criteria the list of players would be much longer. A high skill level and ability to play at a high level is really what separates them from anyone else I've seen in N. Ky. this year. I have not seen everyone in N. Ky this year but have a pretty good idea of what other teams have. Treadway from Scott would be on this list normally but he's not really played much. Not sure that any of those three are D1 players, that's a high bar, but possibly Garbig and O'Hara.
-
Garbig and Davis-Roberts from Highlands are both good players, a couple of the best in the region. Evan O'Hara........also top notch.
Have not seen everyone play but seriously, that's about it in N. Ky. There are some good younger players on several teams but those three are probably the best three in the area.

Atkinson's goal was a ball played in by Bryce Day that the Highlands keeper misplayed and Atkinson put in the goal. Highlands first goal was off a long throw that the CCH keeper missed and Highlands punched in the net. Davis-Roberts and Garbig were probably the two best players on the field but other than that Highlands was a little outmanned I thought. A good close game but CCH had more quality up and down the lineup and had much more of the ball than Highlands. While still a little inconsistent, the Colonels are playing much better lately with a lineup of mostly juniors/sophomores. Good student section for the Colonels got under the skin of the cake eaters.........

Scores like this are why you can't judge keepers on their goals against average. If you have a bad defense in front of you......you can't stop all the shots.
-
Pretty lackluster effort. Game could have gone either way with missed chances by both teams.
-
Wow.......anyone have details
I think Scott gave up 6 earlier in the year to Cooper. Now nine to Ryle. 15 in two games.....ouch. They have a strong goalkeeper too, maybe one of the best in the area. Must be some stellar defending going on in front.

I stopped by the NCC game today to watch Montgomery County because we may play them later in tournament play and entry was only $5. A parent told me that the entry fee was increased to $6 just for the CovCath fans.
That's Ok........it was worth the extra $1 to beat their *** on their own luxurious field.

Regarding Bolded ... two of the five cards were for "delay of game" ... where players played the ball away after a blown whistle. One card for each team. I liked the referee trying to take control of that.
I've only seen three boys games this year, so I'm interested in other fans opinion of the physical style of play that both of these teams played last night. A lot of fouling by both sides, which killed the flow of play. If he wanted, I believe the center could have gone to the pocket several additional times ... on both sides.
Kudos to CovCath for winning more than their share of 50/50 balls and almost every ball in the air. They were tenacious in this regard. Kudos to NCC for not giving up after getting down 4-1. They finished out the game strong.
It's funny how people watch games and see different things. NCC was by far the rougher, more physical of these two teams. They were bigger and probably faster overall. The Colonels matched their physical play so yes, it was a physical game. Not a whole lot more physical than others that they have played but it was rough and that's really not CCH's style, especially with so many young players starting. After absorbing NCC's initial 15-20 minutes of attack, CCH methodically broke NCC down with their possession and I though superior skill level. NCC looked clearly winded from chasing the ball at the end of the first half and that showed in the second. I'm not saying that if they played again NCC couldn't win because they could, but on this night, CCH was clearly better to me. CCH is not the best team I've seen but they are improving pretty rapidly after a slow start.

Very unlikely that a boys team will get far at the state level but really, Kentucky is down as a whole this year and there is a lot of parity/mediocre teams out there so it's possible. CCH is average really this year but that is still towards the top end of N. Ky. soccer this year. Keep in mind their starting lineup is mostly sophomores and juniors. They will be very strong for the next few years but this is probably not their year.

Are you paying to see a soccer game or go to the concession stand? I believe most schools charge $6 for a HS basketball/football games. Are you saying soccer is a level below basketball or football?
Just charge what everyone else charges...........which is $5/adult. Is that so hard?
-
$6 to get into a field that was a glorified cow pasture..........with a concession stand run out of the back of a truck..........and a port-o-let with a door that would not even lock.......and not enough stands for everyone. Yes.........that's worth $1 more than anyone else charges.
-
Carry a bucket then.
I think NCC needed a bucket.........the CCH shots were raining down on them. Colonels win 4-3 but it was not that close. A couple NCC goals in the last 10 minutes vs. some subs but the Colonels handled them fairly easily. NCC is big, rough and has some speed..........not a whole lot else.

New to this forum... so maybe everyone else knows, but for whom does Cole play?
Highlands.

I've heard Schneider is done for the year but my sources may be wrong. I also heard they were pounded over the weekend? Have not seen any scores posted. They better hope they get Treadway back, without him they don't have much. Kick it up there to him and hope.
The only team I would be surprised about it NewCath. They are better than I anticipated.

Trinity is the best team I have seen play but they are nothing special. I don't know that there is a dominant team in Kentucky this year looking at statewide results. Trinity and St. X were both beaten by a pair of Ohio teams. Seems very unlikely that anyone from N. Ky will contend this year. That's a shame because it seems pretty wide open. On any given night, who knows.
-
I was not at the game but heard that the Colonels played very well. I think they will have their hands full with Garbig and David-Roberts with Highlands. If they keep those two off the scoring sheet I think they have a good chance at a win tomorrow. Hopefully CCH will be at full strength tomorrow.
-
Ryle is obviously down this year in a big way. Big senior class last year that was good and not much behind it really. They play a lot of young players I believe.
-
Have not seen but 3-4 N. Ky. teams this year but really, none of them have standout defenders that come to mind. After seeing a little more maybe that opinion will change.
-
I would say Elder is better than anyone from N. Ky. that CCH will see this year. That's not because Elder is that good (they aren't) but really because there are just not very many good teams in N. Ky. this year. Elder was a solid squad with some talented kids that waltzed past a Colonels squad that is not good defensively and also is struggling to put the ball in the net when the chance arises. Not a good combo but it is what it is. With that said, I still like their chances against most N. Ky. competition this year. Boone seems to be the clear favorite at this point to me.
-
This game is the biggest surprise of the night. Not because NCC won but because of the domination here. 5-1 really is a pretty sizeable beatdown. I think it shows the jumbled picture of N. Ky. boys soccer. Boone seems to be the favorite but time will tell.
-
Quite frankly expected more from Campbell County. Colonels dominated this game in every phase, even with their sophomore/junior laden lineup. The only reason it was close in the first half was because CCH emptied the bench about halfway through. Some growing pains for the Colonels this year but they will be a handful as their younger players mature. The first goal by sophomore Bryce Day was as good a strike as you'll see at just about any level.
-
Woes continue for the Colonels. Horrendous defensive miscues lead directly to three Trinity goals and a couple missed offensive opportunities vs. a good (but not great) Trinity team. Possibly the worst defensive team for CCH in a decade or more. I think this team will be lucky to scratch out victories against teams that they normally beat handily. We'll see Tuesday night.

Surprising result. Curious if HHS had the better of the play and just couldn't score or what happened. 3-1 seems to indicate a fairly easy win for St. Henry but score is not always an indicator of how the game went.

They also lost to Scott 1-0 I think. That takes them down a notch given the pounding that Scott has taken at the hands of some other teams but maybe Scott didn't have injuries to two of their only quality players at the time.
You can make the argument for other teams like CCH who has beaten NCC and Highlands recently.........but tied a terrible Connor team. There is no clear #1 in my opinion.
