CAL is TOUGH, thats about all I can say about that team. Mayfield hasn't faced a team of that caliber this season, CAL would easily beat the teams that Mayfield struggled with. I haven't seen lines like that on any 6A team that we have played in years, the closest was DeSales last year. Typically in HS football a team will have a big D line but it will be slow, not on this CAL team, big and fast, and Mayfield's team was no slouch in the speed dept. I haven't seen Danville play but I am picking a dogfight at the very least with CAL winning it by at least 1 td or more.

Yeah, the officiating was actually pretty on spot last night. Mayfield was beat in the trenches, Arnett was running for his life all night long. We just simply got whipped by the defense of CAL. Wright was the best athlete on the field Desales Dad, I agree, he is going to be something special, and he's only a sophmore. Great job Mayfield on getting to this point, nothing to be ashamed of and congratulations to CAL, on to play your first state championship, its a very special accomplishment.

I'm not sure who said faster, wasn't me. I don't know either way. And you're right. CAL has more than Wright. Paulson is an excellent TE and is very effective in their passing game. They have other solid "possession" receivers. The QB is not real mobile, but big and strong with a great arm. Their primary RB is a St X transfer. He's solid but not a game changer. So by no means are they a one trick pony.
Ok, then what makes you think he is the best athlete Friday night?
-
After watching more film of Wright, there is no way he is faster than Trajon Bright.
-
All I keep hearing about is Wright, the other back CAL has is decent but one player on a team is not gonna stop Mayfield. I know CAL has some decent receivers with some good height, but the running game is the bread and butter of CAL, be it from the wildcat or other formations and I like Mayfield's chances against that.

Nice!! He is a great athlete!!
-
The player was defenseless but he clearly he uses his shoulder. I don't know the rules in high school for targeting but I just hope this kid isn't a senior.
Yeah, he's a senior, thankfully he's just missing the next game so he would get to play in the championship should we make it that far.
-
Yeah, I can't see it, he leans in with his shoulder and knocks the kid down, happens all the time. You can see him (#4) throwing his hands in the air at the end.

This is the best I could find, the play is at the top, he leads with the shoulder.

So much for keeping that under wraps, lol.

Seems the Arnett suspension will hold from what I can see. How much if any will that affect the game. He's crucial to defense, but I also know someone will be fired up ready to step in for him. Coach Joe will have a plan.
In situations like this, I wouldn't want any other coach than coach Dew figuring this out.

Just do a search for christian academy louisville livesportscaster

From what I am seeing so far Wright is a better defensive player while Bright is the better offensive player. Gonna be a real treat to watch these guys!!
-
Been watching video of CAL and I agree, Wright is a great athlete.
-
Both games this year they ran and ran and ran the ball, then began to open up the passing game in the second quarter. Then they tend to go to Wright in the Wildcat frequently in the second half. He's a weapon on both sides of the ball.
Mayfield's defense will not allow a team to just run it on us, it sounds like CAL has 1 or 2 key players.
-
So what does CAL depend on offensively? Are they a balanced team or rely on pass/rush more? All I am hearing about is the passing game.
-
I agree, with this angle it clearly wasn't a catch by trajon, he was out of bounds before he had control.
-
That's it. They have a huge campus. If your routing takes you on I-265 N from I-64 you'll see the stadium from there before exiting.
Sounds similar to Kentucky Country Day's campus, very nice campus.

Ok, thanks for the info, so the address is: 700 S English Station Rd, Louisville, KY 40245?
-
Where will this game be played? Does CAL have their own field or do they share one?
-
Watch when he catches and bobbles the left foot is out of bounds simultanious with the right food. The left foot is not in the air while the right foot is dragging. In fact he came down with left foot first and then right foot in bounds. Great looking catch by a great player. But it was out of bounds.
Hey Refs called it in, right? Just like the kid got the ejection. It might of been the wrong call I don't know, but the ejection was called. It sucks cause he's a Senior, but the refs call the game just like one Mayfield fan said.
I wish Mayfield well. Losing #4 will hurt them, but it won't kill them. Mayfield is a tough team and always will be.
There will be many more battles between OC and Mayfield.
Again, Good Luck to Mayfield and their fans.
How did you see the Trajon catch? Do you have video from Mayfield's side of the field? I sat right in front of that play and it was tough to call.
There is no doubt he caught it, and I saw at least one foot in bounds.

I have only seen rain mess with Mayfield once and that was the monsoon of a game we played at Caldwell county, but that was on a grass field and it was literally a mud pit.
-
I personally enjoy road trips, love seeing other stadiums, it's like a vacation for me, lol.
-
It's all in good fun. We enjoy it. These battles with Mayfield, OCath, DeSales, and CAL are going to be going on for a long time. Good Luck to DeSales Friday.
Yeah, you guys got some shoes to fill though, the Beechwood folks were mighty fun to go back and forth with.
