Magoffin Co. will be packed for this no doubt and the Hornets have of the better teams in the region. Russell & Lovely are hard to contain. However, Sheldon Clark will bring a huge following and in my opinion play the best team ball in the region. All 5 starters can put up 20. Cards prevail in this one.

AC wins. But, this could be the upset that seems always to happen in the 58th.
-
JR Tackett will be too much for the Blackcats.
-
PCC is talented but Belfry wins this one.
-
Shelby Valley is a train wreck, ER controls tempo and shortened possions.
-
Lawrence Co. has Tim Dalton!
-
Paintsville is still a year or two away. JC has too much fire power for Paintsville to contain or keep up with.

Nice system!
I like the new tier system since the region is so difficult to actually rank 1-16. Still there will be those that argue this team(s) should tier1 or that team(s) should not in that tier. It does allow for a way though to group the better teams instead of a just a number.
That said, I agree with the teams you have in the tier 1 and the region winner comes from that group.

Very good points and I almost ranked them ahead. You could very well be correct in your reasoning. I ranked JC ahead due to margin of victory in the region and the fact Magoffin has 6 losses on the season. Magoffin and JC have a common opponent in East Ridge and the Warriors beat Magoffin while JC had East Ridge down 33 in the 3rd quarter before winning by 19. Head to head match-up's are key and Magoffin did win, but with such a close margin and at home that game was a push for me.
When I watched Magoffin play Sheldon Clark on the road earlier in the season they didnt look very good. When I saw them lose to Elliott County, again they didnt look very good and were a two man show. When I saw them play JC and SC they looked much better and more team oriented. They are hot at the moment and playing good basketball. Like you said, they might be deserving of a top ranking and I could be wrong. On a neutral floor I still like JC, but that could change as JC has a tough week ahead of them.
Your right about the rest of the region. It is difficult to rank in the middle.
I see your logic and I agree Magoffin Co. didn't look very good against Perry Central or N.Laurel in the WYMT either. Every team in the region has looked bad a one point or another this season too though. You do a good job and I enjoy reading your post since I don't get to see a lot teams outside of the 57th district. I was just trying to get a little discussion going on this weeks rankings since the others haven't gotten a lot of responses. Seemed to have worked!

I would have ranked Magoffin Co. #1 this week. Johnson Central #2 and who really knows after that!
Reasons:
-"To be the man you have to beat the man". Magoffin Co. just beat Johnson Central head to head.
-Magoffin Co. has gone 6-2 the last couple of weeks, with their only defeats to #23 N. Laurel and Perry Central (who should be ranked).
- Johnson Central lost at Magoffin Co.
-Johnson Central has gone 4-3 against not the most competitive teams.
* I do feel like Johnson Central is the most talented team in the 15th region and the favorite to advance to the State Tournament. But, I think this week Magoffin has proven they are better.

When will we know the decision that they decided to go with?
Today?

An amazing performance by Mason Blair. He missed like his first 4 shots and then went CRAZY!!!! His shooting percentage has really improved this season while most of his attempts are well beyond the College 3-Point line.
Can not believe he was taken out and not given a chance to break the record of 56pts. in a game. I know he tweeted his knee, but he hit a 3 immediately after to get to 50!!! You have to at least let him finish as HOT as he was.

Nice write up 15th.
I agree that JC is the best team in the region but it is still early in the season and March is a long way off. I still think Pikeville will be the team to challenge them, if the new coach developes them into a TEAM. They have several transfers that will have to gel with the players they have returning and that can be hard to do sometimes.
If JC can develop a consistent third scorer I like their chances though. I just don't think you can let two players(although they are scorers) take all the shots and be successful. One off night by one and the other getting locked down and the season can end quickly come March.

Wasn't directing that towards you Guru!
You have done an outstanding job the entire championship, thanks for all you do!

Really???
Johnson Central is on their way to their 1st STATE CHAMPIONSHIP ever and all theses posts about the passing game, squib kicks and the coach!
How about giving updates and POSITIVES!!!!
I would like to see Louisville schools come play JC too but they are on a different level.
-
JC also did the squib kick numerous times against Lex. Cath and that turned the momentum of that game big time.
-
FS gave up 24 points to S.Warren. Most all year!

4A State Championship Game is now being played on Sun. Dec. 4th @3:45.

Who will be his coach next season?
Jason James is the coach at Sheldon Clark and is Dylan's uncle.
-
Who will coach him next year? Does he have a brother that is tall?
Yes around 6'7 will be either a 8th grader or Freshman

I too like the Finals being played on Saturday Night, seems like it has a better atmosphere than on Sunday. With the attendance around 10K for the finals today I assume others like it the way it is. However, I don't think they will change it back. 1) It gives the teams a chance to get some rest with the game on Sunday. 2) It makes the city of Lexington a ton more money. With people staying another night in hotels, eating at restaurants, shopping ect....Either way it is still a great tournament! I just hope they leave it in Rupp and don't go to separate classes.
-
Lawrence Co. has a good chance to win this game! They are just as athletic as anyone. They score in bunches. The 5 they play can all shoot, pass and drive. They have played teams all year and WON most of them that play 8-9 players.
The problem is if they get in FOUL trouble. If they play against a TRUE post player. If they play against a Patient offensive team. If they are STAR struck by the lights of Rupp.
Time will tell, but I don't think pressure defense or fatigue will hurt them! If they can shoot at a percentage close to what they have all season from the 3-point line they will keep this game close.
