  1. Rocket, you are quoting Tilghmanprides' ----observations and facts--- as excuses.

PT played flat and had no answer for Caldwells passing game- check the stats

PT had injuries- leading rusher and tackler out--fact

Out coached -must of been, also that is a compliment to Barnes

Also we both said Caldwell was a better team in that game, they scored more points and that is the proof.

I don't see Caldwell fans on here trying to make your arguments so I'm not sure where you are going with this. If you would like to discuss anything that happened during the game I would be happy to discuss that. Other issues should just go on Facebook.

  2. Just seems like the PT folks are wanting to give due credit. Lots of excuses.

I don't see anywhere PT fans are giving any excuses, Caldwell was the better team.

They scored more points, and therefore won the ball game.

There are only two PT posters on this thread so far, so please quote and show me where we were making excuses so that I can understand.

  3. A couple of different factors coming in to play on this one:

    1) A possibility of rain Friday could slow the field down

    2) Injuries- are both going to be at full strength?

PT has been playing very good as well as Caldwell as of late. Caldwells passing game could give the PT defense a test, but a wet field could dramatically reel that in.

Can Caldwell stop the run, PT can come at you with 6 or so different backs, and their passing game is taking baby steps at improvement.

Will everyone be healthy on both sides?

I guess we will see Friday.

  4. Was this the same qb some Mayfield fans were not happy with?

Because if so we will take him.

Coach Joe had the Cards ready and quite simply took what the PT defense gave him for the first 3 quarters by hitting 8 yard passes while the cbs were playing 12 yards deep. Add to that Stinson was hitting his targets about 2 seconds after the ball was snapped which prevented our D from from getting any pressure on him.

Beyond the 3rd quarter Mayfield's time of posession really wore PT down, which in turn effected their ability on both sides of the ball.

PT has shown some promise, but still has some issues to work on, they have to improve the pass game in order to balance the offense, and the defensive secondary will have to tighten up and figure out what happened to them in this game.

  5. dt, You have valid points that beating a bad McCracken team doesn't hold a lot of water, but PT did it with great efficiency, and it would appear that their ground game is pretty salty.

I don't remember last year looking as well for PT, we were just excited to have a established coach taking over, but certainly we were not ready for Mayfield.

As for this year, here is my prediction of how it goes:

I think PT will have a solid performance with their ground game, however we know that running alone will not put a spread in the points, I have seen that happen too many times in Mayfield games. In this last 12 year losing streak with Mayfield, PT has been close several times in the 3rd quarter but Morris is the best in the business at making adjustments and if he spies a chink in your armor he will put a 3 td spot on you in the blink of an eye.

So if PT keeps it close on the coat tails of the running game alone, I predict Mayfield will pull away late with a couple of big plays.

If however PT keeps it close on the ground, and can hit a couple of big passes, maybe then they get the W.

I think their running game is pretty good, but they really have not been tested yet, so me, you, and no one else really knows for sure what they will do. We are just old men typing on a keyboard- We shall see tonight!

  6. Purple88, thanks for the words of encouragement. Of course it is the players that need that, not me.

But what I was saying is what few PT fans that hang around here constantly face the boo birds that love to put us down because if we don't win a state championship we are a "disappointment" or a "let down".

The only thing disappointing I have seen the last 10 years at PT is the upper level leadership. And that doesn't necessarily mean the coach. Even coach Wyatt had people above him pulling strings that wouldn't allow him to run the program the way he saw fit.

The kids still believe in the BIG BLUE and play their hearts out, which is why I always have and always will continue to support the players.

I grew up in Paducah, played at Paducah, and will always support PT; no bad stretch will change my mind on that.

PT is still one of top winningest teams in KY and the nation, that doesn't happen overnight or in a 10 year time frame.

Tilghman will survive this bump in the road, they just have to have the right captain to steer the ship in a straight course.

  7. PT could have a shot, but they are going to have to have their best week of practice.

The run game is intact and will be ok, but as the UC game proves you'll have a hard time beating Mayfield being one-dimensional.

The Liberty game was good for the 1st half when they stuck to the wishbone, but the 2nd half amounted to passing practice, which wasn't very sharp.

PT will have to clean that up this week in order to get past the Cards.

    PT 28-27

  8. Fulton City, with a enrollment of 45 boys, is currently is down to 9 eligible players listed on their roster. Wpsd sports out of Paducah recently did a piece on them and why they still play while possibly facing forfeits every game this season. The players and coach say simply they do it because "they love the game". What a tough situation these young men face, but I bet those 9 would be a good addition to anyones team.

Fulton City moving forward despite low numbers
