Not hard to do When you recruit out of Cincinnati as well as local fitness clubs. I have followed Newport teams the past 6 yrs since my son WHO is a Sr was in 4th grade. Maybe 5% of the kids on their roster have come up in the Newport system.

Acutally 6 out of 12 or 13 man roster is more than more than 5% . Turner, Person, Covington, Price, Witherspoon, Commodore, oh Yeah and (Lil Snap been here since the six grade) (Garland and Gilkey are two Senior who Quit the team) or more like pushed away from the team.

The Short Brothers, Came over the summer during 2011 last year Wright and Parker came over the summer 2012 along with D.Jospeh

WHile all of the above is true it has ZERO to do with the point of this thread. We all know Holmes is good.

When someone brought up the strength of Schedule is when you should have wrote this:laugh: I wa simply chiming in on that particular comment. My statment was going to with what someone was refering to the Bulldogs having a lesser schedule, with that said it does have a point in this thread in my opinion.

Let me use an extreme example to show where you are not following Showtime's point.

 

It's 2011/12.

 

Let's say the UK Wildcats played in the Ivy League.

 

Let's say that Duke played a few Ivy league teams in addition to big boy basketball in the ACC.

 

The fact that UK could beat Duke doesn't preclude us saying that Duke plays a toucher schedule.

 

It just means that they are better than Duke.

 

The fact that now Holmes beat CCH and let's say they beat NCC next week does NOT mean that those other two haven't played a tougher schedule.

Regardless of the teams difference in schedule, no matters whos is stronger and whos is weaker, the only thing that matter is that when the two repected schools face off, is that has the teams schedule prepared them for the oppent that they are facing as well as the final outcome of the game. It doesnt matter who as the stronger or lesser schedule. What matter is has that teams schedule prepared them. On any given day anyone can be beat. And there is only one common denominatior and that is when the ball is tip up between the two teams Who is better in those 32 mins.

Reagardless what your thought is of HOLMES Schedule you cant take away what those young boys have accomplished this season. The fact remains is they are the only undefeated school in the Commonweath and until someone beats them you cant take that away.

May I ask, exactly what team has a brutal schedule in the 9th outside of CCH, HC, NCC? Not even Holmes has a tough schedule.

100 percent true. I will add that this region is down in talent across the board.

As much as kids in this area play AAU you would think we would see more of a treand in better basketball Talent.

And I've heard from a couple AAU coaches that there may be help on the way next year.

 

On the flip side, I've heard Ethan Snapp will be going to Boone if/when Moss comes back.

I hear the same thing but I also hear that the people in the Newport community will be gald to see that happen as long as it gets the Dad outta of town.

Actually, that is not a true statement: Until Newport gets a more consistant program. It will not do any good for them to seed. They are better relying on the luck of the draw. They will alway finish 2 or 3 in that district. More than likely finish 3 case in point if you take away the last 4 season 3 of which they finished second they have never been able to beat highlands. It just so happens that highlands basketball in bad at this moments so they have been losing to Newport. Newport will always have to go through either highlands and NewCath unless they can finish number 1 in the district standings. Therefore it will not do Newport justice to seed.

Officating could be one of the Most stressful jobs every created and imaging for a min a gym full of people hating you for not making or making a call against the teams. Although I will agree that officating is bad every where not only in nothern ky or the 9th region. I will sulute the men in the tux pants and strips, for there job is not easy. But for those ref that make a special effort to call a good game without a hidden agenda or a Bias outlook I thank you. There is only about handful that are not just doing it for the quick check and quick to control the game for the short time as hot shot ref who is power happy, them ref wont last to long.

You must have not seen Stephon Greene at Holmes High School. He is without a doubt better than half that list.
