I don't know about Great Crossing or Scott Co. (I'm pretty sure Scott has 3 dedicated teams with the type of program Coach runs) but Douglass does have 3 dedicated teams but were not asked to play in this league. They would have been willing to play their dedicated freshman only team vs. the teams but were not ask to participate.

No Lexington freshman team would schedule Douglass.

    The Douglass freshman schedule:

    Trintiy

    Bullitt East

    Corbin

    St. X

    Boyle Co.

    Madison Cent.

    Great Crossing

    The Douglass JV schedule:

    Scott Co. (home and home)

    Bryan Station (home and home)

    Corbin

    Madison Cent.

    Great Crossing

    Looking for 2 more teams

That is not true at all. Bryan Station is definitely on their schedule. 10/17 at Douglass

How will the Defenders be in the trenches on both sides of the ball?

This will be our biggest(size) group of OL/DL we have had at Station since I got here. We will weigh +50lbs more per player. More likely a 280 lb average instead of the 220lb average we have played with recently. We are returning the center and two guards.

Any update on this hirik process? I have heard this weekend that Phillip Hawkins name is being thrown around as possible candidate.

I can personally assure you, this is not correct. I am doing fine where I am.

Coach Hawk is one of the best around. I’m sure this will be a very solid Defender squad. My question is who will be the new QB?

More than likely, Sr. Jaxson Branham. He is a very talented kid with a big arm and has a very high football IQ. He has been in the program and now gets his shot. He has been very impressive in JV games and the 8 varsity games he played in this year. Very good, but different from Cutwright. He is the perfect example of a kid who stuck it out behind an older QB. He has gained a lot of experience in the last 3 years and has had to face a pretty good defense every day at practice. I am excited about handing him the keys.

What makes it a good job?

Ability to have a winning record every year?

Potential to win a state title regularly?

    School academics?

    School culture?

I think this is a good discussion. What we see as current good jobs have potentially been turned into them. Speaking from my personal experience, many may have not considered Bryan Station a great place to be five years ago. The numbers were very low, wins were tough to come by, facilities were below average and some would say there was no support. I believe as a coach, you can make your place a good job. Each year since I have been at Station, opportunities at other schools have presented themselves and each year I remind myself that where I am is my “best job”. As the years have gone by, the list of programs that I consider to be better gets shorter. Here is what I believe makes Bryan Station a great place to work.

    1. Admin Support- The admin understand that athletics can have a positive impact on our players. Support of the program comes easy when they see the impact on students.(players, band, cheerleaders and student body)

    2. Athletes walking the hallways - BS has an unbelievable amount of talent walking the halls, our most notable player walked the halls for two years before being convinced to play football. Now he is a NFL Hall if Famer (D Dawson)

    3. Alumni and Community support- Our alumni have so much pride in the school it makes for a great environment on Friday nights and allows for us to find support when we need it financially.

    4. Culture- Our culture has been recreated in the last four years. It includes high academic effort, accountability, hard work and commitment and amazing assistant coaches.

    5. Winning- Our turnaround is directly related to the previous 4 points. Everyone involved has made Station a “good job”

I agree there are many good jobs out there, but some have been made good jobs because of the work and effort of all involved. Station is my “Good Job”

    North Oldham DC...? Franklin

Ashton Bailey OC for Western Hills this year and Shelby alumn

Matt Axline former Oline coach under Coach Shipley and Shelby alumn

Josh Smith former Oline coach under Coach Shipley and believe he coached at Frankfort

Also heard that former Western Hills head coach and current Bryan Station DC Don Miller has shown interest, don't know if he has applied.

Supposedly they have had 10-12 applicants, post closes today, so interviews should start to happen soon.

Don is the LB coach and Spec Teams Co at Bryan Station. JT Haskins Sr is DC.

The Raider Sports Network just posted this.  I think it will be interesting to see if Station can contain Verax.

In 3 years of football, to date, Trenton Cutwright has only played 18 full games (24 others played 1-2 quarters because of Running clocks).

    5943 passing 62 TDs

    1600 rushing 20 TDs

No telling what they could have been. I like our guy too!

  8. I think you might be to hard on them over the Station game. Last year they were 11-2 and I am sure, learning from my own experiences here, people were not lining up to play them. We wanted a high quality team to play and  that’s what they are. None of us know, when we get into new contracts what will might be in those next two years. Heck, my first go at the new cycle happened before my first season. It was easy to get games because of where this program was. I am certain some of the teams we played year two, were not exactly happy having us on their schedule because they saw a 10 win team. Central Hardin has some very good players and may even find themselves into the regional final this year. Just never know. The roles could very well be reversed when we go there next season. Clearly coach does not dodge opponents.

  9. RPI or not, the teams that show up in Regional and Semi final games are the ones that have won their way through. Our RPI will go down the next couple weeks, even with wins. I think by the beginning of playoffs, this gets shaked out. We have been fortunate enough the be in the top 4 or 5 in RPI each year. We also make sure we play the best schedule we can. A team that gets beat 36-3 does not necessarily mean they will not get better. The 36-3 loss is my best friend as a coach. Exposes our issues and allows us to fix things. Ultimately you have to beat the teams that present themselves in November. RPI buys you a 3rd and 4th round home game. By then, it shouldn’t matter. Ask Bullitt East.

GRC is head and shoulders better than Montgomery and Madison Central—like not even a question. I encourage you to watch them play.

And I seriously believe they will have a punchers chance this week and against Bryan Station.

They may not win those games, but I can assure you they will have a shot. They are a top-half team in 5A; and in my opinion that is no paper tiger.

    Except they are in 6A.

  11. The game was moved to Saturday by the school board. They believe it will be easier to manage the crowd better during daylight. That game will still have a large crowd. It will be the only game in town and will draw. Regardless, the coaches did not have any input in this decision. If by chance we play each other later in playoffs, that game would be played on Saturday as well.
