  1. Murray did plenty to lose this game, especially in the closing minute. (shot selection, lack of rebounding, turnovers, extraaaaa long pass, etc.) But I will join those bashing the refs for a moment. Did anyone else see what I thought was a phantom foul earlier while TSU was shooting a 3 pointer and then goes to the line and hits them? To me that was a big point in the game and I just did not see the foul even on the replay.

  2. Unfortunately for BCS detractors and playoff proponents, the BCS got it right again. As long as the BCS keeps putting the right two teams in the title game, nothing is going to change.

You are right the BCS got it right. I do not see how anyone can argue that fact and here is why. BCS final rankings = 1 LSU 2 Bama, 3 OSU, Harris poll is the same, Coaches poll is the same, AND the AP poll is the same. If there were descrepencies then I could see an arguement, but there are not.

As far as a playoff I don't see the schools going for it. Right now 70 teams of 120 get to play in the post season. That would have to be drastically changed. Then you could only use the conferecne champions, since that is why many people are not happy with the Bama thing. So many more reasons and arguements to bring up, but won't do that now.

If you want to be mad and fairness then discuss Bosie State getting the shaft and Virginia Tech gettign to the Sugar Bowl.

  3. I have been one of those calling for Joker to go. BUT, I do believe this one win gives cause to give him one more year to see how things play out. They cam in with a gameplan today and exucuted it well. They were able to UT with a WR at QB. That is either good or bad, but the results are great. UT has been down the last few years or so and UK had much better teams then, but they pulled it out today. I don't hold too much faith in next year's success, but I do believe this has earned him one more try.

  4. Hard to say that they are a "program on the rise." If they would have played the 6A schedule, their win total would have been much less. Their win totals aren't that different from the previous years either, so it doesn't show imporvement (maybe consistency). They will have to actually play Dixie and SK to prove they are better.

  5. Dave Campbell is not only a great coach, he is a great man. I wouldn't blame any school for going after him but I don't think he would take the Dixie job. In the past, you would be right, a huge step up in talent but I don't think that will be the case in the future. Watch over the next couple of years what Coach Campbell had built at Scott. I think Scott could very well be the best football team in the Kenton County School District as soon as next season.

To prove that Scott will need to actually play both Dixie and Simon Kenton.

  6. We like to say that rules are balck and white / cut and dry. But they are not. Many rules are open to the interpretaion of the official. For instance; pass interference has a rule to go by, but it is up to the determination of the official if he believes it fits or not. The same can be said for unsportsmanlike conduct, holding, etc. This is one of those cases that (in my opinion) could have been interpreted to be a good no call.

  7. Please clarify???? What is the difference? Sounds like some double standards. If Coach Lucas was still coaching this team and they have double digit turnovers and lose to Owen County, they would call for his head. However, new coaches, same results, and yet its ok? Just confused.

I hate that people don't remember that there were some good teams and some success while Lucas was with the Juggs. He did have them playing on Thanksgiving weekend and one win away from a state title game.

  8. I guess I'm in the minority, but I don't see how this is a "huge scandel involving KHSAA officials," as the thread title suggests. Talk about hyperbole.

Two officials were arrested for serious offense(s). How is that a scandel? It's two guys selling drugs, getting caught and going to jail. Happens every day everywhere. It's two guys out of how many officials that are sanctioned by the KHSAA?

And, I know 30 to 40 officials were banned from officiating this year, after the background check for past offenses. But again, that's 30 to 40 out of a pool of how many officials? 1,000 or 2,000. I honestly don't know. But I'd bet it's like five percent of the total number of officials in the state, mayber lower.

A scandal to me would have been something like officials conspiring to fix games, betting on games, or blackballing certain coaches or players they dislike. This is simply a couple of people who committed crimes and are going to pay, or have committed crimes and are now paying. Always going to be a percentage of people in society who do this.

It is somewhat scadalous if you crunch some numbers. Let's say 40 are not supposed to be working with kids and they do 20 games. That is 800 games 2 teams at each game is now 1,600 schools. Now multiply only 12 players per school and that is 19,200 students that were affected. That does not count cheerleaders and other teams that might have played that night and students that may have attended. Now think about who pays the refs...they school systems. These systems have board policies that do not allow adults to work with kids unless there is a background check. Now they have paid them, techniquely not followed board policy and can now, if someone wants to go there, be held liable in some way. Yes it is a stretch but these things happen every day. When 40 turns into around 20,000 there is a bit of scandal that can be mentioned.
