  1. I apologize for being a little sensitive, however, our coach started the practice season with acute renal nephrosis that went into complete renal failure. This resulted in several days in the hospital followed by about 10 weeks of dialysis three times weekly. The prognosis was guarded on whether he would ever be off dialysis. For weeks, this man came to practice legs swelled and feeling miserable, just to be with the players and help out the best that he could. This continued for a few games into the season, when his kidneys healed and started functioning again. He has been thru a lot so I'm not in much of a mood to listen to someone question my veRY dedicated coach.

To have limited his comments to the excellent play of BOYLE and their players would have been fine, but to add untruths and to then use them against my coach was unnecessary. My son was one of the players involved in the substitution pattern so I knew exactly when the starters came out and the subs came in.

I did not ask BLACK AND GOLD to pull up game footage, he brought it up and called me ignorant in my post. I knew what BLACK AND GOLD said was false but I did go back and relook at the game film to make sure I had the FACTS straight. I even verified with my son.

Yes, I did watch the game. BOYLE is an excellent team and program. My son was complimentary of the BOYLE team. Russell has played Boyle twice in the last 4 yrs and I have always had high regards for Boyle and their fans until the comments made by Country ( that were untrue) that were used to smear our coach. Not 8/11 or 7/11 starters were in at the end of the game on defense. The actual number would be a tremendous surprise to most people who have followed this thread. MY COACH WAS WRONGLY CALLED OUT.

  2. Your post shows so much ignorance. The radio said it, we said and it was obvious that the Lakers starters were still there. Do I need to pull the first play and the last play of the game to show you the difference of numbers or what is so hard to understand.

Update: I went through and the Starters for the Russell D were about 7/11 of the final guys on the field for the final defensive play.

Update: I went through and the Starters for the Russell O were about 8/11 of the final guys on the field for their final offensive play

I assume that you went by numbers to come up with your above statistics. Could you please list the starting 11 on defense for Russell County. Then could you please list the players in the game at the end. I HAVE THEM AND THE VIDEO . I will give you time to post them. I DO HAVE THE ACCURATE NAMES AND NUMBERS AND THE VIDEO FOR THE DEFENSE At THE START AND END OF THE GAME. Everything stated above is false and I will defend my coach and the truth.

  3. Very well guys, I was always under the impression that the truth was of most importance. I really had Boyle fans categorized as reputable and classy and thought this forum was used by individuals that were of higher class. Opinion and outright lies win out. Russell County was demolished on the field but I am proud of how we win and lose.

  4. As PP said earlier it was a running clock with 4 mins to go in the 2nd quarter. Boyle stopped trying to score then and took a knee twice deep in Russell Co territory before half. Boyle's defense played the first series after halftime then the JV's and freshmen played out the rest of the game both ways. The Russell C. coach kept his starters in for the remainder of the game. Why wouldn't at least let your reserves play some in the last game of the season? Maybe his job is on the line and he was trying to save face with his varsity scoring against Boyle's freshmen.

Absolutely not true on any of the things said about Russell County.

  5. Structure and discipline are extremely important in young men's life. Does football help young men learn how to deal with life problems and how to work together to solve difficulties ? Are present day high school football players less likely to experiment with, and use illicit drugs? Can we believe NFL statements that NFL players are statistically less likely to be involved in crimes then the average population? Does football vastly help a young teenage boy deal with the challenges of life's? Those are the answers each and every parent must struggle with.

I have always viewed the problem with football as being those kids and parents who see the "big hit" as the best and greatest part of the game. The applause and accolades for that "hit" instead of a "good tackle" has been the cause of a lot of the problems in present day football. My friend in church this past Sunday told another parent that his son had endured 3 broken bones, 1 concussion and another injury that I can't recall. He then smiled and said, "not one of those occurred in four years of high school football, all from either basketball or baseball".

I am an ignorant dad, but my answer has always been to teach my son that football is the ultimate "team sport". Play football the right way, work hard, play hard and the benefits far outweigh the risks. It scares me and I pray hard for any kid when he is laying on the field but I worry more for young people with nothing to do and no discipline in their lives looking for something to create a little excitement in their young lives. I understand both sides. Just don't forget to pray hard for your kids regardless of what one decides about football.
