Who didn’t play against Fleming when they played East Carter?
Fleming losing their best 2 players early in the game against Lloyd was huge. Not saying they were going to beat Lloyd with them but it certainly changed the game.
-
Once Johnson (2) and Trent (20) left the game for Fleming, it was over. Not saying it wouldn’t have ended similarly, but it was 7-7 when Johnson left the game and 13-7 when Trent left.
Congratulations to Lloyd. They have a heckuva team!- 1

Fleming came out hot and had a 40-0 lead at the half. Their defense held Nicholas County to 9 yards in the half. The second half was mainly younger kids. Fleming went to the air more in this game and showed they are more than just the Austin Trent show.

Was FC expected to win this? Congrats on the win.
I think most would have picked Henry Clay purely on the school size difference. Massey ratings had Henry Clay with an 87% chance of winning.

Fleming scores in the 1st and 3rd quarter and Greenup scored in the second. A defensive battle most of the way but Fleming did move the ball a little better. Fleming won the JV quarter 8-0.

Seems like a soft schedule for a team returning a bunch.
Russell, Lewis, West Carter, East Carter and Bath are district games. They are in the EKC which could explain some of the games such as Nicholas, Rowan and Greenup. Nicholas and Rowan are also border games like Mason County.
On a side note, I see that they are looking for a game as I hear Rockcastle has decided to play someone else.

The Panthers will return several starters next season (8 offensive starters and 7 defensive starters). They should have a solid season in their new district with what they return.
Key returners:
Qb-Nate Ruark (AD All-Area) 1402 yards passing and 16 Td's
Rb/Lb-Austin Trent (AD All-Area and District POY) 1788 yards rushing and 19 Td's; 111 tackles on defense
Wr/Db- Landon Johnson (AD All-Area) 728 yards receiving and 8 Td's; 53 tackles and 4 interceptions on defense
Te/De- Isaac Frye (AD All-Area) 91 tackles, 14 TFL and 6 sacks on defense
DT- Aiden Johnson (AD All-Area) 109 tackles, 16 TFL and 5.5 sacks on defense

This is an interesting take.
What coach chasing talent takes the Newport job after they won 4 games in 3 years or the Mason County job after they won 12 games in 3 years?
How would a coach have known or even thought these teams had a crop of talent based on those records?
While I do feel Coach Wynn has done a great job at Mason County, everyone in this area knew they were going to be loaded the past 2 seasons. Most of this years seniors started as sophomores and some even as freshman. Coach Thomas was definitely building for the future his last season there.
Coach Wynn did get those guys to buy into his systems and play at a top level. He also did a great job of getting kids out that hadn't been out before.
So, don't take this in any way as a knock on Coach Wynn. I am just stating that he did inherit a lot of talent at Mason County.

I see A lot of teams that Fleming potentially matches up well with. How good are the panthers expected to be this season? If you had to guess a record right now pick-six what would that be?
I won’t predict a record, just not my thing, but they should be competitive with their schedule. They only lost 6 seniors from last year’s team (but they were all contributors). The big story will be how fast their new Qb comes along.

Lincoln HC stipend is almost double Mercer?
I couldn't find Lincoln's on their website but if Mercer's stipend is truly $6000 then a lot of districts are going to almost double that.

Fleming County has 2 periods of it that is open to any student, not just athletes.

I don't know If they were missing any or not But Russell is Considered by Many to Be the 2nd best team in the 16th right now behind only Ashland.
Not trying to take anything away from Russell at all. Just stating that I know several of Mason’s players were playing football last night.
-
I would think that Mason was missing several kids unless they played the football game last night and then came today.

What was the thought process? Up by 20 with roughly 4 minutes left. A lot of coaches would have punted. Did you just feel like you needed the points for the rpi?
RPI does not take points scored into its equation.

Good question!!!
We caught it immediately that they were not wearing dark uniforms. They were off-white, or light grey perhaps, but definitely not "Dark, Contrasting."
Not Paris admins finest hour, they also had to seek volunteers to serve as chain gang just prior to kick-off.
I think they are a light gray. They had to recruit a chain gang when we played there this year also. It ended up being a split crew, 2 of our fans and 2 of theirs.

Fleming County goes to Mason and wins their ninth in a row over the Royals. Very hard fought ballgame. Fleming County now has the upperhand for home field in the playoffs.

Sometimes it's hard not to compare scores. West dropped its opener to Rowan County, while Raceland worked the Vikings over pretty good in Week 3. Having Jackson Bond back is a major plus for the Comets, but I'm picking the Rams in a competitive game.
East had also beaten Rowan and then West beat East. It really is hard to compare scores sometimes.

I assume Fleming and Mason will be the main two in the hunt in that District unless something has changed.
Should be but you never know with high school kids!

I agree. A lot changes when you add linemen and also the possibility of running the ball. A lot of times, not everyone plays either or often times, backups get a lot of reps as well, which is needed, where they wouldn't necessarily in a regular season game. 7v7, in my opinion, helps with timing and also some team bonding....that's about it.
I agree with this 100%. 7 on 7 is good for team bonding, timing and getting reps against kids that are normally better than your 1's see in practice. It's a chance to see kids compete and have fun. But, it really has no indication on how successful your team will be with pads on.

How good will Fleming be this year? Will they be able to compete with Russell or Ashland when the time comes for the playoffs?
To early to tell about that! Plus, I don’t really put a lot of stock in 7 on 7’s.

Russell won Raceland's 7v7, beating the host Rams in the semifinals and West Carter for the championship.
They bounced back well after Fleming County beat them. Maybe woke them up! They had a good looking group of athletes.

I think the 8-27 game is Jenkins not Greenup County.
-
It’s not just one game. It could potentially lead to several long trips if you win. In the current system, you are guaranteed short drives for the first 2 rounds.
Also, with football teams you typically require more buses than other sports. Especially if the COVID rules do not change. Most schools had to double the number of buses they normally used this year.

Lloyd Memorial at East Carter Predictions/Updates
in KY Football (High School)
Posted
East has the best overall team in district 6. They have the best chance of any of the teams of beating Lloyd but it will still be a huge challenge. Lloyd is, overall, way more athletic and has more team speed. They can strike quick. In order for East to win, they will have to slow the game down and score every opportunity they get. They will need some of those time consuming drives they are known for this year. They have the horses on the oline to do it.
