  1. This is nothing but hearsay, but you know how that goes. I laughed at loud at the idea that Happy Osborne would even think about coming to Montgomery County much less come and you see where that got me. The hearsay was that Jay Bordas was getting the job and Chris Gillespie was coming with him. Gillespie and Monroe together!

Between Gillispie and Monroe Im not sure if there will be enough shots to go around.

  2. Someone tell me why Wise would be a good fit for Pendleton?

    Few thoughts

    1. Lives in Scott County and is not planning on moving. Drive will eventually get old.

    2. Wise is wants a prime time job. Not sure Pendleton is that job.

    3. Points 1 & 2 make me think he would not be a long term solution.

Now maybe Pendleton doesnt care about that. WIse is a good coach and Pendleton would be lucky to get him. Just not sure how long he would stay.

Falmouth isnt any further than it was to Mt. Sterling from Georgetown. Wondering what about the other coaches in the running make you feel that they could be long term?

  3. It does sound like a bad situation. Montgomery County blew it when Phil Rison wasn"t made the superintendent. Many very good Coaches and administrators have been let go by the new administration unfortunately. But people that are close to the basketball situation seem to know that things were done for surprisingly the right reasons with Basketball. Happy will get them back on track. Happy will run a first class program!

A lot of the kids that play basketball at MC also play other sports. I know they have several baseball players, soccer, AAU, etc. Now, that is NO excuse not to attend, but as MCraycraft stated, where are the parents in this equation and why didnt they make their kids go?

I truly do not think the lack of numbers was anything against Wise, I think it was more of playes and parents upset with the entire situation and the way the school as a whole has been ran.

  4. Osborne’s top assistant at Montgomery County will be former Indians’ star Billy Ray Fawns, who played for Osborne at Georgetown.

I think Billy Ray will serve more as the top advisor more so than the top assistant. Billy Ray runs the local water company and has many duties that accompany that job, not to mention two young kids that are involved with activities of their own. Billy Ray will be at the practices as much as he can, but he understands his priorities.

  5. I think since the topic is related to coaching, it is clear that Montgomery got the better hire. Happy is a proven leader and winner. I think he is the fastest coach to reach 100 wins AT ANY LEVEL along with many other coaching accolades. We will just have to wait and see how this translates to high school basketball. Harden may get to that point one day, but as for today, Montgomery got the better deal.

  6. I'm going to go out on a big limb here and guess that he probably isn't going to be teaching any classes. :D

Watch out, Happy may know some Geometry now. I could see his class now, relating angles to backdoor cuts and screens and finding the arch needed for a perfect three point jump shot. He is a product (sort of ) of Georgetown College and they have a repuation of producing top notch teachers in KY!

  7. With some solid returners @ Dunbar any chance that Scott Hundley would take it? Didn't he go to school @ Dunbar? I would think that Woodford will be upping his $ a bit after this season!

Really dont think Hundley would leave Woodford for Dunbar, I think he has it better at Woodford.

  8. The AD states in this weeks Advocate, "if everything goes well applications for the position will be in this week and next and that they"ll have a new coach in place by sometime in mid-April."

How can you accept applications but the job is not posted?

Also in the article is states that the AD had no idea Wise was going to resign and just found the letter of resignation on his desk when he came into work in the morning. Conflicting stories between coach and AD. Interesting????

  9. Wow if that is how a teacher/admin feels about kids, just as glad they don't make a commitment to the community

I truly dont think its an issue of whether a teacher/adminstrator likes the kids/community, but it is nice when you dont have to worry about going to Applebee's, having a drink, running into students and parents, and then worrying about students talking about seeing teachers drinking at the bar and having silly rumors arise. Plus its not reasonable to up and move every time you switch schools.

  10. I understand Wilson has been looking since he took the MC job, never moved to Mt Sterling, which speaks for his committment, so this administration has nothing to do with him leaving

I dont think moving has much to do with committment, many teachers, administrators, etc choose not to live in the same community in which they teach for a variety of reasons (they would much rather not run into their students at Wal-Mart, Applebees, etc.)

  11. I'm a little shock this conversation has not centered more on the players. High school sports should be about the kids and only the kids. Know very little about MC, but feel for the current players, especially Prewitt. He seems to be a great kid and has gotten a raw deal from the administration. Best of luck to him.

Your comment is sooooooooo correct. It should be about the players and its not and that is why this thread is getting th e reaction it is. This decision was not made for the kids, it was made for the people in high places, I truly do not feel they have ANY of the kids interest at heart, just thier own!
