  1. My guess is that Jim agrees with you.

I'll parse my words and just say that this team lacked the right talent.

It also proves what I've said for many years. Pre-season coaches polls are worthless and done with very little thought.

I couldn't agree more. I have seen Conner 4X this year and each time I walked away thinking how was this team #1 preseason. Preseason polls are worthless and often times most of the polling is done off of who is returning for a team from the previous year. That does not mean that they got any better.

  2. Please.

This was one of the best officiated games I've seen all year, regardless of who won and who lost. There were questionable calls against both teams, I agree, but none that were big enough to impact the game's outcome. And if I remember correctly, up until late in the game when B'wood had to start fouling, Holmes had more fouls called on them.

Don't get me wrong - I was not implying that the referees determined the outcome of the game. I think that the refs did not determine the outcome but I was courtside and really thought Holmes got a few calls late. Great game for both teams - I am not taking that away from them.

  3. CCH played the game they were supposed to play. Hard nosed man-to-man defense, dominance inside offensively and controlling the ball. They did these things and got a great game from Drew Baker. I kept waiting for HC to mount a challenge in the 1st half and it never came. They made the game moderately interesting in the 2nd half but the game was really never in doubt. CCH has been playing well for the past 2 weeks so I wouldn't think anyone would really want them in the regional 1st round.

  4. I kept waiting for Holmes to go on a big run to close BW out earlier than they did. They just couldn't shake BW and if it wasn't for a few questionable calls at the end that favored Holmes this game could have gone the other way. Holmes is more athletic but BW played a great game and deserves a lot of credit for hanging in until the end.

  5. Cov Cath has the best cheering section and most engaging in high school sports. Not only are they great but they engage the opponents coaches, players and cheering section with class. I have spoken to people in Lexington and each year they wish Cov Cath would make the Sweet 16 just for the cheering section. They are fun to watch, great themes and clever.

  6. I'll just say this.

If you are a parent and have an issue with the head coach go talk to the principal. Anonymous emails are for cowards.

From my understanding issues have been boiling at CCH for the past 5 years or more. It includes the departure of assistant coaches, those coaches expressing publicly everything that is wrong with the program and allowing some kids to publicly disrepect the head coach and nothing is ever done to correct the issue or discipline the student.

  7. I received the email and believe that while many of you believe that it was a bashing session on Listerman I viewed it that with all of the turmoil currently with this team that a parent has great concerns that the season is getting away from the team. Maybe I was looking at it with optimism but it didn't kill Listerman like many of you are stating. I also don't agree with the heated arguments between the coach and his players - they are simply rumors. I think this should be left alone and let the CCH Colonels finish the year on a high note.

  8. This was a great game tonight between two very quality teams. Congrats to Dixie on a big win against a CCH team that had redemption on their minds from the last meeting between these two teams. I appreciate your comments Clyde and agree with most, however the starting 5 for Dixie is better than the starting 5 for CCH. That is why Dixie can get away with a short bench because quite frankly they are not very deep. There were a lot of substitutions tonight because CCH has a deeper bench. You are actually agreeing with me on the bench development because I have been saying since December that CCH did not have to go to a 6 man rotation - which Hudepohl was left out of. I really thought that Cleves, Schult, Thelen and Baker looked solid tonight. I hope to see Dixie again in the regionals. I also thought that the entire CCH team showed a lot of enthusiasm, which has been missing.

  9. Your understanding, in general is correct, however with the primary focus on scoring from Thelen and Connelly the guards have not had the opportunity to put up gaudy numbers. Schult is not going to give the team any more points at the 2 guard position that they have gotten from Reidinger, Hudepohl or Cleves. I will not deny that Schult should have been receiving more playing time, but that should be in the place of Baker who hasn't played well since early in the season. I love Schult's game but he is not a shooting guard. The front line has been the primary scorers the entire year - nothing is different now from the very first game.

  10. Only 4 minutes playing time last night and he and other guards are being blamed for the losses going back to December. This problem has been going on since they returned from the Lexington Catholic Tournament. We've seen this same thing happen time after time under this coaching staff. CCH starts to lose, coach has to blame someone. Looks like this senior leader -who has given 110% to this team - has turned into the scape goat.

  11. I couldn't agree more kinglouie. The CCH guards have been the scape goats the whole season, of course when things are going bad. I said it a month ago that CCH has not developed anyone on their bench for games like this and that Listerman going to a short bench in December was going to kill them. It has and if changes aren't made they will not beat HC in two weeks.
