  1. After reading your post from the Clark/Oldham prediction thread below:

Obviously drinking the Kool Aid. Game will be MUCH closer than that. OC has good size and discipline...GRC has one of those. No surprise here to see OC with an upset since everyone has GRC and Eastern on Friday.

Not sure why all the negativity towards GRC.

I in no way was impressed by OC. I did expect it to be a much closer game. GRC laid it to them. No question. GRC, IMO, is not very disciplined on defense. In the first quarter, when OC ran ball screens, they shot layups. Why they got away from that, not sure. Give credit to GRC, did what they had to do. My point is Eastern can beat people off the dribble where OC cannot. That is where GRC will struggle and they have been prone to foul trouble. I also said that I hope I'm wrong. Relax my man. It's fun to discuss hoops and get different perspectives. I'm rooting for you!

  2. Where do you see negativity in my post toward Eastern???? What reality check? Could we win, yes. Could we get beat, yes. Just supporting my Cards like I have for the last 20 years.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. Meant the whole thread. You might be the most passionate, faithful fan on here. I have a feeling the real Eastern team will show up tomorrow. They snuck by yesterday and GRC plays a style that fits them to a T. Hope I'm wrong.

  3. I assume you have seen them play? They held a good Oldham County team to 39 points yesterday! Defense was probably pretty good.:idunno:

Did you see the game? I've seen them play numerous times. Yes, they held a slow, unimaginative offense to 39 points. Eastern a whole different animal. If Montgomery County makes shots, they win the district title. They had open shot after open shot. Eastern has 3 kids who can create their own shot. Just talking hoops here. Not a GRC bash. Hope GRC wins but won't happen....IMO

  4. I agree. GRC team is on a mission...to win the state title. Best GRC team we have had in the 20 years I have lived here. Man, I hope we do. GO CARDS!!!!

Let's have a reality check. GRC plays very little defense. They will have trouble stopping Eastern. Not sure why all the negativity towards Eastern. Warren Central a whole lot better than advertised. If GRC doesn't slow it down a bit, as did WC, Eastern will have a layup drill. Either way should be fun to watch. Good luck to both teams.

  5. Male should be a good job with its broader reach of enrolling students. If Male gets to the level of Ballard, Eastern et al., (which is entirely possible), how tough will the 7th be then?

Male and Lafayette, two of the more storied programs open in the same year. Any word on when they will be filled and any names floating around?

  6. We put too much emphasis on one play or one call. Im sure there were other missed calls during the game, this just happened to be at the end. Every missed lay-up, missed FT, turnover, etc....cost you when you lose by one. One call, good or bad, doesn't decide the game.

That is where you are dead wrong IMO. Games DO come down to one play, one call, etc. All of the other stuff washes out during the course of a game but anyone who believes that things that happen in the last minute of so of a game do not decide that game are from another planet.

  7. Harrison was on fire with the 3's tonight. They came to play from the open tip-off.

GRC will adjust for Scott tomorrow night. If they want to play another day................

Harrison has some great young players. They also shoot the 3 ball very well. Clark Co's downfall willl be its defense. Championships are not won with average defense and that is exactly what they play.

  8. I am a firm believer that it is better to stick with what is "known" than to gamble with what is "unknown". Sure, each and every region has it's "bad" officials (using that term lightly here...not meant to bash any one particular person). But, each and every region conversely has it's "good" officials too. So, for the regional tournament, I'd much rather see guys in stripes who have seen me and my team's style of play throughout the year...than three guys who just walked through the door. In a one-and-done type of tournament, there's too much at stake to have a severe learning curve for how the officials are going to call the game.

Could not disagree more. There are no biases when other region officials work. Great idea and I hope they continue to do it.

  9. Cody may have shot lights out, but he sure acted like he didn't want to be there. To many stupid mental mistakes by a player with his experience. JR gave SK a huge boost off the bench, close to a double double.

The last second 30 foot back shot at the end of the first, prove to be the difference in the score. The last and 1 was bogus also.

Watching it online, I wonder why Oldham quit running the high ball screen? Simon Kenton had no answer. Yes, it seemed as an NBA and 1 but it was off the high ball screen. Chambers made some shots but his ball handling looked real shaky. Great game all around. 8th region is WIDE open. Has Henry County ever been to a regional final?

  10. Final.

Tough night for the Dogs without Hayes and Gray. Heard Knox and Rice had to do it all tonight as Holmes youth really caught up with them against the #2 team in the state.

Live and learn. Lopsided loss but it's a great learning experience for the young guys

When you lose by 60, there are zero lessons learned.

  11. This kids broke 1000 points the other night, is a flat out shooter, and last year college coaches were all over him since his team was winning. Now his team is not winning and the college scouts seem to be backing off a little. This guy gets triple teamed and teams just guard him and he still scores. People better take a look at this kid, cause he has a lot of skill and could really help a team at the next level. Any thoughts?

Very good scorer. Is he quick enough to guard at the next level? I still believe he needs to be playing somewhere, especially someone who can score like he can. Is anyone talking with him?

  12. Word is there are some coaches in Lexington on the hot seat. Any confirmation to this? Any other coaches around the state in trouble? Any coaches needing a good post season run to keep their job? It is a shame if that would be the case but this is the world in which we live. :scared:

  13. Bylaw 11 is the sportsmanship rule of the association and it basically states what is and whats not sportsmanship. One of the case studies presented in the handbook asks if another team (team A) or someone associated with another team (team A) can film on their own two teams competing (team B vs. team C) without the permission of the two teams playing (team B vs. team C). Unless permission was given by Bishop Brossart to film their game with West Carter, Betsy Layne was in violation of this Bylaw. A fan from Betsy Layne was seen filming the West Carter vs Bishop Brossart game. The fan in question is clearly a Betsy Layne fan as it said it on their shirt. This is not only unethical but unsportsmanlike. Betsy Layne should be fined and suspended for this violation by the KHSAA. I just wonder if the fan knew they were violating the rules and was put up to doing it by someone on Betsy Laynes staff? A staff who should know the rules.

Granted this happens all the time and would not surprise me if the two teams playing hadn't done it before themselves but come on do your scouting the right way and don't put your fans up to break the rules for you.

You can have all the tape you want but players still have to play. Bottom line..
