  1. Since there is such a lack of chatter and the girls deserve better, let's hope that this thread gets some talk started up.

These are just some observations from the first couple weeks.

Sorry Coffey, your secret is NOT safe with me. Highlands is a threat!! With the group they have, do not catch them on the wrong day or you are in trouble. Oh and you're catcher better be on her toes(crazy speed).

Scott - They have a couple of really nice players. Their SS and P can hit the ball and flash a bit of leather for sure.

Campbell Co - 10th region, you are put on notice. They are a contender for sure. Some real nice pieces to the puzzle. Joehring(If I spelled that wrong, I'm sorry Abby) hit a bomb off of Boone on a nice pitch low in the zone, no doubter. Miller dumped a ball into the gap and moonwalked to third. Yes, she is that fast. Still feel Jessica Walsh is one of the most under-rated players in our area.

Cooper - They have some REALLY nice young talent. If they stay on a positive trend(which they should), they will be a legit contender sooner than later. Kudos to Fields and the bunch.

If you decide to reply to this thread, please make some observations on games that you have witnessed yourself. Point out some players if you know names.

  2. I try to stay off of here as much as possible but one response annoyed me quite a bit. I understand that someone on this thread hit 52 homers in their first year of tee-ball but how about we just let the girls have their day.

GOOD job girls. Keep it up!

  3. Boone County will be hosting the first annual Lady Rebel River Shootout.

The dates will be April 8th & 9th. It is a 4 game guarantee and the entry fee is $200. This tournament will be run like the old Bulldog Bash. You will play 2 games in pool and will be sent to a second pool facing teams who finished similar to you in their pool. There will be 4 overall pool winners.

If interested, please contact Andy Petridis (859)307-7703 or cpballcoach@yahoo.com

    Thank you.

  4. Let's go ahead and take a little heat off of Lawnboy. I personally don't care if I ruffle jayhawks feathers or not. Sidenote: Jayhawk, earlier in this thread you mentioned something about someone affecting your intelligence. Now after the train wreck this thread has turned into, let us get back to the actual point of this whole thing. The KIDS!!

    1. Highlands Plenty of talent but now everyone guns for them. How will they handle it.

    2. Notre Dame Region finals two years in a row. If the new starters step up, they will be there again.

    3. Conner Lost some key players. Doesn't matter. They are always in the discussion when it counts.

    4. NCC Maybe the oldest team in the region this year with plenty of talent. Is this the year they get over the hump?

    5. Dixie Always have athletes. Can they find a way to string together some nice wins?

    6. St. Henry Have plenty of skill returning. Will they stay healthy?

    7. Brossart A scrappy bunch every year. Need to show some consitancy.

    8. Boone Can't be a homer. We'll let you all talk about us if you feel the need to. We will just show up and play.

    9. Ryle Shouldn't be this low to be honest. We all know they will be higher than this before the end.

    10. Walton Can they replace their two big bats and pitcher. They have talent.

  5. I don't post very often but to be honest, this thread seems pretty ridiculous. All A? What's the big deal? Let them play. Two things that I think has been overlooked is financial stability of a minor sports program and committed coaches. Some of the small schools simply might not have the funds to travel to tournaments around the state. That doesn't mean they do not want to. The other point is having coaches who commit themselves to ensuring that their players have a true high school sports experience in every way shape and form.

Our district holds 3 of the top teams in the region every year and every year one of us is not in the regional tournament. Is that fair? Who knows, but we aren't the only district in the state with this issue and you never hear us complain. It is what it is and we know we have to work harder next season.

If I have read all of this correctly, why don't we just eliminate districts and just have a regional tournament? This would allow all of the kids a chance at the post season and also the opportunity to play in a large tournament without having a financial burden.

And one last thing. NCC, good freaking luck and do our region proud!

  6. Lets be honest now, things get a bit blown out of proportion on here. We were only at 224 feet.

Had no idea their pitcher was in the 7th grade. If she puts some work in she could be really good. I think she batted 2nd also and had a couple hits.

All in all not a bad day for HC, Bc didn't pitch there #1 until the last inning and both teams were missing players for different reasons. HC had some different girls get a couple hit which was nice to see.

It was nice to see some of the Boone girls that I have been reading about on here. Stein didn't have her best game but got the big hit when it counted. Dallas Knotts was spraying the ball all over the field, I believe she had 3 or 4 hits. Knotts only pitched one inning but I am guessing she is right up there as one of the top pitchers in the area.

Yes it sucks not to have fences, exp when coach P has his girls playing at 225 plus feet. Maddy and coach P have a friendly mini fued going on. Coach P loves to tell Maddy and I how she never does well against his teams. (and he is right) My only real comeback is that is bc he walked her 5 times in one game when she was 12 years old. All that being said I would love for Maddy to play for Andy and when he took the job I seriolsy considered trying to get in the Boone District so she could play there.

Boone should do well this year they always play a tough schedule. Their district tourny should be real tough. I am thinking this is the year that Boone breaks through.

Side note, HC's is getting the old Bowman field off Locus Pike. The coaches have been working hard to build dugouts and putting up a fences so looks like the girls will have their own home field by sometime next week. Really nice job by them to get this down. It can only help a program by having their own field.

Nice getting to talk briefly with Clyde also. Getting to meet legends like Lawnboy and Clyde is cool!!

  7. Agreed that the 9th is a wide open crap shoot at this time. I also feel that some of the teams mentioned as contenders have not played the schedule that teams like Conner, Walton and Ryle. Dixie has taken a strong step in that direction so I do not see any reason why they shouldn't be at least considered in the conversation. Until some of the "contenders" start beating the teams that have been going to the state tournament the last few years, they are still long shots such as Porky said. It is one thing to play a team close and a totally different thing to actually beat these teams. Conner and Ryle are still the favorites until proven otherwise.
