  1. Oldjams: I have a question for you.

Your son is returning for his senior season next year. He will have a new head coach and a new system to learn.

Without knowing who that coach will be, are you happy that Coach Carr is out, or do you wish that Coach Carr, despite what is being said and rumored about him, was going to be his coach again next season???

Any other parents wish to answer that question?

My son enjoyed playing for Coach Carr, it was our first year at Scott. We have since transferred out prior to this ever breaking due to personal reasons. We both were looking forward to playing his senior year under Coach Carr. If we had of stayed after this had came out we would have transferred out because I truly would not have wanted him to play under no one else but Coach Carr.

  2. I never approached my sons coaches. I always told them if they had an issue with playing time. Or the coach, they needed to address it with the coach. It wasn't my issue, it was theirs. I was not at every practice, I was not in the know of the game plan. Part of them growing up. I was willing to give them advise of how to approach the coach, but it was their issue to deal with.

Parents not willing to cut the cord are a big part of the issue.

Never said I had a problem with his playing time cause he played plenty. So instead of running your mouth about something you don't know about and obviously cant comprehend. Our meeting was about my son's effort on the court that I felt he was not giving his all and just standing around. So that if he was not going to giving his all that we were not going to waste our time because someone else could be playing if he did not want to play. My son is to athletic to not be playing at his full potential in any sport. People kill me hiding behind their alias on here. If you want to talk about my me Man up and we can meet and talk so that get a better understanding of how I parent my kids cause I don't need to hide behind no alias. Call me William Englemon 859- 462- 0714

  3. I have read this entire thread and just wanted to say that my son Mi'Rell was a first year player this past season under Coach Carr. I felt he used him in different roles during the season which at times to me looked like Mi'Rell was lost. So I scheduled a meeting with Coach Carr to get a better understanding of exactly what his role was because when I asked my son he told me one thing but during the meeting I found out something different. Coach Carr started out by praising my son then he told us what he needed to work on by showing different film clips that made it very clear for me to see what his role was. Coach Carr pushed my son to be the best he could be and we both agreed thats what we wanted. But what touched me the most was that Coach Carr would text my son to check on him many times to check to see if he needed one on one time with him to go over plays. Coach Carr always had an open door policy when Mi'Rell needed him. He even took time out from his family to help him understand his Anathomy assignments that he was having a hard time with. So it is very sad how all of this has turned out. I Thank Coach Carr for being that extra support that my son needed and wish him and his family nothing but the best. From the Englemon family be Blessed !!

  4. Where is the "drop the mic" emoji?

There website states different: Please contact Ms. Julian or your team liaison for purchase information.

    Individual Athletic Event Admission Prices

    •Adult Admission: $5.00

•Non HC Student and Senior Citizen: $3.00

    •Under 6: Free

and there are plenty of Scott fans that can attest to this and witness with there own eyes HC adults paying less. Most students get in for reduced price or free at home .So if they made changes it is not reflected on their website. Explain that Justamom2.

  5. Just about EVERY NKY football/basketball game is $6, so if it were someone NOT clear on admission fee, that's how the discrepancy may have occurred. I seriously doubt Holy Cross was purposely over charging the Scott fans.

BTW, when NewCath played at Scott earlier this year, their fans and students were "instructed" that's the visitors section was across the field. I stayed put, but about 98% of the NewCath fan base made a mass exodus for the otherside.

In all honesty, don't have a problem with each fan base being separated.

Lawnboy, they did and they could careless about it. But when their own website has set pricing and they charge visiting team fans above that pricing then light has to be shed on it. You know that it may only be a dollar, but if you steal enough of them you will eventually have hundreds, thousands, and millions.

  6. From the Holy Cross website:

Could I specific ticket taker who might have been new be making a honest mistake?

Nice try but that wont work, they knew what they were doing. And believe me it has been reported.

  7. I will try to answer as many of you comments as possible.

    1) Many HC fans have fall season passes.

    2) It makes sense to sit as fans on the side of the 50 yard line where your cheerleaders are.

    3) HC appreciates the opportunity to play at both Holmes and Scott (when necessary) for home games.

    4) We should all strive for holiness IMO.

    5) I'm not sure who provided the pregame music and I agree that it was a little profane. When I walked into the press box before the game, none of the HC personnel had arrived yet. I'm pretty sure it was not HC provided music.

Scott fan have fall passes as well but our prices are listed and are the same for all who attend that dont have them. As far as the music goes, its HC's pressbox so the music contents are their responsiblity. I saw HC staff in there while the music was being played. Covington Indepenedent schools does not allow Holmes to play that type of music so someone from HC was in control.

  8. Holy Cross was in control most of the game, taking advantage of Scott turnovers and making some big plays on special teams. They just didn't have enough in the tank to sustain it for 4 quarters, and Scott finally took control in the 4th to pull away.

    I

Key was the Scott D Line taking over down the stretch and blowing up anything HC tried to run. The Rice kid is rather impressive at DE, and he really was the difference in the 4th.

Unfortunately less than impressed with the adults in the Scott section. Had a lady cause a scene in the press box because she felt the HC announcer didn't get excited enough when calling the Scott plays, had someone blowing an officials whistle into the 2nd half and had several chanting at the HC student section once Scott finally took control. Left a lot to be desired...

I for one was puzzled why HC charged Scott fans more for tickets than the HC fans. Then some of the adults in HC section had the nerve to tell people where they could and could not sit. How soon we forget that HC has to use Holmes field and at times has used Scott facilities as well. So dont act like HC is holier tha thou because they are not. The pregame music had more than enough profanity in it to be a Catholic school.
  9. Kids that come from challenged backgrounds need structure and crave structure. Is it wrong to expect kids to show up to practice everyday?

No its not wrong. But is it right to punish those that do show up because of so called leaders on the team that chose to not come.

  10. Agreed, and I dont believe that anyone is or has said anything wrong against Coach Nevels on this thread, but there are more than enough student just walking the halls at Holmes that dont want to play for him. It's the nature of the beast with todays kids. When you are misguided you will most likely lack direction. And I'm sorry but truth be told that requires the will power to play not make excuses because of whether or not you like the coach. So lets not kid ourselves this is not just at Holmes its at every school.

  11. I honestly feel bad for Coach Nevels. Like you said, really great guy and I agree that he has the ability to coach but at the end of the day sometimes certain coaching styles aren't a good fit for a program like Holmes.

I will say this though....if you truly want to play the game, you put personal agendas aside. IMO, not liking a coach is simply a weak excuse for not playing.[/QUOTE]

Agreed, but this day and age kids just dont have the mental toughness to endure. Plus many kids today are not taught to over come differences and just play. It's that since of entitlement that has ruined many kids in this era.

  12. I was at the game. The Juggs were sloppy again with penalties. It will cost them against better competition. The Holmes numbers are really down. It looks like they dress 25ish, makes it tough.

I agree totally, but many of the kids dont want to play for Coach Nevels. This has been heard about for awhile and until Holmes can bring in someone that can draw kids to the program numbers will continue to drop. He is a great guy and I truly believe that he has the ability to coach but he is not a fan favorite and that is no secret.

  13. Lots of questionable coaching decisions by the Scott coaching staff.

Going for two was not a bad call considering they had two timeouts at the time. The questions I have is why are they only using one receiver on most plays. If you have talented receivers and backs why not stretch the field some by using multible receivers to keep teams honest on the run. You have to use your talent when the personnel is available to do so.

  14. That's fine with me. I was just giving some examples of situations that could cause some teams to play a Froshmore schedule. By showing ages maybe people would be able to take a loss without excuses. Maybe if SK had won it would not have been an issue who knows. The reality of it all is that how a team chooses to develope their program is there choice. If SK is that powerful then they should have just as many State Titles in football as Highlands, but the Bluebirds do play more powerhouse calibar teams from Ohio each year. So maybe SK should start playing them to since they appear to be running through NKY teams.

  15. The difference in this game was coaching. When you have over 30+ players as is the case with SK. If you chose to play a Froshmore schedule then you know in advance that teams that don't have the numbers to field a true freshman team will have Sophomores. Its very obvious that SK has larger number than many schools that they may face which is not a bad thing. Its just one of those things, but Scott played maybe 13 out of the 20 of their players both ways. While SK played a whole lot more. Bad decisions on mostly bad play selections was the difference in this game. The final score was only 8-6 so I did not see that big of a difference between either team at any point of the game. So I personally don't see why people can't handle a loss. I would love to see the ages of the players from both teams to see how many kids may have been held back at some point because of lack of maturity, birthday's or other issues and Scott probably would not be the only team that has sophomore age players.
