  1. Sure, he had his sure of cheap hits. All hitters do. I'm sure the others had their fair share of cheap hits too. You don't hit over .500 at the varsity level playing the competition Ryle does unless you are a special hitter. "Swinger" is not an accurate word to describe his hitting style all. He is a very deliberate hitter with a very good eye. Rarely chases a bad pitch and usually hits the ball solid. The only negatives I could find with his hitting are that I think he is sometimes a bit too patient and I would like to see him hit with a bit more power. He certainly has the size and strength. I would take him over the Boone hitters without question.

Coopertown be honest you would take the last guy sitting on Ryles bench over any Boone player LOL

  2. Certainly on the defensive side it would be hard to argue the likes of Liggett catching and Cotton roaming CF.............both would be strong contenders based soley on defensive prowess. Liggett literally controls the basepaths from the dish. That type of "game-management" at the high school level is certainly MVP criteria. He and Cotton are both strong at the plate as well. Sam maybe doesn't have the HRs but isn't playing at the Band-box at Boone either (not taking away from Ronald at all) Pugh is also a serious contender with his position supporting his overall value and hitting numbers..........certainly their three teams have a strong enough schedule to not have the "watered down competition" discussion. I would start the discussion among these three and move from there as the rest of the season unfolds. I cannot comment first hand on everyone as I admittedly have not seen Dixie yet this year but am familiar with their players, so there are some others that obviously deserve some consideration.

Of Cottons 9 HR only 3 are at home!!!!

  3. I'll go with Hoskiins right now (yes, some Ryle bias there), but I would like to hear some of Laumannm's pitching stats, if anyone has them. I was pretty impressed watching him throw last week. If he has some nice pitching stats to go with his hitting, it might give him a leg up. Much similar to last year when I (and a lot of other people) thought Isler's combined pitching/hitting stats were worthy of the POY.

Laumann: 5 saves, 22K's in 15 innings, .155 ave against him,

    Hitting: .397 ave, 5Hr, 21 RBI's, 17 Runs scored and only 4'k in 70 AB

  4. Cotton .400, 5HR's, 20 SB's.

Cotton .400 ave, 6 HR, 24 SB, 16 RBI's, 18 runs scored and has thrown out at least 6 runners. And on top of all of that he is one of the best defensive outfielders in the state!:notworthy:

  5. Oh sorry I read your post wrong. I thought you said who will be number one. My bad. I'll put the rotations the way I think they will go this year:

    Dixie-

    1. Brice Smallwood

    2. Brett Stansberry

    3. Tyler Sexton

    4. Keegan Burney

    5. Tim Barnhorst/ Corbin Dematteo

    Boone

    1. Tyler Deno

    2. Doug Teegarden

    3. Jackson Laughman

    4. Alford (Couldnt think of his first name)

    5. Chase Stanley

    Ryle

    1. Chris Hensley

    2. Kyle Donavon

    3. Connor Hempel

    4. Daisuke

    5. Tyler Hill/ Caleb Lonkard

    Connor

    1. Nick West

    2. Jody Hubbard

    3. Brennan Russell

    4. Jake Samad

    5. Maybe Zach Nelson

    Cov Cath

    1. Adam Warning

    2. Chris Gerwe

    3. Adam Shumate

    4. Matt Klein

    5. Ben Maile/ Tom Arnzen

    Closer- Brennan Schlaugbaum(sp?)

    Beechwood

    1. Josh Bertke

    2. Zach Larimore

Then I dont know. I dont know enough about Beechwood to finish their rotation.

Very solid pitching in the 9th this year. Should be a very fun low scoring 9th :D

    Nate Alford

  6. Just wondering but does Sam call his own game for HHS?

BTW the best hitting catcher if anyone wants to know in the Ninth is (IMO) Boone's Dunaway!

Now if you could give me Liggetts "D" and Dunaway "O" I think you would have someone close to another Maile, but still, not quite as good as the real thing! Some just don't understand how good the young man was in HS!

:thumb: I was waiting for someone to mention him!!!

  7. Boone should have a good pitching staff as well. They return 21 of their 24 wins from last year. They only graduated one pitcher. Deno, Teegarden, Laumann and Alford were a combined 18-4 if I am not mistaken. Plus you add Brodsky, Devandry and Crabtree who led the JV team to the title last year.
