I trust you're not talking about Littrell, cause nothing could be farther from the case when concerning him. I really don't know who we are talking about right now to be honest.
I don't think Corey is the kid they're referring to as "quitting" or whatever is going on.
-
Are you serious. Is he that good? Sorry, I have never heard of the kid but it sounds like I will this yr. Wow! If he is a low 1st rounder and is passing up the bigs for KY then I think that is a big mistake. Good luck to the young man. :thumb:
If you have not heard of Corey Littrell then you probably don't follow Kentucky High School baseball very closely.
-
"IF" they had him? Why don't they? What happened?

Southern 70-54. They get up and down the floor well and Central is far too inexperienced.
-
Probably need to wait and see the draw before making any predictions...
-
All good points from the NKY guys...that's why this poll is completely meaningless! It will be interesting to see how the 9th plays out this year since there seems there's no clear cut favorite to dominate.
Niner, you're probably right about Danville. Doing it over I would probably put them ahead of Mercer County, but probably not West. Regardless, it should be a very competitive region. I guess I had Danville so low due to their awful showing against Lexington Catholic in semi-state.
-
Didn't Beechwood win the 9th region last year with a pretty young team? Cov Cath lost a whole lot but Coach Krump will have them competing at the top of the region - right, Old Guy?
-
Some quick notes: I don't think Lex Cath will be #1, but they're defending state champs so the spot is theirs to lose (side note to quick note: I didn't think Lex Cath would be #1 last year either). No way do I know much about all 16 regions in Kentucky, but I did try to include at least one team from each region...thoughts based much on last years record and how many players they have returning. Terrible logic, I know. Anyway, enjoy...and please, tell me how bad I messed this up.

I suspect it will come down to Shelby County and Anderson County.
Isn't that the case most every year?
-
Maybe you could give us a little more info on the two...
-
Congratulations Mr. Witt! Your best baseball is definitely ahead of you!
-
Harrison will be above and beyond everyone else in the 10th region. That doesn't always mean a regional championship, but they will be a huge favorite.
-
I agree, they haven't blown it per se, but have definitely had teams that were favored to win. I don't believe anyone around here thought Lexington Catholic was the favorite over Tates Creek in 2009. They always seem to have talent to go all the way, and definitely haven't gotten it done.
Yeah, you are right. And I will agree that Tates Creek will probably be favored in the 11th region this year.
-
Tates Creek has to be the favorite, despite their track record for blowing it in the districts. Deepest pitching staff in the area.
I wouldn't say Tates Creek has "blown it" in their districts. They just have had the misfortune of playing in the 43rd. Keep this in mind:
2009- lost to Lex Cath (state champs)
2008- lost to Lafayette (ok, they blew this)
2007- lost to Dunbar (state champs)
2006- lost to Lex Cath (state champs)
2005- lost to Lafayette (district champs)
2004- lost to Lafayette (state runner up)
2003- lost to Dunbar (state champs)
So in the last seven years, they have lost in the districts to four state champs and one state runner up. I'd say many teams would "blow it" in the districts if that's who they had to play.
-
No dont mean that at all BUT based on what I saw this summer they have 3 kids who would get much minutes on any team in the region except for maybe Scott County. I saw them beat Catholic by about 14, and yes LC had everyone there and MS's big guy Wallace tore up LC's big guy. Ofcourse you have Carrington but I think the most talented player might be junior Aaron Ponder. Those 3 can flat play then add some very nice role players and add Rico Brown back to the mix and they are deep and talented. Catspause is crazy for not having them in the top 10 in the region.
Maybe because they went 13-14 last year and lost big in the district finals and first round of the region??? :idunno:
-
So far Bishop Brossart is doing this very thing, they didn't win a game last year and so far they are undefeated.
They won't lose another game this year if they keep cancelling the games because of H1N1.
-
Who it Littrell? 94 mph? Where was he last season? I'm not being skeptical, but I had a pretty close eye on HS baseball the past four years and i don't remember the name.
Corey Littrell is the real deal and will be the best pitcher in KY next year. Here are his stats from last season/summer:
Trinity Spring Season:
Record 8-2, 70 IP, 93 Ks, 27 BBs, 38 Hits given up, and only 4 earned runs (0.40 ERA).
KBC Summer Season:
Record 5-0, 36 IP, 39 Ks, 11 BBs, 21 Hits given up, and only 4 earned runs (0.78 ERA).
Combined Stats for Spring/Summer:
Record 13-2, 106 IP, 132 Ks, 38 BBs, 59 Hits given up, and only 8 earned runs (0.53 ERA).
Convinced?

Western Hills High School in Frankfort is looking for a new head baseball coach. No word on a replacement.
-
This is dissapointing.
-
Man reached on an error. Next batter reached on a bunt single. Then one runner eventually scored on a single and a second run scored on a fielder's choice.
Rueff had retired 16 straight until the Harrison batter reached on an error.
-
Coach Kevin Clary and staff have done an amazing job. I didn't see Lexington Catholic making it out of the district, much less the region, semi-state and into the final four. I know this is Coach Clary's first year as the head coach, but they're doing something right, making it to the 11th region finals for four years in a row and winning three of those region titles, not to mention a state title in 2006. Give credit where credit is due. I think with a resume like that he can wear his hat whatever way he chooses.
-
Tough to have Rueff pitch so well and not get any offensive support. Logan Dailey must have gotten the outs when he needed them. Tough way to lose.

The high score is a surprise. The outcome is not.
