been that way for over 10 years now. They had 3 great coaches in Bob Sphire, Maurice Dixon, and Jay Cobb at different points in time and each had success. But basketball is king there and they won't do what it takes to sustain a competitive program.

Ref on the left - "Dude be honest, do my pits stink?"

Is it really that big of a deal? People in Northern Kentucky shorten Newport Central Catholic to New Cath. Are they really the "New" Catholic school in the state of KY? No. It's just convenient and easy and still not the "proper name of the school". Maybe it is even "lazy".
It is asinine to think that Lexington Catholic fans or anyone from the Central KY area uses the phrase "Catholic" to imply that they are the only Catholic school in the state of KY. Just as Newport Central Catholic through local colloquialism has become "New Cath". It's just hard to believe that these Northern Kentucky Catholic high schools feel like they are being slighted because people tend to refer to Lexington Catholic as just "Catholic". Get over yourselves and stop looking for something to complain about.

I was not impressed with Sheppard at all.
Watching on the internet, from the first inning, it looked like he was questioning balls/strikes. Hit two batters (could/should have been 3, I would have argued the ball hit the batter on the wrist, not the hand for a foul ball). Walked numerous batters....
Where is Lawrence Co located? Is their competition this weak or is this just an 'off game' for Sheppard and the team? The announcers are saying they were one of the favorites to when the State? Are you kidding me?
Lawrence Co can't run bases either!!! They just got their 3rd runner picked off!!
Bottom of 3rd... 7 - 0 Breds!
Where can I watch it online? Thanks!

Attended the game, I thought Catholic was out of pitching since they used Martin and Authur in wins over Henry Clay and #3 Madison Central. That was not the case as Haynes and Carroll were very impressive. Great game, defense for both teams was excellent. Catholic is going to be hard for anyone to handle in state. They are very well coached and play with alot of emotion.
It was actually Haynes and Cleary, the junior lefty that pitched for Catholic. But I agree they were both very impressive and proves Catholic has more than enough depth on the mound to win it all.

I am surprised that #3 and #8 play this early, its a 10 run rule, and I can't find any mention of this game in the media anywhere.

5 out of the last 7 state champions have come from the district. All 5 were ranked in the top 25. So yes 43rd is the best district in the state by far IMO.

If he was thrown out of this game, then by KHSAA rules he is suspended for the next 2 games.

I hear the Male freshman team is very good. They knocked off Lexington Catholic the other day 2-1. The tying run was thrown out at the plate tagging from third on a fly ball in foul territory down the left field line. Just happened to be in the area and caught this game.
I hear they have an eighth grader that has 2 or 3 home runs in very limited action. Is this true? What is his name? Who are some of the leaders of this team?
Male and Lexington Catholic have not played at the freshman level yet. First game was canceled. They do play this Tuesday at Male though.

New turf, Lights, storage facility and hitting facility are going up this summer at Lex Cath. It is true that donors tried in the past but the past President did not allow it. Its good to see a top ranked program finally get top ranked facilities.

The shortstop from Owensboro made some amazing plays in the championship game. He made to backhands in the six hole make easy when I didnt even think he had a chance. Is this kid playing college ball? Where at?
Those were some of the best plays I have ever seen a high school kid make. This kid should definitely be going D1.
