I know their were a few 13th Region teams that played in the Coal Classic over the weekend. How did Knox Central, South and Corbin ect..?
-
How did the teams look?
-
I think that Afi100guy's triplet boys should be in the Top Ten in the Embryo class.
This stuff is total drivel from a very narrow window of exposure.
Let's see what the list looks like when these guys are juniors and seniors, and who's on it and who's not.
Is somebody getting paid to do this????
What are we coming to??? :ohbrother:
Most of all these players on the list has received letter from D1 D2 and NAIA Schools with some intersest in the them for the future...Some has already taken unoffical visit... It's not just some one getting paid to post this list of players. Some one from a school that have been touch with them...because they seen some thing they liked while seeing them play over the summer and want to watch how the develope over the next 2 to 3 years...
Quit being a hater...

Is Barton playing for the Jackets this year?
-
Probably more so at one than the other.
I hear he's really come on as a Football, player...
I like hearing about area players from all the school's going to the next level.
I wish him the best...
-
My two cents worth would be...
G- Wilson
G- Smith
W- Johnson
F- Hopkins
C- Manns
with Stewart, Freeman, Jones, Taylor, and others seeing time.
The Hounds will have the ability to go with a big lineup or a small, quick lineup.
Didn't a good player from South transfer to Corbin? I hear he's a player that could help Corbin.

Big Blue South's future always looks bright. They have been loaded for about a 10 year stretch. The list of players going all the way back to Jackie Steele is incredible. Players and a great staff including the legend Roscoe Denny, Brad Sizemore and Dennis Hammonds and it is easy to see why SL has been so dominant. Fields, Rivera, St. John, Proffit, Hammonds, Trey Smith, Allen, Borkman, Riley, Gross, Valentine, Wright and the list goes on and on. They have had is many quality players as any 3 other schools in the area combined. Jim McCallister could have won with this bunch of players. Name your first 5 for South over the last 15 years and they will match up very well with the first 5 from the remainder of the 13th.
I agree South has always had great teams and players their record stands for it self. They have been loaded with great high school players and MR Kentucky Basketball, Walt Allen. over the passed years.
Sears, Sanders, and company, have big shoes to fill and great players to follow with South's rich basketball tradition.
-
What are the full names and grade?
South Laurel's future looks bright down the road. They have some of the top freshman in the region and state.
Alex Sears and Blake Sanders, last year lead the South Laurel Middle School, 8th Grade team to the 13 Region 8th Grade Title at Whitley County and KY State Runner Up Title. Beating the 2 favorites Mayfield and Scot Co. Played a Hot Hazard team that took them to 3 or 4 over times. Lost to a talented Madison Middle in the Championship game, 20 Min's after playing the Marathon game with Hazard.
Alex Sears, is a talented long and athletic kid with a big up side. Strong rebounder with nice out side touch. Helped South's freshman team to the 13 Region Runner Up Title. Played up on South Laurels High School, Region Champs baseball team. He should see a lot of playing time on Souths JV team.
Blake Sanders, is a hard nose kid with a high basketball IQ and skills. Jody Demling, Ranked him as a KY Top 5 Freshman. One of the Coaches, that worked in Kentucky Basketball Camp, Top 150 Fab Fresh and Rick Bolus. Ranked Him ranked him #2 in the state. http://15thregionroundup.com/other_sports.htmlShould start JV and dress Varsity. Their Varsity team is guard heavy and could cause Sanders, to set and watch this year.
Sears and Sanders, had a supporting cast of very athletic players around them. Austin Schare, Austin Rader, Jason Mitchell, Matthew Salvey, and Trent Abner, Zach Jones and a big man in the middle I think his name was John ?.
If, you think Wright is smiling a lot about this years St Johns team your probably right...but this South Laurel Freshman team has to make him smile for the future. This keeps South a top 13 region team for a few more years.
-
With Hooker out this season, I drop Clay to 3rd-6th with Corbin and South battling it out for the Region Crown. Corbin and South are probably more equal this year than at any time before. The home team will have the slight advantage each time they play each other. I give Corbin a slight edge in bench depth/ experience.[/quote
I heard this is the most depth South's had in a few years. The only spot to fill is at the 4 spots. South, is stacked at guard with the addition of Carr and the KC kid. It will be interesting to see how Wright, handles his young freshman guard and the Smith kid with this much depth.
-
Someone is going to be very upset if he doesn't get a lot of varsity minutes.....
I suppose your speaking about Sanders, and why would you say that?
-
Indiana by way of Sam Karr. He is Sam Karr's grandson a former coach at Sue Bennett. He played at South as a freshman but moved to Indiana.
I don't think he ever played for South, Someone said; he came to Wright's Basketball Camp, through the summer while visiting family in the area. I could be wrong...
-
The top 3 in the 13th this season will be Clay, Corbin and South...in that order. As for depth, Id put Corbin and South at a tie with Clay not far behind.
What depth does Corbin have? South is loaded with depth especially at guard. I think Corbin lack of depth hurts them this year. They lost a ton of talent and depth in Crawford Crawford and Smith. Corbin, may be the 3rd or 4th best team in the region. South, Knox Central, Corbin and Clay. Clay would be a close second to South if not for Hooker getting hurt.
-
St. Johns is Godzilla and King Kong in this region. If they can find anybody over than St. John and Watkins to score they will be hard to handle. I question their ability to handle the ball and depth. Dean and Smith did not get their due credit last year. If Gilbert plays out front they will be very small other than Godziller.
What I've seen of the Sanders, kid their ability to handle the ball and depth will not be a problem at the guard position. I think South, has to develop a inside player to play with St John.
-
I still think it's Corbin who is back on top of the region...

I didn't see this posted on a thread, but thought it was worth mentioning because Findlay did just win the NCAA D2 national title last year. They went 36-0 last year.
Another Kentucky kid getting his college education paid for to play the game he loves.
"Great news and congratulations!!!"
-
Their led by one of the top freshman PG in the state, Mason Monroe. Monroe, will play a big roll in their success this year.
-
I think Ferguson will make the biggest impact this season. He will have a big year at Madison Central.
Ferguson ?
-
No offense to you or anyone else ranking players (which I did myself in this thread), but you can take this list of the top 15 or 20 freshmen you have and throw it out the window in a couple years. A list of the top 15 or 20 players will be drastically different then IMO.
I do agree...but this is for this year! I think ever one knows things change every year. Big men start to develop and it moves guards down the line unless they grow to plus 6. Kids start playing other sports Oh yea, Girls Girls!
Can we just have a little fun and enjoy ourselves and this freshman class.:thumb:
Were just a bunch of Basketball Guru want to Be's any way.

I think you mean his academic guardian not his legal guardian. Hick's parents are not going to sign over legal gaurdainship to the coach.
-
It's no secret Evan's will be the next Coach.
KC, not innovated enough to get some one out side their circle.
-
What was the score of the Shelby Valley vs Scott Co. game? I Got to watch Shelby play South Laurel yesterday, SV beat South by 13. SV is a very physical team with a very good point guard. Good experience for South!
-
Who will be top freshman and Sophomores? I think the 13 region had 6 teams in the Sweet Sixteen, in this years 8th Grade State Tournament. I know KC and Corbin did well in last years State Tournament. Their seems to be a lot of young talented players coming up in the region.
-
South Laurel, had a good Middle School team. Winning the 8th grade 13 Regional Tournament and coming 8th grade State Runner up at the KBA.
Looks like their some nice young players coming up in the 13 region in 2009/2010. Will any have a impact on their teams.
Corbin 56 South Laurel 55

:thumb:: Give Corbin, credit for the win...but if not for South, missing a point blank lay up in the closing seconds. The Hounds, would be telling a little different tell.:sssh: I would be worried about how you let a team get back in a game leading by 16 points and seeming to be on your way to a blow out in stead of planning 3 more victories. Good lucky to the Hounds and Cards, in their future games.
