Over 30 fouls called in this game. Wow
Holmes was 27/39 from the line.
Dixie made a higher percentage 15/19 but got 20 less attempts.
No easy looks for Holmes, Dixie hammered the dogs on every break away or look under the basket, that is the reason for some many free throws, there was also a Tech on Pittman, and an intentional foul on Dixie in this one, and another foul that resulted in JJ getting hammered in the face, and he and a Dixie player having to be pulled away from each other by both coaching staff's. It was a physical game.

A bunch of fouls called in this one I heard. Pittman had his usual Windmill dunk also.
I am somewhat surprised that a team like Dixie took them to the wire. Holmes seems to struggle against physical teams in the past though and Dixie is a physical team for sure.
Hit that right on the head. There were only two players on the court prepared to deal with Dixie's physicality tonight and it was the 2 stars that Holmes has. Dixie played very physical, frustrated Holmes, often led to turnovers and when not they put Holmes on the line and Holmes stuggled knocking down free throws at times tonight. Dixie had a heck of a game plan to deal with a "soft" Holmes team and it nearly worked. When Holmes is not playing confident, hard, and focused, they can be beat by anyone, but I think that is the game for every team in the state. Holmes has just struggled with there focus and effort a lot more than some of these other teams this year. As far as getting it on track, I think they are on track, they didnt blow teams out last year either, true a 3 point win to Dixie is close for comfort, but see the double digit wins vs Newport, the 34 point win vs Scott as evidence that they are good, when they play there type of ball.

How many flushes did the boys from Holmes have tonight?
ALOT!!! Lol, I think Pittman had 4 or 5 of his own... I would say 8 or so

Horrible call....you know coaches just have to cringe when she runs out of the lockerroom.
I agree, she T'd him and Rice up a few times last year.

Far be it from me to side with an official, AND I know photos can be deceiving, but this clearly looks like a technical to me.
You are only allowed to hang on the rim to break a fall, or regain your balance. This appears way-excessive! Were there an evaluator in the stands, she/they would have been written up for not making that call.
His feet were actually out from under him for a second on the dunk and he reeled himself back in and let go. The pic looks like he was spinning on the rim in a taunting fashion, but if you were there you would have felt otherwise because it really was a terrible call. Oh well.

Seems like Elijah has been focused as of late.

It is easier to advance out of the district in the 35th. It has been a two horse race for years now with an occasional surprise. You never know who is coming out of the 33rd year in and year out.
That's because year in year out the best two programs in the ninth region are in the 35th district. Sorry but regional titles and what they were able to do in the state tourney speaks for itself. Its not Holmes and Cov Cath fault that other district have parity but they pretty much know they will see each other in the district finals most years, and in 07 and 08 there was little doubt around NKY they would see each other in the Regional finals as well.

Elijah is a stud on the court, and he knows it. He gets happy about it and loves to tell anyone around him about it all the time. He is constantly talking it up, but he never does it without a smile on his face. The kid is vocal, he is a leader, he can score inside, outside, off the dribble, and at the foul line. He can rebound the ball, block shots, get out on the press and force turnovers and come up with steals, the kid is flat out fun to watch. AND THAT IS WHAT THE ENTIRE BULLDOG TEAM DID TONIGHT, SIT THERE AND WATCH HIM. If he can get some help on a consistant basis, this team is legit, but when guys are standing around, walking up and down the court, and things like that, they are average at best. Elijah can not carry a team by himself, although he will try, it just wont happen!
-
Why would he even be in during the 4th at all with a score like that?
Holmes actually started the 4th with Gray, Herndon, McClendon, Avery and Hayes in the game, Pittman, Rice, Johnson's and Slusher never touched the court.

1st 2nd 3rd 4th
Holmes 32 15 18 14
Cooper 12 5 6 5
Pittman had 22 and played the first quarter, sat the entire second and played only 4 minutes in the 3rd.
Holmes played the entire 4th with backups, they were trying to send a message early I believe but once they got up by a big margin they slowed it down some, and they did call off the dogs late. At they half I thought they may be gunning for 100

Great win for Newport, kinda seen this one coming, Newport is having a heck of a season and have a talented bunch over on there side of the licking river
-
They are the most unpredictable team in the 9th

Awesome pics Panda... I am upset I couldn't make the drive down due to my work schedule... Seems like I missed a great game...

After tonight, Elijah Pittman has to be on everyone's top 10... He is the key to Holmes success, they look like a completely different team with him off the floor. Ricardo Johnson is a great player but Holmes misses Pittman more when he is gone, than so Ricardo IMO

IMO, it has to be Trinity right now, they have beaten everyone that has a right to claim the #1 spot. I think right now, #1 Trinity, #2 Ballard...
-
WOW!!! Trinity did it, they are serious

Jaydale Herndon hit the trying shot to send it to OT, not Rice.
I heard Rice as well, but again I was getting text updates.
-
Pretty sure Avery is still out however that is not confirmed. I heard Pittman finished with 34, but either way he dominated this game for Holmes. Holmes was down 11 when Rico fouled out and fought back to tie it up at the buzzer with there leader on the sidelines. It was back and forth in overtime until Pittman's free throws sealed the deal. Great game from what I hear, but all I was getting were text updates....

Nice win for Cov Cath

There is just something about when you team wins, knowing flat out they are the best that state has to offer that feels good. I mean in football, you have 6 teams that can say I am the best. They wont play so who is the real champion. In basketball, Holmes was the best team in the state last year, nobody can argue that, Mason Co the year before and Scott Co the year before that. We know annually who the best is and to water that down is not a good thing.

Great win for Trinity....

Holmes by 7. Ricardo is really on his game right now, and the rest of the team is responding well to his leadership and also playing some good basketall.
He is playing the type of ball that I expected from day one. If they ever get all 3 of the horses rolling at once watch out. Elijah and JJ have had there moments this year where they have been exceptional as well. But if they all three are clicking at once, teams may want to steer clear of this team.

What 4??? I was there and was only aware of 2 players fouling out, Pike with 4 minutes to go and big #45 with under a minute. You are going to have players foul out when you approach a game like them. Big 45 picked up his 4th in the first half and continued playing. I dont think the coach cared because that's the style they had to play in this one
